Ordered ESPGalauda 2 from yes asia 2 weeks ago, still no sign of it, renchi took 5 days to deliver!

Akai Katana would be an astonishing coup. I'd actually wet myself if it's true.

I could bat way out of left field though and suggest it's a PAL Muchi Muchi Pork!/Pink Sweets perhaps? Oddly, I don't have Espgaluda II yet, it's been on my list for a while but I keep buying PC Engine stuffs.

Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets seem niche even by Japan / Cave standards, so personally I'd be very surprised, especially since it's region free as well. Already seems like a rarity actually - not in stock in play-asia anymore, but as with all Japanese new releases the price is just too high to warrant an import.

Apparently it could well be DoDonpachi Dai Fukkatsu: Black Label. That would be completely biblical if they drop that one in Europe.

They're worth following on Facebook for English language updates: https://www.facebook.com/RisingStarGames

But yeah DDP is probably / definitely amongst the titles they'll announce. TAPS NOSE!!!!

    I don't use Facebook. :o

Where were the rumours of more than one title being released? I'd wager that the other game will be Deathsmiles II in this instance based on the reception of the first game.

Just hints from here and there. RSG staff have responded to the pleas for Akai Katana here for example (few posts down): http://www.risingstargames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=546&start=60

Alas, it all seems to be down to corporate blah de blah for lack of firm announcements!

I really hope it's not Death Smiles 2X, I enjoyed the first game for a while but then it kinda fell flat.

But, I'd love Akai Katana, from what I've seen of it looks terrific. Or Dai-fukkatsu will do either:D

That's just utterly beautiful. You lucky, lucky man. Is that NTSC-J 360 you have or a legit PCB.........or 'misc'?

Awesome, the fact that AK is more difficult than DS is what appeals to me, DS was a breeze with a little practice and I love a good hori shmup. Is that the xbox or pcb version you have?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,182 ✭✭✭ondafly

sadly its the xbox360 NTSCJ version - apparently it didn't do very well in the arcades in Japan, hence its been released so quickly on the xbox. I really like it though, although still getting to grips with the mechanics of it.

Has any of yee shmup gurus played the AirRade games or one called 7 Servant's Blade? Only came across them recently but thought they are pretty good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Not played them myself although I read once that a CIB Air Raid recently sold for thousands of dollars. If you have a copy of it I'd hold on to it!

As mentioned earlier, here's what I received today. Some are not SHMUPS but are either a) games I want or b) driving games, which I've started collecting select ones too and c) I've started collecting Bomberman games, in addition to Puyo Puyo titles.

One thing to point out, 90% of these (that qualify) have spine and registration cards. Others come with additional pamphlets.

A nice example is the Side Arms Special disc. The instructions open out in to a poster detailing care instructions one side and a detailed guide to game strategy on the other. Very nice touch I thought.

A final note, R-Type Complete is CIB but I double cello wrapped it as it arrived in it's original (opened) retail cello wrapper. Decided to keep that just in case and double bag it. Oh and that PS1 title is a SHMUP.

Here's the snaps. More to come tomorrow? :)

How about using it to document your shmup collecting saga?

That's what I had in mind, just a tumblr blog or something. Mix it up a bit with more YouTube videos; gameplay reviews et al. Assuming I have the time to dedicate to it... which I more than likely won't! :o

in other news anyone ordered from yesasia.com before? i ordered 2 copies of ESPGaluda 2 on Jul 12,2011 and still no sign if them, renchi.com only took 5 days or so!

I ordered Espgaluda II (Platinum) earlier this week. There's a 1wk wait time on stock so you might be waiting a while. My Mushihimesama 1.5 was the same story. Took nearly a month to get it. Don't fret, it will arrive. Eventually.

I know. It's rather magical news eh? I want to pre-order ASAP. I hope they price it the same as Deathsmiles.

I read an interview earlier this morning with one of the developers who hinted at a possible Akai Katana release this year. Which would be great, but getting DoDonpachi is a huge win for everyone as it clearly reflects Cave's confidence in the European market which I assume would be off the back of Deathsmiles and Guwange sales (possibly even Nin 2 Jump and Mushihimesama DLC sales) which they themselves addmited were experiments to test European waters.

The future for the SHMUP market in Europe looks rosy. However I'm a little disappointed they didn't follow their US launch of Deathsmiles II XBLA with a European launch.

Delighted to hear Dai-Fukkatsu is getting a PAL release, especially happy that Black Label is going to be available too as there's only so much chaining I can take before it gets too stressful to play (based on my experiences of Dai-Ou-Jou :D)

Pity there's nothing mentioned about Black Label Arrange .....but beggars can't be choosers.

Yeah the Black Label as DLC announcement is curious, they said on facebook they 'couldn't' include it in the disc.

Too much awesome for one disc to hold maybe?

    Of course :P

Cave do seem to have a pretty stringent policy on DLC in Japan anyway. Most of the games except I think Espgaluda have some sort of significant extra mode DLC. It's a bit annoying over there considering the high cost of the game in the first place, but can't begrudge it over here if it's going to be offered at a budget price!

Think I need to lay off the beer as I can't seem to understand what the hell is going on here. Is there a list of what is actually coming and on what format, I feel like I'm getting excited about nothing yet it's from Cave so it must kick áss
