Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Pixies rocked! Kings of Leon looked kinda sulky though....and Sofia, I saw you there! (Didn't I? I think I did....) The pit was great, but I was next to this short, smelly, pointy guy, and he kept, oh how can you describe it, humping my leg?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 652 ✭✭✭Jim_Are_Great

Ok, people, The Pixies have come and gone. Now is the time for Maiden.

I presume we'll all be standing, yes? Where and when should we meet, eh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

I'm getting my bus ticket today. Meet behind the stands. In fact, I'll call you all when I get there and we'll meet somewhere noticeable, but not too crowded.

I met two lovely guys at Scissor Sisters last night who'll be at Maiden. So if you meet two guys called Matt and Ivan tell them Liz from Scissor Sisters says hey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Meet up in town or something before the gig and we can all head over together.

I was at that actually! Twas really good, his electric guitarist played a Brian May style guitar solo in American Pie! :D

...Here's an idea, how about using just one post to say all three of those things

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 407 ✭✭Love

Because it's just as easy to use three. And I felt like it.

Well, The Pixies people had their raving-about-the-pixies-time, so now I'm-a takin' my equivalent:

    MAIDEN.
    FUSKING.
    RULED.
    PERIOD

"fusking"? How on earth did you make that mistake? If it is indeed a mistake. Perhaps you just speak a different language to the rest of us.
And is anyone going to Bob Dylan? 26th November, the Point? And if you want to slag off Bob now, you should speak to one of my friends first. They will advise you on exactly how good that idea is (ie not very).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

    Fuck is a censored word

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Karlusss

Bob Dylan hasn't been able to sing since 1980 at best. A concert by him is entertaining only in the same way that standing near him would be. I.e. probably quite entertaining, but not very musical.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I'd like to echo the sentiments of Jimmcha. I may have queued for seven hours for my pit pass, but dear god was it worth it! Being up front for both Maiden and and Manson was outstanding. Turbonegro, the less said the better to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭Undergod

    They were so wonderfully gay!

Manson's stage show ruled, with the stilts. And Maiden. Sigh.

The crowd would have done anything for that man, had he asked it of us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

if by "crowd" you mean Dave, then yes. :D But seriously dude, Turbonegro just sucked. I found the whole act quite pathetic.

    FUSKING - it's a me'n'Dave Whyte in-joke. So go away. Don't correct me again. EvAr. :D

That was the first smiley I ever used on Boards...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

How you know that is beyond me... in-jokes for teh win!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 652 ✭✭✭Jim_Are_Great

    Know what?

So yea - Maiden kicked so much ass, didn't they? I mean, if they kicked any more it would proabaly have been illegal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭Mocha One Sugar

Anyone going to My Chemical Romance on November 10th?
and by "anyone" i mean REAL fans that have liked them from the start (that being a year and a half ago) not just in the past three/four months....
    *glowers and hates mainstreamness forever*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

I'm going, but I guess I'm totally mainstream 'cause I've only known them for nine months.

Have to agree with Aonghus. I like knowing a few largely unheard of bands, but I'd like them to get the success and recogniton they deserve, instead of playing to tiny audiences their entire lives. The mainstream has an effect on artists though, and tends to enforce a policy of radio-friendliness. However, MCR have been a basic emo band since they started, and it wasn't a year and a half ago either: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was released in 2002, so at least know the facts.

I have to agree with It Wasn't Me and Raph. The people who go on and on about how they 'liked such-and-such a band before anyone else had heard of them, before they got popular' etc. and therefore are a 'real fan' do my head in. Yes, I listen to some bands that many people haven't heard of, no, I don't think this is a reason to brag or have competitions with others about who knows the most unheard-of bands. Yes, I listen to some bands whose popularity has grown, no, I don't think the newer fans are any less 'real' than me. And I would hate it if someone thought I was any less a fan of any band I've started listening to lately than they were because they started listening to the band a year or so before me.

Plus, Dragonforce is a likelihood for me. \o/

    woot! \o/ Aine at Dragonforce!
