Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ham all the way. I only put up with the turkey at x-mas to get to the ham.

Plus, ham sandwiches with brown sauce are the ****ing business!

    Ham
I picked turkey, purely because it just goes better with stuffing. Besides, the only really good bit on the ham is the glaze. My family have picked most of it off before the yoke gets to the table.

    Ham
I'd go with turkey - both because it's not something I'd have very often (compared to ham), and it tastes nicer than ham (IMO) when smothered in thick gravy :D And, of course, stuffing :3

    Ham
We have spiced beef on christmas eve and turkey AND ham on christmas day for dinner in this house.

I voted turkey, starting to regret it thinking about it now though. :pac:

Roasted goose wiv roast spuds, honey glazed carrots, sprouts, a wad of stuffing with enough onion and garlic in it to ensure nobody snogs me till january, oh and a mountain of marrowfats with gravy dripping down like lava out of Vesuvius.

Don't forget the plonk too. Then retire to the couch, jeans button undone. Wake me up when The Great Escape* starts. :P

(*) The movie, not me mickey rising up out of me jeans when I'm snoozing

Well it's too late telling us that now, I've already cut the head of the turkey, the pigs been hanging for the last two days. Do you want them to have died in vain, it was the pigs dying wish that he be a
Christmas ham. Do you really want to step on his dreams?

Ok OP - give it up. C'mon, admit it... What do you know that the rest of us don't? Why the need for a choice between Turkey and Ham this year? Do you work in the Dept of Finance?

It wouldn't be an easy choice for me cos I'm a fan of both at Christmas, but it would have to beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..........

    Ham....

    No, Turkey.....

    No, definitely the Ham.........

    But I like Turkey........

BY the time you pile up the stuffing, cranberry sauce, bread sauce and gravy, does it really matter which dead animal is underneath it all? :D

    Ham
Definitely turkey. Ham is too salty :(
But I could take or leave either really, not big into meat. It's the rest of the dinner I love. The stuffing and all the different potatoes and veg...... NYOMS!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

    Ham all the way!

Nothing better than a nice warm Ham 'Rambo' on Xmas eve just after it's done, warm ham melting the butter, oh yes!

Turkey.....could take it or leave it tbh!

    Ham
anyone ever see the episode of the royale family where they all say that the turkey was horrible, dry and the don't really like turkey anyway. Then Barb says oh, well I won't do it next year so, and they all go mad.

thats what ye lot remind me of :D

It has to be turkey - nothing else will do as a substitute - okay you can have ham, duck, goose, steak WITH the turkey but if it is only one it has to be turkey
