Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Paulaner, Schneider Heffe Weiss or Maisels Weiss

Pretty much any decent German beer, I am quite happy to pay for decent beer

    Erdinger if i'm out.

anything else (€1 bottles(except budweiser if you can call that a beer)) when i'm not.

Guinness gets my vote, again if you know your getting a good pint...
favorite foreign brew would be Mahou, a Spanish beer but unfortunately haven’t seen it for sale in Ireland.. Anybody seen this around????

Bud if i have to drink beer, love vodka! Also like coors light (dont give out it just goes down so easy):D

My favourite beer brand would be Guinness followed by Grolsh and Brahma. I like how simplistic the Guinness marketing material is and how they have a traditional line through them mostly........ Brahma is brazillian with some very funky street art and cool brading........or is this what is your favourite type of beer? Sorry i work in the beverage industry so i got side tracked and nerdy.

Favourite beer is presently Paulaner and Lech, but it varies with Guinness always being Number 1.

I'd go with Heineken because I drink that when I'm out!!

But I love imported beer, a german beer called Spaten was the last one to take my fancy.

Yes I've tasted Mahou (pronouned "Maugh") in Spain before, it's alright but nothing special.

What a horrible beer - I've heard it has more chemicals than any other beer in the world, and I'd well believe it.

    Guiness.

After that lagers, such as Spaten, Staropramen, Leffe Blond, Tuborg (cheap but really good), but most importantly, I like to try a variety of beers to keep it interesting.

    Good old reliable Smithwicks.

Staropramen, good to see a few pubs around town have it on draught now.

I like good quality beer like Spaten or Budvar and I tend to stock up on a couple of bottles of anything new I see in the loacl offie.

    Guinness and Carlsberg at home

Carlton Cold and Pure Blonde over here.

    For shame.
For even more shame cos I drink it too.
    Better than that VB shoite.
I like the ole Pilsner Urquell or Staropramen if I can, or that Chang beer is some lovely stuff. But in fairness the one thing I really want that I cant get over ere is a pint of Smithwicks.
    Man thats underappreciated stuff.

:o For shame indeed. It's just so nice though!

And agreed on VB. What horrible tasting piss that is. How somebody would voluntarily drink it I'll never know.

Guinness, Smithwicks or Staropramen. however, obviously depends on availability and quality.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 35,945 Mod ✭✭✭✭dr.bollocko

Me housemate swears by the VB. So do a fair few of the hardened beer drinkers I've met in bars here in Melbourne. I just dont get it. It's swill.
Now the Pale Ale stuff aint bad at all.
Funny. but a few days ago I actually found 500ml cans for the first sime since I got to Oz, so frigging delighted cos the 370ml or whatever just isnt enough. So I actually bought cans of Amsterdam lager and enjoyed it like it was the finest beer on the planet.
    Tasted like Ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,899 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

500ml cans? Fuck me I haven't seen the like in a long time! Found myself drinking Amstel when I was out the other week just to get a European taste.

Warsteiner tbh! and at €1 a bottle you can't go wrong. Unless you buy 50.

Next up would be Staropramen, Heineken while i'm out, or anything interesting if i can get away with it!

Used to be Budweiser, but ive migrated to Smithwicks a while back.

A question - is Corona an acceptable drink for a man to drink?
Im a big fan of a few bottles at home, with lime, of course.

But I cant shake the feeling Im developing a metrosexual side.......

    Guiness.

That could be true, if you read my full post you'll see that i was being a big nerdy mcnerd and going on about my favourite brand, rather than my choice of what id like to drink.

Hummmmmmm, very dodgey territory, i think its only acceptable to have corona when indulging in a Mexican food themed night, when accompanying enchiladas and such, and followed by a tequila or 3......but thats just me! :pac::pac:

I moved to Smithwicks just before Xmas.

It's not the nicest ale available, that would be MacArdles, but Smithwicks is alright. I sometimes get it with a guinness head.

I was in The Sugar Club at the weekend, and I had to teach the barman how to do it

    Agreed, disgusting stuff tbh.

Carlton Cold Xavi? That's a wimmins beer.

Carlton Draught is the biz though, love the quiz questions on the caps!

Crown Lager, also from the Carlton stable, is a nice beer, if not a bit overpriced.

The Coopers range is also delish, and I recently had the stout, man, nicer than bottled guinness.

    Don't like Tooheys New.

Hahn Premium has a bit of a european kick to it, probably the hoppiest of the Aussie beers, and is lovely on tap.

I thought it was acceptable but only acceptable (never recommended) if there was no lime in it...

However, I like it too. I find it very refreshing on a hot day.
Head's up though.... if you are drinking outside with fruit in your beer bottle ALWAYS check for wasps before drinking!!!

Or THIS could happen to you.....

Macardles is indeed the creme de la creme of Ales, although Smithwicks is a fairly good but underappreciated drink.

Love the Aussie beers myself (and the Monteiths from NZ). Especially the slightly pricey Crown and the excellent Coopers. Haven't been on the Coopers Stout yet but i have heard its good.

Pure Blonde is actually really good as well. Regardless of the whole low-carb bullsh1t attached to it.

I would also add Resch's to the list. Very underrated even in Oz. Generally not found in flashy establishments.

Also got on the Boags there at Christmas and it was good stuff but again pretty pricey.

It is what i would describe as a good blue collar drink.

I actually forgot to include the ol Harp in my previous post. It would be my lager of choice. None of your fancy american sh1te for me thank you very much.

I like a drop of McArdles, but not many places I drink in sell it, so I stick to the Guinness.

Top beer for me though, is Wadworths 6X, tis made by the gods I tell ye:D
