I'm going to be in vegas some time real soon. Just wonder if anybody has any recommendations on things to do/not do. Where are the good places/ not so good places to play poker etc?

Cirque Du Soleil in the MGM, KA is the name of the show.

It would be a crime not to see this when your there, the tickets are more expensive the closer you are to the front but get as close as you can afford, you will be blown away by this, believe me!

You have to do this, I was over in August and the missus made me go... so glad she is the boss, it is fantastic, worth every single penny.

Complain about your room, you will get an upgrade :D

Oh and don't fly Delta, they are shocking.

Fix in the Bellagio is possibly one of the nicest steaks ive eaten. Get the side order of onions and fries and check out the fake tits on all the hot cocktail waitresses. Heaven on so many levels.

I always thought that name has to have been a terrible business decision. Also avoid the Rio between 5 to and ten past the hour, they have the most head-wrecking show imaginable just off the main casino floor
Spamalot is on at the Wynn, well worth going to see

    Hoover Dam.
Poker at Cesars, this was the only place I played while there but I thought the service was excellent (not the play).
As someone said above get a helicopter to the crand canyon, we drove and it's like a 12 hour round trip. We got lost and only get to the canyon an hour before dark. It was still amazing but we almost missed it. Subsequently I got a heli around Hawaii and helicopters are amazing. Do it.
    More poker.

Oh ya one other thing. I stayewd in a Travel Lodge motel on the strip when I was there. It cost like $25 and was bang in the centre of everything and had all the mod cons and comforts. It's on the MGM side and almost across the road from the Bellagio. Pool is **** but you can sneak into the pool at cesars easy. Defo recommend it.

    Texas Bonus Poker

Best game known to man! make sure you bonus it up a notch!

If you're a scifi fan a pint in quarks in the hilton is worth a go.

Also, looking at the girls dancing on top of the slots and the fogies not batting an eyelid is the funniest thing ever!

Find out where Big Elvis is singing and go! Hopefully the man, the myth, the legend is still alive, not a certain prospect given the fact I haven't been in Vegas for more than 4 years (very sad :() and he weighs 500lb - 500lb of pure musical magic. He used to play in the Barbary Coast during the day, a few days a week. Even spotted some 'lesser' Elvis's (should that be Elvii?) skulking in the background during one show, trying to learn a thing or two from the master.

Poker in the Venetian...possibly best structured tournaments over there....cash in MGM (or any where)...easy money!..thats all I done for two weeks:o

if you cant get a seat in delmonicos, the capital grill at the fashion show mall does the next best steaks

this year i went on a raft trip down the colorado, black canyon tours rafting, do a tour about 120 bucks, pick you up from your hotel, as close to the base of the dam as anyone can get they ae the only crowd licensed to do this too and take a 12 mile trip down river, make sure to sit on the outside pontoons and while the waether is roasting the water in the river is still freezing - takes about 4 hours to go the 12 miles

the poker room in the bellagio is pretty plush

while not for too much i cashed 3 times out of 5 in the 65 dollar tourneys in caesars, just bide your time and the chips will come to you

the monday pot limit omaha there is good too

the pussycat doll dealers in caesars a few nights a week are so hot

jeez i seem to have spent a lot of time in that place:D

    anyway enjoy it

Anybody flown with AA aer lingus or Virgin to Vegas? Opnions?

I've flown Virgin long haul for years - they are the business

never ever go for all-in packages, you will save much more by finding your own hotel and flight deals

Virgin is fine, Aer Lingus to LA is also good. Sort out your own flights and accom online, youll save a fortune over package deals and have a lot more options. THis year I flew Dublin-London-Vegas, on the way back I flew Vegas-LA-Dublin.

As mentioned Ka in the MGM and O in the Bellagio are excellent, Mystere in TI not as good. Spamalot is strange, the sketches that are direct copies of MP sketches are fantastic but then they add in new stuff which isnt great.

Grand canyon can only be experienced properly by hiking down to the bottom and back. One of the best experiences of my life

Planet Hollywood has one of the best buffets in Vegas - life altering experience - their chicken fajitas is unequalled......

Also they have girls on poles in the main casino:)
Poker room is right by the entrance so lots of little fishies wander in - standard is as bad as anywhere else in Vegas
