Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just watching the last 2 frames, this is dire!

Ken is playing awful. no control over the white ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

If Doherty can get out of this at 5-3 it's a massive result. He has been so poor. highest break of 24.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

What happens if this runs past 7 o clock? It's looking like it could do now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

Don't have sports channels on telly. Using skygo to watch eurosport. :-) I'm ok now :D

Is he very nervous or something. Quing has been very bad.

Eurosport are good for sticking with coverage.
    Might switch to Eurosport 2.

What I mean is the next session is due to start at 7. Would those games be postponed?

Session 1 ended after 7 frames.

    Doherty 3 - 4 McManus.

Great result for Ken considering his highest break was 26!

Match resumes tomorrow at 10:00 with a 9-frame session.

Incredible result for him. McManus was awful, Ken was indescribably awful. Got out of jail big time.

Break couldnt have come at a better time.

Ken has a great chance of going through considering how bad he is playing but whoever goes through in this match will get annihilated in the next round .

  • Registered Users Posts: 611 ✭✭✭redbuck

Worst game of the tournament so far but well done Ken for getting back in it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

they wont play half as bad whoever gets to the next round,it doesnt always work like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,792 ✭✭✭taytobreath

but surely the darling of dublin can only improve, i watched it all this afternoon and he was like the player of last year and the several years before it, missing the simple shots and just very frustrating to watch, please ken get your crap together, your only 1 frame behind

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

his highest break was only mid 30s i think too, very sloppy misses throughout and no positional play with the cueball, hes still in with a great chance even after playing arguably the worst session of the tournament to be 1 frame down is a great result

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

selby though 13-9 he was made to sweat for a bit ali took two back off the 5 frame lead,he'll surely fancy his chances now to get to the semis

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

Ali Carter is a very frustrating player to watch. Spends half the time shaking his head if small things go against him. He gets too worked up to ever win a World Championships.

ya i was going to post that too

I know he's had his misfortunes but he should quit the head shaking

    it's encouragement for the opposition

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

he did have a very bad run of the ball in the frames before the last session it definitely got to him, he wasnt too bothered towards the end he knew he was beaten,a few of his attempts coming out of a safety were wild

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭tomdempsey200

    pockets definitely way easy

a red just dropped again that was a mile off

    commentators surprised

I hate to say it but this isn't pretty to watch at all. Ken getting away with a lot.
Ronnie just can't seem to catch up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

Ken 6-3 down. McManus looks more on it today so Ken has to up his game big time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭willmunny1990

    What a miss.

Dont see a way back for Ronnie now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

Why can't people pronounce Doherty right. Very annoying.
Some safety from mc manus there to get behind the yellow.
Poor Ken. Shots just aren't coming off for him at all.

The English seem to pronounce it Doc-er-tea for some reason.

"Never in doubt" he says lol

Ken still able to laugh at least. That's two easy blacks he had missed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

Doherty -McManus has to be the worst match ever witnessed at the crucible. Torrid stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

7-3 Mc Manus. Game over for Ken imo.

I have to agree, awful stuff from both of them. Ken is having a stinker!

    Love watching Ronnie break building.
McManus should be winning by more considering how badly ken has played. Such a shame really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,112 ✭✭✭BQQ

Can't believe how badly Ken is playing.

He was great in qualifying and in the second session against Bingham.

  • Registered Users Posts: 41 Forthright

    Ronnie v Perry - Best of 3.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭willmunny1990

Ken would want to pack it in.

    He'll be kicking himself.
He really left it behind him.

sheer class back to back centuries in those circumstances, gotta feel for poor Joe he looked shook there

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,906 ✭✭✭SarahBM

Wouldn't it be great if Ken could make a comeback here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

10-5 gives him a glimmer of hope. 11-4 he needs a comeback similar to 11 years ago v Hunter

Ken did it against Paul Hunter, he was 15-9 down in the 2003 semi final and won it 17-16, and he done a similar thing playing williams in the final, he was 11-4 behind and he got beaten 18-16, he was level with williams at least once i think.

so he's no stranger to:D comebacks

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,513 ✭✭✭seanhynes

    147 on now for ken,surely he couldn't

Difference is Ken is nowhere near the player he was 11 years ago
