Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Personally speaking I would not walk from Harveys key to arturs key at 4am, especially under sarsfields bridge and around the old dunnes stores. Maybe its just because I'm getting old :-b

I've often waited for the 4am bus. I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest. The perception of danger in the city centre is far greater than the reality. I'd suggest that you're more at risk in any other Irish city and some of the big towns than you are in Limerick City centre.

Couldn't agree more...in fact I'm willing to bet that if you somehow managed to get a total of people who have claimed to be hassled or assaulted in Limerick City you would get the exact same total of people who claim to have been in Thomond Park the day Munster beat the All Blacks!!!

I live in galway and never have i heard anything about sex attacks walk around galway during the day and then do the same in limerick and you will see the difference besides the nice buzz around town in galway you dont have all the scobes you see in limerick ..awful place in my view always try to avoid it ..

And yes some fine people live in limerick of course they do no disputing that

You would take precautions in any city at late hours of the night but as i said before i have had more trouble with drug addicts and undesirables hassling me for money in Cork and Dublin than in Limerick.I wouldn't describe myself as a tough looking person but thankfully i have walked around the centre of Limerick at all hours of the day and night without having any problems.Limerick is no more dangerous than any other urban area.In fact i would go further and say that it's safer than the other major urban areas in Ireland going from my own experience.

Well the smart thing would be to take the main route and go up Bedford row to o connell street and on to Patrick Street then.

Audi12 is now on a 2 day holiday for trolling and ignoring a mod instruction. This is not a comparison thread of Galway vs Limerick. If you have a problem with a post please report it instead of replying to a troll. Thanks

I really wouldn't walk the streets at that time now, I've recently been robbed at knife point and it's changed my perspective of this city sadly.

Mod Post: You were asked not to post in this thread again. You have now ignored that request a number of times. Short bans and requests to not post seem to get ignored by you, so now your ban from this forum is permanent.

You can't really compare Galway with Limerick. They're very different. People like Galway because of it's small town laidback seaside holiday feel. Limerick on the other hand is much bigger, feels a lot more urban and has more of a business vibe than Galway.

Limerick to me is more like a typical 'city' (by Irish standards) than Galway due to the long wide Georgian streets, big buildings, Grid layout etc. Typical cities will always have an element of 'rough' working class areas that maybe Galway has escaped due to the relatively recent population surge that drove Galway to having more of a city status as a result of people relocating there as it started to gain the reputation of being a trendy attractive place to live (professional people with money).

Agree with you on all counts.I do think having a higher proportion of working class areas than other cities has hindered it's potential in some ways-possibly companies see the headlines and veer away from investing in the city.
Galway or Kilkenny doesn't seem to have as many problems
