Do many people know the origin of the word 'Balooba's??

Myself and my brothers used it in front of my Uncle in the pub before, he got a bit (very)upset (to say the least) and offended.

The word derives from the African tribe the Baloobas who were involved with clashes with Irish UN Peace Keeping troops in the Congo in the late 20th century.

It can't of being well documented, my dad (a couple of years younger) hadn't heard of it.

The Baloobas tribe were known for being a bit... mad in the head.

Still, I think it's a fantastic word, wonderfully descriptive of a drunken state!

what about spaced? when youre too pished to do much but sit in a heap and stare into space.

im quite fond of 'pished' too, as an alternative to pissed. it sounds drunker and more fun

on a serious note this thread is pretty shocking don't you think, we shouldn't promote drunkeness as the be all and end all of life, what with the rugby world cup on grab a ball and have some real fun in a local park, it will do you all the world of good, forget about alcohol
