Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was praying theyd rip it out of Dunphy after his anti German rant.

I mean, he doesnt like Portugal (mainly Ronaldo) cos theyre "not workmanlike" then he rips on Germany for being workmanlike....u cant write comedy better than that!

    "Gaffer Falls" though...classic!

I'm hoping they give them the 3rd place playoff game in its entirity as they did for the last world cup.

I thought I WAS watching Apres-Match until it actually came on! Last night, the real pundits were more hilarious than the apres-match fellas, who had something pre-recorded or in the can, as Liam would say. If they were "loyv", as O'Herlihy would say, they had plenty of material to ad lib on such as with the belief aspect.

I think "belief" has made a great name for itself after last night and replaced "conviction". A telling substitution by Dunphy with that moniker.

I can see it now after the final:

Bill: "So, in summary gentlemen, what did you think of this tournament?"

Eamo: "There was nobody good in it. It was pretty tame and simple stuff. No guile. No pizazz. Its a sad indictment on the modern generation to be honest Bill. No-one is playing in the streets anymore."

Would like to see a bit more of dunphy! The apres match lads have created some fan base in my opinion! One of the best comedies on RTE without a shodow of a doubt!

I agree. Leaving aside a few sketches that misfire, it must be the funniest thing RTE has ever done.

    Woah there.

The funniest thing RTE ever did was having Miley in bed with Fidelma.

    Class.

I'd love to see a panel of Dunphies, commenting on each other's punditry. "His delivery is arch, Bill. It's snide. It smacks of the effete banter of the Sunday supplement, not the solid working-class slagging of the terrace. He's forgotten his roots. It's shallow. It's a joke."

F**k you I have the fricking Glenroe music stuck in me head now!

Did rte ever broadcast that episode where Miley was caught in a compromising position with a sheep?

Interesting that the "badger badger" sketch is winning the online poll.

Not apres related but as funny as.

Did anyone hear Bill say last night. "you know the two german centre half's are known as the twin towers, and of course they were destroyed"

Yeah I noticed that, and the fact that the others tried to change tack by saying "yeah and they move the same way as the twin towers"

Also, Bill doing a parody of himself by saying "Coming up after the break we have Germany v Turkey.....Loyv" and then giggling to himself..

The irelands got analysis sketches were fairly poor though but it looks like they're back to the good stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,884 ✭✭✭madds

What was wrong with Dunphy after they came back from the ad break earlier. He looked rightly p*ssed with someone off camera to his left, and was clearly pointing at them as Bill was trying to restart the analysis. Dunphy was a little unsettled for few seconds and kept looking off camera.

Wonder if the Apres Match guys will include that in their skit on Sunday?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 79 ✭✭scholes19

I'm kinda disappointed that there is only 2,possibly 3 sketches left. That apres match crowd are most entertaining!:pac::pac:

Just saw the Gaffer Falls one and nearly creamed myself. Hilarious

"Steve Staunton and Brian Kerr are locked in a game of cribbage"

Back to the good stuff alright.

Maybe you should contact the Russian and Turkish FA's and ask them if they'd be interested in a play off?

RTÉ should just give them a seperate podcast for the final.

    ++;

they were really really weak. they never really developed any of their ideas properly. I mean the Sellotanta sports digs were probably the best idea they had, but they never really went past that initial 30 secs and resorted to cheap gags like the boxing glove to no real effect. even their last effort today was admirable but meh...

    I didn't like tonight's one.

It's a pity Brady is gone, best character in it now, imo.

    Surpassed Dunphy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 868 ✭✭✭tdv

Yeah Brady was the best out of all the Apres charachters. The way he talked & said "Bill" was great.

Which one on the RTE Website has the "Luas" thing?

"Bill and Liam find out about using Eamon's ratings tracker"

    One of the best ones.

He might still be able to be used. Post Ireland match interviews. Though that may depend on us qualifying for 2010 :)
