yep, she's out of work till the end of June we just found out, so I'll be a full time carer till then. Might get away for the society event in June :) - she feels bad for me that I'm not getting as much golf as i normally would so i can make up for it when she gets more mobility in her wrist :)

    I'll be making this.

I'm coming from the Kells area in Meath if anyone needs a lift up and back or if anyone I coming from above me I'd happily go as a passenger.

Definitely not........... Really looking forward to the golf this weekend.

1st round Matchplay Singles on Friday
    Boards Outing on Saturday
    May Medal on the Sunday.

Even bringing the missus to Ballykisteen on the pretence of company so as to smooth my path to the fairways over the three days.

But, did you say you were not going to this one or one of them - we had hope that day. :)

    Fix,

    You are not going mad......

I did say I was going to be more than likely missing the Saturday outing as its the furthest outing I would have to travel too.

That said I'm having a bad week in work and I need something to look forward too. A nice day out with the Boards Society is just what the doctor ordered. :)

Anyway - cool your coming - we need a target. :)

The very man. He was in town for a few days with mates, one of them the Everton kit man so we had a bit of craic with me in a Liverpool top! He wanted to carve EFC in the back of my head! :)

Presume M8 is the way to go from Dublin lads?
(Seem to remember BallyK himself advising against going by Tipp town the last time we were down there? )

Quickest way is take the M8 as far as Cashel, turn right coming out of Cashel and head into Dundrum. Then head from Dundrum into Tipp town. The golf course is a few kilometres out the Limerick road. When you get to Limerick Junction the course is on the left hand side.

Fairplay Tiger! You've been to a lot of outings and it's finally great to see you in the winners circle. :)

FairPlay Tiger. You deserved it after a serious commitment to the society. Hopefully this win coupled with your finish in Carlow should hopefully guarantee your entry to this years Ryder Jug team!!

Thanks to ParLance and Ballyk for wonderful company in by far my best round of my boards career. Definitely helps having the home pro giving you the lines ;-) Unfortunately my back 9 let me down for a 2nd place another 40 :-(

Will be missing for Dunmurry but back for Gowran hopefully!!

Had a great day today, really enjoyed the round with great company. Hadn't played the course before and have to say I really liked it. The greens were super and alot of the holes suited my eye.

The weather held up, thank God, as did Tiger when the pressure came on.
For someone that never score more that 40 points or won a competition, he played brilliantly. Delighted for him.
If Paddy Power had a book open for the Golfdigestevent tomorrow, I'd be having a few bob down.
Great company with bobster453 who was on his first outing. He'll be a great addition to the society. Just practice the putting bobster :)
As for my own round, I played the best golf since I restarted playing about 2 years ago. Level par for 17 holes and a f**k up on the 4th. I still haven't forgiven myself for going for the green on the 4th.

    Here the round....
    http://www.gamegolf.com/round/32458
Course isnt mapped correctly as it has the 1st as a par 3 and I just made the 4th as an 8

Again, down roads you wouldn't travel unless you were as mad a golfer as a Boards Golf Society golfer. Talk of bikes - walks - cars, all means of transport. Great to see the Munster gang out in full contingency.

So with all that travel and time, is sometimes nice to play a course from forward tees - and a bit of room, if not silly off the tee. Society golf is fun at the end of the day - everybody should have a chance of a win with enough effort and if they play well.

Therefore we were all happy to see that Tiger is not in fact injured, and alive and well -
From middle of fairway 123 yards out ;) on last - I seen Tiger fist pump and actually wave to the hotel - funny , but as it turns out true :) - He had burnt it up - We felt a 40 + score was out there today.

So a great day - nice crowd hung around after and had nice food. Golf chat - the chats you can have with guys - who are golfers' golfers.

Fair play macker taking the stick with a laugh, for last month and today - we have a new target now. And - we still have a serious competition building up.

Thanks to Paulo and Stevie - for a very relaxing round (Even if I was asleep for first 4 :P) - We all had our moments - Paulo is deadly around greens - but nothing went in today - Stevie - sublime chipping , unlucky with bunkers. That chip on 16 was up with anything I have seen.

    Catch all again .

Thanks to all the lads who do the work in the society. Not easy and ye put in even more time. You realy have built something great. Thanks lads.

Just in the door at home.

Another nice day out with the Boards Society albeit the rain trying its best to ruin it. Hard to believe it held off as well as it did given it pissed going both down and back on the roads.

As for the golf it proved a outing to far for my form. I couldn't buy a putt all day and missed some sitters even a putt for a 2 which would have given me something to cheer about. :(:(

Great scoring by the lads and 44pts (Great Shooting) for Tiger means he now can be the point of attack until the next outing :):)

Nice course only let down by the net on first hole and possibly the par 3 ninth which is too plain for my liking. Apart from that it has some lovely holes and was in fine condition.

  • Registered Users Posts: 313 ✭✭tigerwood1

Thank's for all the kind words lads i was expecting a bit of a pasting:), thank's again to poor macker for keeping me under the radar at carlow where i was kicking myself for not paring the last to give me 38pts but was delighted to see macker was well clear anyway . As reganovski said it's the 1st time i have scored above 40th pts, think the best i scored previously was 39 pts in deerpark off 18 when started playing (many a moon ago).
I would like to welcome Bobster to the society who proved to be a lucky charm for myself and reganovski who played some amazing golf but just lacking a bit of luck on the day or maybe a 15 shot hcp advantage to get him over the line:pac:

Was amazed the rain stayed away and the course was in great condition (new entry into my top ten) and the greens were superb hopefullly i will be able to carry this purple patch on ;).

Cheers Tigerwood1(apt handle after Ballykisteen btw)15 shot hcap advantage would be much appreciated(see what you can do for me yeah?), great shooting by both my partners today, best of luck in the golfdigest game sunday, let us know how you get on.
Back to the practice green for me for the next month, happy enough the way i played tee to green, only for the fact i had to put the ball in the hole to score i would have had a good round

Glad everybody enjoyed the day at Ballykisteen yesterday. I was sure ssbob had it won when he had his fourth four pointer of the day.

Congrats to tigerwood1 on his win with a great score. His changed tactics this year seem to be paying off -last year he was guaranteeing he was going to shoot big scores on some of the days but didn't deliver. This year he is producing the goods though! Looks like he was cutting it close on the 8th though based on that picture.

Fair play to the lads like charlieIrl and others who travelled long distances to play. It was great that we got away with it weather wise, especially seeing as it had lashed rain all morning! Some shooting by reganovski as well.

Good game on Saturday, at least the rain didn't come down too hard, it was savage on the drive home!
Thanks to hungover Pat and Paul for good company and the bit of craic on the way around, and well done to Pat. If he wasn't still drunk for the first 3 holes he would have been in the hunt, some great golf played.
Enjoy the next outing guys, I'll be missing in action but keep your eye on the box and maybe you'll spot me inside the ropes down in Fota :)

Only getting around to this now.

Great day out and was a pure pleasure to see Ssbob have a great showing. A putting display that I've never seen the likes of from any HC (bar the odd 4 putt :) )

It never really happened for BallyK and I but I don't think we're too far off a decent showing.

Get working on those 100 yards and in Ssbob, you're long game and putting are close to single figures stuff.

Fair play to Tiger, Regan and Charlie. And too the bunch behind that were hot on their heels.
Going by that form, I think there's a case to move the Ryder Jug to Ballykisteen :)

Special mention to Macker for not winning too :)
