    Hey folks
    Mod Edit:

With this thread about the show ongoing, this forum is probably the best place to let you know that we've just confirmed an interview TOMORROW (edit: this is now happening THURSDAY) with David McSavage of The Savage Eye.

He'll be talking about whatever* you ask him about, as well as his upcoming show in Vicar Street. Blurb on that:
Following the success of David McSavage’s Savage Eye on RTE, David McSavage is back at Vicar St. With his brand new stand-up show “I’m So Happy” live @ Vicar St. March 5th 2011. Tickets are €25 on sale now through Ticketmaster and other usual outlets nationwide.

David McSavage is one of Ireland’s most popular comedians and street entertainers. His cutting commentary and performances cover all aspects of life and nothing is safe from his truth induced interpretations. From The Barman (Mick The Bull) to Father Finnegan, audiences relate to each character from the many parts of Irish life.

A regular guest on TV and radio shows in Ireland for many years, McSavage has also appeared at all the major comedy festivals including the Edinburgh Festival. He is well known for his appearances in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

He devised Headwreckers for the Channel 4 TV show Comedy Lab in 2008.

And in 2009, he devised, wrote and starred in the six part TV series The Savage Eye on RTÉ. The show was nominated for an IFTA award for Best Entertainment Series in 2010 and the second series is on RTÉ
Your questions below are welcome. Love him or hate him, get him talking to you :)

    Cheers

    Darragh

Would he like to meet Degsy?
Is it his goal to piss off every minority group in the country?

"how does it feel knowing that 'The Savage Eye' is the only moderately funny thing you have come up with? Also will you be continuing with your really annoying 'stand up' considering the success of 'The Savage Eye' might open new doors to your career?"

    I would like to know;
    1. If his movie Idea is taking shape?
    2. Will it be auto-biographical?
    3. Will he be in it?
    4. Would it have to be set in Ireland or if the price was right America or elsewhere?

What is your relationship with Pat Kenny and Ryan Tubridy these days; do you get on personally with them?

    Edit..who wrote this shiite?

Is this thread an ad for the "commentary and performances" of McSavage?

I'd like to know why he changed the Joe Duffy characters name to John? Was he told to do this? Pat Kenny isn't given a pseudonym. Not sure if was answered in the other thread.

Did he think RTE wouldn't allow the show to be shown considering some of the controversial topics?

What does he think of the boards.ie community?

How does it feel to go from being a piss poor street performer to having a TV programme thanks to nepotism?

    How so?

Do you feel that being obnoxious to strangers on the street and insulting them is a legitimate form of entertainment? How do you feel when it blows back violently in your face?

What are your TV plans after The Savage Eye? I have to admit it's had me in stitches of laughter a good few times but does seem like something that could run short of material in a while.

Oh yeah, and what was that Sugar Club meltdown thing all about? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVvg_Wfha8U

Do your nipples get hard during the Joe Duffy skit?

What are the problems that the Irish television industry present for first-time creators/writers and how does the general lack of a pilot system affect creators?

Congratulations on the success of The Savage Eye.

I think it is safe to say that you have in the past inspired disproportionately high levels of dislike/hatred from certain people (even allowing for your status an edgy comic). How did you account for this to yourself?

If i wrote quality television and it was rejected because I had a connection in RTE, i would feel hard done by. Wouldn't you?

He's still a piss-poor street performer at the heart of it..those Fianna Fail connections can get you on the telly faster than anything stupid like talent.

oh grow up. He got the show off the back of a very successful stand up career. Just because you dont like it, doesnt mean others don't. The show has proved hugely popular, and his stand up was one of the best I've seen, yet you still think that because you don't like him, nobody else should either. Stop derailing the thread with your personal vendetta.

Degsy - stop derailing thread please. First and only warning.

    Dear Mr Andrews,

To what degree are you and your family ashamed of cousin Ryan Tubridy and his fixation with JFK, American politics, Mad Men, America in general, jelly babies, books, slippers, nice things and Willy Wonka...

How long do you think he will last on the LLS before he's found out and shipped off to Lyric FM??

    Thanks.

    Telekon.

Dave, in your meanderings about RTE I'm sure you have come across/walked passed the very people you deride - Pat Kenny, Joe Duffy, Blathnaid, Hector.

Have you ever gotten any sorts of abuse and/or praise from said "personalities"

Ps: Your Hector skit in the bookies was solid gold.

I'm gonna ask some serious questions, a change for me..

    1. How does your brother feel about you effectively parodying him?
    2. Have the BCC received many complaints about you, particularly your homophobic sketches?
