Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seriously, how could anybody NOT like Madness?

    Joe Duffy, maybe!

God gave rock'n'roll to you, eh? Yeah, I love it, but it doesn't exactly ROCK, does it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,259 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Can't wait for the series to start!

KISS, Quiet Riot, Van Halen, Motley Crüe...

    *soils self*

The original by Argent is a bit dry, but when KISS got their hands on it they turned it up to Eleven ...

Yeah, make no mistake, I was talking about the original (it was on bbc4 at the time).

The Kiss version is solid gold!

Better move over to this thread!

Totally Seventies British Rock and Roll is on next. Sounds great, but I remember being disappointed by a show with a similar name on BBC4 before.

Translation: Are Led Zep on this or what?

Grand Irish Jig on Marty there!

I've seen this Parnes bit before...think it was on The Beatles Anthology. Now there was a series.

Reg Smith doesn't have the same ring as Marty Wilde all right!....:)

Looks alright all the same. Tough night, tv-decision-wise.

I treated myself to the DVDs of that last year, love it. It's sad when you see George talking, knowing he hadn't long left.

I love listening to these old Rockers talking so enthusiastically about their early days.

It must be amazing to have such a passion in your life. And even better to have made a good living from it.

Did the same a couple of years ago. Watched them all in a week. Outstanding.

Speaking of George, Joe Brown's "I'll see you in my dreams" is the no.1 reason I got a Ukulele for Christmas. I'd do a youtube clip if I could on the phone!

Re Mott the Hoople - great little programme worth seeing, the causal rocker will probably recognise more songs than he/she expects.

Jaysus, Badfinger had a fairly tragic end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

So sad watching Badfinger, knowing what happened to their frontmen RIP

Paul McCartney wrote their big hit

They wrote Harry Nilsson's big hit

Ah, the good ole days of TOTP when the audience kept looking over their shoulder to check that the cameraman wasn't going to run them over!

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

    And the fog/mist.......

And the tank tops on the lads.......:)

    Happy Days...

Speaking of Joe Brown, I often wonder why his daughter Sam had only limited success. I think I might have seen her on Jools Holland's Hootenanny a few years back.

    Is that Ronnie Wood?

He appears to be playing a toilet seat.

    A toilet seat guitar?!?!?!

Sam was a backing singer on Pink Floyd's Pulse tour last I heard of her, and that was a long time ago...Her debut album was great.

Ha! I have actually tried a little finger tapping on it! Sounds better than i expected (but still not quite suitable for public consumption!).

That Stone the Crows singer is like a younger thinner more Scottish version of Beth Ditto from The Gossip.

Some friends of mine used to rave about the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

    They were before my time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

This has to go down as the one of the greatest floor fillers ever!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,673 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

I have to be honest, this show started brightly but has gone fairly downhill, I think.

I mean, The Quo! Come on!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

I see Status Quo are playing the Llangollen Eisteddfod this year.

Good decision, you won't see a better rock act this side of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

    Ah, I like the Quo.

Anyone who holds the TOTP appearance record has to be doing something right.

I was in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch once, on the way back from Liverpool. Nice spot, if I have enough drink taken I make a decent stab at pronouncing it :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,749 ✭✭✭✭grey_so_what

I still remember the thumping in your ears after a Thin Lizzy concert.....

Marshall Speakers may have me on "hidden hearing" ads at some stage...:)

    Worth every bit of it.
