tech acid style free download also any feedback welcome!

Deffo like the quirkiness on this one. Samples are great and the track is produced very cleanly. The 303 is brought in very smoothly and it's all quite bouncy.

    Nice.

I like the melody on this one Keith. It's the kind of track i like to hear when i walk into a club. It grooves nicely and isn't lost in complication. I do agree with the hats issue. They do sound mechanically flat. Something lighter perhaps.

I have that problem with patterns meself. I use Battery and don't spend enough time thinking about changing up the sounds.

This comes with an "Ambient" warning. Not sure if there's a market for it around these parts :-)

Recorded yesterday, It's a tad long and a little linear perhaps, and i will probably revisit it with a view to remixing.
It's my attempt at some musical ****, as some like to call it. If you've fallen asleep a quarter of the way through....job's oxo.

Had a listen last night and I like it. Lovely lush pads and some nice swirly effects. Good vocal sample too. Maybe the main pad could be dropped out every now and then. I wonder would the little four note melody be better of going up the scale rather than down?

Its long but kept my interest throughout. Very nice chilled song, stick some trippy samples in there and it could pass as a Mixmaster Morris track from back in the day. Nice work Paul

I wanted it to be very melodic and have two separate melodies on each drop but sound similar to each other, I'm trying to get as creative as possible especially in the area of music i make such as hardstyle and hard-trance:

I loved the start of this with the 303 riff and big kick. The effected vocal didn't add anything for me and it's too low in the mix. I was surprised when the track changed directions and morphed into a more piano driven house style. I'd rather you continued the acid style :-)

The vocal chorus works well here and reminded me a bit of Underworld in their mid career.
Levels tend to jump drastically at times. I think the overall Eq could be tweaked just to seperate the mids and highs a bit.

Your tracks always sound well to be fair. I'd probably prefer the second drop but I think you need to reduce the levels of the main synth a tad. Not sure if you have a limiter on it but there seems to be subtle volume ducks througout that are a bit off-putting (Soundcloud can do that itself too though).
I think it might be an idea to layer the piano melody with the big synth one every now and then as well which would again add a bit of interest.

Have the same thing to say about both these tracks. They're both great, I especially love Subtle Effect. But the same problem persists in both, the vocals are lost in the mix. Try some EQ to bring them out a bit more, or simply just up the levels a bit.

Thanks for the feedback! I will take it on board and spend a bit more time on the mix so! I think I'll have to invest in proper mastering anyway.

Lovely main synth melody. Put me in mind of some good early 2000s trance. Obviously the electro percussion keeps it in that vein but there's an interesting balance there. Production sounds tight.

Excellent track Paul, you are jumping in and out of genres recently and pulling it off.

I really like that bassline and think it should be a bit more prominent in the mix maybe

Beautifully epic. Has that Hardfloor groove and Wink-esque distortion. Only
negative for me is the open hat, a bit too splashy. Otherwise I'm hooked :-)

Definitely got the funk down. Some lovely filter work and nice arrangement. Good use of the vocal well. Nice summer vibe. I wonder is the kick slightly overcooked though?

Thanks! Yeah I just noticed that the melody is eating up the kick a bit... I don't really use limiters because it takes a chunk of the kick away leaving most of the punch gone, but ill try solve the volume ducks! thanks :D

Nice track. Good melody and the arpeggiation works well underneath. Pronounced bassline and sharp analogue style perc.
The kick seems to have different length reverb every second hit which is a bit odd sounding (to me anyway). Also the kick is perhaps lacking a bit in the midrange.
Overall a very pleasant summertime vibe. :-)

    No link?

EDIT: I found it on Soundcloud.

The start of the track is pretty decent although the deep pad that comes in is a little bit lost in terms of mixing and eq. The breakdown again starts of good by at 52 there is a significant volume drop in the main melody that is too severe. The filter or eq applied is also too extreme and it all sounds a bit reedy. At the drop at 1.30 the sound doesn't come back sharp enough. You can hear everything being turned back on. Should be a straight cut. At 2.02 you have brought in a horn sound which doesn't fit in well IMO. Sounds out of tune with that plucked melody. Arrangement is pretty good overall but I think you need to work on sharpening your atomation processes and clearing up some eq.

PS. I was unable to locate the original mix for a fuller comparison

New remix, straight up house with a bit of garage and r&b on the sides. Focusing more on percussion than synths on this one. https://soundcloud.com/scoob89/lauryn-hill-doo-wopscoobz-remix

Great vocal work at the beginning of the track.
I'm not mad on the rap section but that's nothing to do with the underlying beats. In terms of the percussion it's very well implemented. Some good balance control gives space to the different hits and there's some cool filtered risers and pitch work on fills that sounds great. Nice choice in the variety of perc used as well.
I think the vocal in general is a tad too high in the mix perhaps.

Sweet job. Love the vinyl crackle and the analog dirt on the percussion. Layered very well towards the full sound near the end of the track. Nice drum programming and some nice keys to offset some of the harsher sounds.

Great groove on the hats. Bassline is a little soft for me in the attack but the melody of it is well worked out. Quite an old skool feel to the overall track which works for me. Love that synth stab that comes in around 2.00. Sweet break at 3.38. There's a slightly harsh sound to the main hats that is a tad off putting but nothing major. Nice work again.

Serious track, you got a lovely jazzy groove going. I like the way you have your drums panned like an actual kit would sound to a listener at a live show. Fairly wide sound all around. I love this kinda dark trip hop sound, if thats what you'd call it. Nicely done

So I finally managed to get this track finished more or less to my liking. There seems to be some artefacts at the beginning of the track but I think that's a Soundcloud issue. Not sure what genre to put it into but it's fairly upbeat overall.

^ Pretty nice track that one, I think I like the second half better, from around 5 minutes in. It's a really nice keyboard part. The flanging part is pretty cool, don't hear that much nowadays! Bit of a Chemical Bros / early Moby feel here.

(little plug for myself here, the Geisha EP is now out, links in my sig! Let me know what you all think!)

I think there are some decent elements in here but unfortunatley for me the main synth / pluck are the weakest. The pluck is a bit too thin and sounds isolated in the mix. I think you'd be better off layering the pad that comes in with the synth at 1.07 with the pluck so as to give a bit more body to the track. That pad has a nice reosonance that I would like to hear more of. The change to the synth at 1.07 is very sudden and could do with a structured intro, even someting simple like a snare fill or reverse crash hit.
In terms of arrangement I think you could do with a longer breakdown and some variety in the second half of the track.

Not a style I'd listen to a lot of of but I liked it. Nice filtered keys and lovely bass pad. Nice vocal snippets as well. Mix in general sounds good although to me the EQ needs some tweaking. The keys/bassline are a bit in competition with the kick and I think the hats, claps and snare could do with bringing out the highs a bit more.

Vocal implemented very well into the track. I think it could easily be files under House, not what I was expecting from a chill track. Nice percussion throughout and the piano melody is good. One thing I wasn't made on was the synth stabs that come in at 1.07 which have a bit too mouch movement on them for me. I think you'd have a really funky number if you replaced that with a nice analogue bass sound. The clap/snare is a bit far back in the mix for me when the track is in full swing.

Thanks for review Mordeith. You are right, finished product is not much chillout track:-)..That lead was a bit questionmark for me. I can try to put on some analog synth instead of it lets se what will happen. The snare is a bit lost in the mix.

    Take care
