Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

AFL DT: Head to Head League(s)

AFL Dream Team is back again. This will be my 5th year playing the game, and each year I love the game more and more. I have always played in leagues with mates over in Oz, so having a home based league should be a nice change to have some banter in.

So, to gauge interest and the number of leagues we need, can you copy/paste and post the following below:

    Boards.ie Username:
    AFL DT Name:
AFL DT Experience: (Number of years played or n/a if first time)
AFL DT 2011 Rd. Avg: (Approx, if applicable)

Please be truthful with info, as to my knowledge their is no way to find out previous years scores as their is in the FPL. So it comes down to your words.

Leagues will be set up shortly and the invite code will be PM'd to each of you. Each league will contain 18 teams only.

    Important Links:

AFL Dream Team - Register & select your team.

DTTALK - Very useful blog by veterans of the game. Great read.

Fantasy Freako! - I strongly recommend that you register for the Fantasy Freako eZine as a minimum. It's free and it is the best source of Fantasy Stats. If you want to go the extra yard the Prospectus is a Bible.

    Great find!

    AFL Dream Team 2011

Up to 10 now. Probably wasn't made clear in the opening, but the reason for asking for the scores is to gauge your activity. Generally, below 1700 usually means you were not that active and possibly lost interest. 1800-2000 is kind of what we are looking for so that the overall competitiveness of the league is kept up. I'd like to have one of the highest ranking leagues by the end of the season.

I'll PM the invites to the league around this week. Any preference or inspiration on the League Name?

Something relating to Jim Stynes for a league name?

I got one a few days ago. Maybe rest will be pm'd as well but I'm not really into this screening potential league members lark if it means regulars on here are gonna be excluded tbh. My feeling would be just have a boards league open to everyone on here regardless of level?

Sorry, been travelling the last two weeks so haven't been on. I overlooked the wait period for the PM's so a few didn't send. Will send PM's round to everyone now.

Alternatively I can just post the league code on here, if evertone is happy with that. The reason to 'screen' was not to keep regular members out, it was to allow just regular members in. If you are a regular member you will post in here, therefore get a PM and can join up. If it is just posted on the forum anyone can join up, thus excluding members from the league and running the risk of having inactive players bringing the standard down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭DoctorGonzo08

OK, PM's should be sent to everyone now. There are 5 joined up to the league at present, with 8 invites gone out. That leaves 5 places left in the league. It will go on first come first serve basis, but you must post your interest to get the PM. Just under 26 days to go to deadline!

I'll join a league if you wanna set it up. Did it last year and did way better than in DT as didn't stupidly waste all my trades by R20!

5 places left in the league and just over 16 days to go.

7:20 pm AEDT, Sat 24 March is the lockout!

For anyone who has been reading through and is interested, just post your interest and I'll send you the league code.

If there are spaces left in the last 7 days I will put the league code on here for everyone.

First come, first serve. I hope we fill the league ourselves rathar than having a autofill who has no interest in the league.

    INVITE CODE: 146389

8 days and 5 places left. Best of luck to Everyone!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭DoctorGonzo08

Less than 24 hours to go!

4 places left. Hopefully we can fill these ourselves rather than having random players thrown in with us. If you have any mates that are interested, the league code is: 146389

  • Registered Users Posts: 237 ✭✭DD Mikasa

3 spots left folks. Let's try and make this an all Irish league

    Code is 353249

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭DoctorGonzo08

Only two places left in both leagues. If we don't get across the finish line I'll just add celebrity coaches to fill the remaining spots in the boards.ie league rather than random alloted players.

The lockout cant come quick enough. I can stop myself tinkering with my team :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Had my first headache with Ryan Griffin being ruled out. Sam Mitchell got the call up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭DoctorGonzo08

Just the 1 place left!! Hurry!!!

    league code is: 146389

    LOCKOUT!!

Swan's Captain Nick Maxwell has been added as the final place in the boards league so you can use beating him in DT as a claim to fame :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,765 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

So we are now locked out and tinkering has thankfully ceased. I (Tipperary Dockers) went with:

    Deledio - Birchall - Broughton - Waters - Hargrave - Clarke - Ellis - Bugg - Morris

    Pendlebury - Boyd - Ablett - Selwood - Goddard - Coniglio - Shiel - Magner

    Leuenberger - Giles - Redden - Stephenson

    Franklin - Fyfe - Martin - Sidebottom - Porplyzia - D.Smith - Hall - A.Kennedy - Dickson

Already planning on trading out one of my Richmond rookies in a few weeks and putting Goddard into the backline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭Mackman

Well that was a bit of a dissapointing round for me, Lake didnt step up in the backs, My captain (Swan), didnt shape up as well as id have hoped. Had a 0 up front too. One of my rookies didnt play

same as that. Varcoe not playing cost me, and had a 0 on the emergency player, with the other forward getting over 110 points. Christianson for the Cats too cost me. If I had a decent score on him, plus the emergency for Varcoe I'd have got close to 2100 points, which is where you need to be at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Two players on the bench with 100+ killed me but a first week over 1900 is a decent foundations.

Told yis Lake would be shite ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 603 ✭✭✭shanemkelly

Didn't have such a bad overall total. The gamble on Izzy didn't pay off but it meant the zero on emergency forwards didn't matter. Left James McDonald (98) & James Magner (103) on the bench :(.
Corey Enright!?! WFT - 38pts! Can only get better I suppose.
Should've left Ablett as Captain instead of transferring it to Sandilands *bows respectfully*.
Repeat to infinity: I WILL NOT WASTE TRADES THIS YEAR. :D
*whispers* was happy with my Eagles contingent though... *let the self-flagellation begin* ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭jackbhoy

Left bloody Pfeiffer in my side even though he wasnt playing, only remembered when walking into MCG and hadn't time to get him out. Enright big let down but glad I went Hargrave over Lake...

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭Blue Shamrock

When do the results go up? Checked it on Saturday and had 2nd lowest score in league but was playing the person with the lowest so Im hoping to hang on!

Haha. Good call. I did take your advice on that and went with Hargreave.

Shaw annoyed me, but my second choice was Broughton so can't complain. Only annoyance was I went with Dangerfield over Sloane, Shiel getting vested with Magner on the bench and Conca getting the sub. Overall though, happy with the start. Think it's my first 2000 start to a season. Usually it's a 1900.

Just 128 points seperate top 8/9. Very good scores in the league. Should be a good season :)

Christ that was a dreadful round for my DT. Everything that could go wrong did. Most of my a-graders didnt get over 100, i had Franklin as my captain. I had Lake on the bench. Not a good start

Yep he scored very well alright.

Made two trades ahead of the weekend because I can't afford any more doughnuts now.

Weedon (WCE) and Howard (WBD) dumped in favour of Milera (STK) and Grimes (RICH). Richmond's back have scored well so far and they play the Dees this week. I also saved some cash and have $75k available to upgrade a few positions over the coming weeks.

Definitely need another points scoring forward as a reserve so that'll be next week's target. Also time to give G. Ablett the captain's armband.

  • Registered Users Posts: 603 ✭✭✭shanemkelly

Had a good week (unlike most it seems!). Captain Ablett, Goddard, Delidio, Magner, Sandilands & my <whispers> WCE 3 </whisper> all brought me over 2100.
When do the player salaries/values change? Am contemplating getting rid of Broc McCauley (4 playing Rucks is too many) & Corey Enright (bad start to season) before their values drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,898 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

When do the player salaries/values change?

After Week 3 which is why I'm getting a few trades in now.

And the league kicks off ... :D

And my season takes a turn for the worse!

Going along nicely in the first 2 rounds, then the real stuff starts and Fyfe and Leuenberger go down early for 22 and 7 points respectively. Plus Dusty Martin continues his sh1t start and James Magner drops off from his huge scores in the first weeks. The only plus was that I remained on the Broughton rollercoaster for his ton.
