Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How charming to be at about a hybrid = Amulet
    Nice!, very nice

He sounds deep, by the sound of it = Abase
I don't get it. Ok, it sounds like abyss, but where does the 'he'
part come in (abe, abba?), and there's no straight definition. :(

A bass (pronounced 'base') voice is a male voice.

Damn, that was so obvious. Let's just say that I'm abased ;)

    Thanks!

Nothing too difficult in yesterday's. The common word in the four perimeter clues was
    class

The only one I'm not too sure about is 12a: Pinches one's back, but not it seems for the spout (4)
SPIN (nips - aka pinches - reversed)
fits the checked letters; however, I'm not sure how this relates to spout.

Yeah, I've just got it now. It's very good wordplay.

Though, I'm still chuckling at a clue that came up about a month ago:

"Mine's a guinness, so I'll bring it in" = importer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭Spike440

    Very good.

Regarding the toilet clue. I was poking around and came up with this:

Toilet (noun): the act of dressing and preparing yourself; "he made his morning toilet and went to breakfast"

Must check it up in Chambers tonight.
