    20:00 Tonight people

    Series 19 Episode 2 of 7
    DURATION: 1 HOUR

The brand new series of the world's most popular car show continues with an epic road trip across the western side of the United States in three front-engined supercars. With Jeremy Clarkson in a Lexus LFA, Richard Hammond driving the new Dodge Viper and James May choosing the latest Aston Martin Vanquish a glorious soundtrack is guaranteed, as are furious arguments about which is best as the trio head from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and on to Palm Springs. Along the way, the three presenters take in racing circuits, airborne attacks and a race against the police before making a break for the Mexican border with a terrifying penalty for the last car to make it. Meanwhile, back in the studio, legendary Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood is the star in the Reasonably Priced Car.

Was a bit meh. Looks like they are stretching things out a bit this season.

I liked the Viper, disappointed with the Lexus not even a cup holder in it.

I dunno, i think it looks class but each to their own.
I hate the £340,000 price tag though :(

Almost put you on the ignore list for that snap at the Lexus. :p
I love it, if I won the lotto I'd be straight out to find one.

James May certainly wasn't living up to his captain slow name tonight; some of his overtakes even I'd be a little hesitant to try and the missus is always giving out to me!

    $445,000 for the Nurburgring version.

To be fair its not like Lexus fecked a 550bhp V10 into a Celica.
But that kinda money is mental.

    On Saturday I think.

That was quite disappointing, the first episode last week was far superior. WTF was up with the selection of cars, the Lexus is a supercar while the others are clearly not.... I dunno, poor episode IMO.

I thought it was one of the better episodes quite hilarious in parts,Hammond was a bit cringworthy though.

Not the best one i have seen, in my opinion there running out of things to do!

A good episode of offroading in 4x4's would be good fun, they have never really done this.

They did the episode where they went through the amazon jungle and across south america in 4x4s, which was a pretty class episode. But yeah they could do another one maybe.

That was a special. It wasn't really offroad though, not properly.

They weren't on roads and it was taking hours to move meters, I'd call that off roading.

I wonder when they will show that episode with scooby... Though knowing Top gear Hamonds scooby will catch fire while doing 40 in second gear...

So then Subaru will be marked as most unrelable car in the world by all Petrolheads...

Yep, yet how ever dodgy you think the fields around Ireland are, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say The Amazon Rain Forest is a bit less travelled and a lot harder going.

If you're referring to purpous built off road courses they've done that too.
Range rover sport VS a tank and Mitzi Evo VS the British millitary.
They've driven across Africa in small classics, they driven across the far east deserts in small convertibles.
They've even driven around the English country side in a Daihatsu Terios that looked like a fox.
Why are you so reluctant to admit they've gone off road?
Sure ****, they drive to the bloody north pole!

Specials or not, they've done it and I dare say that's a lot more than anyone in this forum has done.

Question, is this 'New Impreza that's not coming to the UK' not coming to Ireland either, because if it is, it'd boost the Irish motor industry no end.

    Top Gear Korea tried a similar stunt to the UK version and it didn't turn out so well;

Except for the fact that James May admitted last season on the show that the endings were fixed. Can you really believe that they have cameras set up all along the route to capture those drive by moments as they happen or that Clarkson is going at flat out speed with the camera Range Rover ahead ?

I'd love to be proven otherwise but the cynic in me says it's pretty much all staged.

Everything in the show is staged and pre-scripted.

That's precisely the problem, it's gone stale or they are stale. The show's dynamic needs turbo charging. What was once unmissable is now very missable.

Was a bit preoccupied on Sunday and the stupid sky box didn't record it.
I've checked the search function but can't see it repeated, can anyone shed some light on when I can catch it again?
Bbc iplayer won't work for me either.

The ratings figures tell a different story as far as I'm aware.

It's a car based entertainment show now. Anyone who remembers that it was a car show from years back will always be disappointed as it's not aimed at them.

It'#s not a bad light entertainment show if you view it that way

    Exactly.

Anyone that's been to Top Gear live will tell you this. The only difference with the show itself is that they have plenty of time to edit it and make it more punchy.

Top Gear is an entertainment show and not a documentary. ;)

It's been pretty poor this year, bar the race with JC vs the 2 boys, that girl guest driver was brill in fairness too. I do agree they do need to revamp it.
