Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is something we have done on boards.ie for the past 2 years and its a nice way to track your handicap progress.
All you need to do is post your username, 2015 starting handicap, 2015 goal, current exact handicap and the date you are posting your update.
Then as changes occur throughout the year post your update in the same format.
I will post a new table with updates to handicaps at the top of each new page.
It's also good for rivalry and railing if your close in handicap to other boards users, trying to get ahead of them, or not letting them get ahead of you
As GoldenJohn said in the last post of the 2013 thread, " Can we get a year end update of the table so i know what i have to do to get in the top 50 as part of my 2014 goals."
That's what its all about. Setting yourself targets for the year ahead and giving you something to aim for
Some stats from 2014
Of the 82 member who posted their details, 61 people achieved an overall reduction of their handicap, with 23 people bettering their handicap goal.
That's a brilliant success for the forum as a whole.
Of the 61 people who did achieve a reduction, the top 5 biggest losers by percentage of handicap lost were ::
5. denisoc16 - 39% reduction in handicap
4. tones69 - 42% reduction in handicap
3. Shane007 - 47% reduction in handicap
2. Seorg - 50% reduction in handicap
1. galwaylad14 - 57% reduction in handicap
He may not have missed his goal by the greatest margin, but for going in the complete opposite direction in an hilarious fashion, Our Hall of Shame "winner" for this season goes to....

who in attempting to achieve a gain in handicap from 8.0 to 9.4 actually and went and got himself cut to 6.9 by seasons end. Well done to you sir

There's no time limit on when people can add their name It's not an official competition as such. It's more a method to compare yourself to other boards.ie users and as a motivational tool for yourself in achieving your handicap goals.
It's nice to measure yourself against your peers. In this case, your peers are your fellow boards.ie users
i.e. yourself and Jimmy are both playing off 15 handicap. He gets cut to 14, posts it on here, bragging about how awesome he is and you're like, well screw you jimmy, I'm going to get ahead of you!
The stats I posted in the original post were again, just for motivation and for users this season to see if they can emulate the users of last season 0 -

Some really ambitious targets being given which is brilliant to see!
It's not that ambitious Benny. Shane007 went from 19 - 10 - so a 9 shot drop is definitely on the cards if you're swinging it well!
