Kinda dangerous to be interfering with signs. Some people wouldn't have a clue if the road was open or not. Whoever messed with the sign should cop onto themselves.

Nobody has interfered with the sign, the went up 10 month's ago the are facing the west coast it's the wind and rain that has washed the paint away

if its a dusty construction site , a little sandblasting probably helped as well.

So what is the latest on the opening date?

Its been a dry winter so progress is presumably flying along?

Any sign of the line painting starting?

It the top layer of asphalt laid yet?

The wearing course will be the very last thing they will do, going by M17's pictures there is is a lot of topsoiling and barrier work to be done yet, as well as some other drainage works. They might start sections and then close that part of the Motorway to construction traffic. I'd say they will be aiming for Summer months for the final surface and lining.

Another piece of news about it today:

GORT TO TUAM MOTORWAY TO OPEN 3 MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The long-awaited Gort to Tuam motorway is on track to open to traffic three months ahead of schedule.

The County Concil executive says the works are progressing well, and route is likely to open in November this year, along with the Tuam bypass.

The drainage works on the new route are now 80% complete, while work continues on the surfacing of sections of the route.

There are around 600 people currently working on the project, and a total of over 2.9 million working hours have been clocked up to date.

Work on structures across the project is progressing well – all structures have commenced construction.

A number of side roads have also been opened as part of the M17/M18 network.

Pavement works are underway, and have already progressed significantly on some parts of the new motorway.

The full scheme, including the Tuam Bypass, is expected to open to traffic in November – three months ahead of schedule.

    Happy days :)

It'll be destroyed with 'do-nuts' from the boy racers, but at least they'd be off the road!!!
