Decided to start a cycling log as it doesn't really fit in with the strength training log I have going in another forum here.

I'm a 98kg 30 something who got into cycling about a year ago as a means of getting in and out of work & the cycling bug caught soon after.

I'd average 100km a week commuting in and out to work & would try to get another 50-100km at the weekends weather permitting.

I did the Meath Heritage 100km soon last summer and am hoping to give the 160km a craic on July 27th so that's what I'm training for at the moment.

    Tuesday - June 18th
    40km

    Tuesday - June 25th
    64km - 2 hours 47 min
    Average speed 23km/hr

    Tuesday - July 1st
    110km - 4 hours 55 mins
    857m climbing
    Avg speed- 22.2km/hr

    Thursday - July 3rd
    65km - 2 hours 46 mins
    420m climbing
    Avg speed - 23.4/hr

The cut off for the Meath heritage 160km is 77km in 3 hours.
I'm not too far away from that now but will be tough all the same.

If you can get into a group it's probably going to be a lot easier than you think as you get a lot of benefit from drafting others, and with the company you'll probably feel the time fly by

Given the distance you are putting in, you should be fine with that 77km option

    Morning cycle
    55.4km - 2 hours 7 mins

    272m climbing
    26km/hr average

if you take out Howth hill, the average was over 30km/hr.

    Good spin

    Morning cycle

    Stillorgan - Howth - malahide - Ashbourne - Finglas - south circular - Stillorgan

    95km
Moving time - 4 hours or so

Averaged 23km/hr as far as Ashbourne, forgot to press record on strava for way home via Finglas, very frustrating.

    Tuesday - 20km - 45 mins

    Wednesday
    128km
    5:22:00
    568m climbing
    24km/hr average
    Max speed 67km/hr

I did the first 77km in 3:10 so not far off the Meath cut off now and a lot of traffic lights in the first 25km of spin

Looking forward to the 27th now

You'll be grand, a bit of adrenaline on the day itself, and latch into a nice group, you'll be surprising yourself.

Spin class this morning for 40 mins.

Really don't get why they have people do out of the saddle "sprints" on a stationary bike when you can't rock the bike from side to side
