might need some connecting road (or busway) and some widening here and there but the sooner we get the message that bus can be a feeder as well as a service in itself the better

For Jaysus sake it is only a few feet of bloody pipe on the line. You reroute the pipe when you lay down the tracks - was done a thousand times during the Luas build. Get over it.

C'mom Thomas. Even you know that the pipeline gig in meath was complete bull from MCC. It shouldn't have happened if any serious committment was there to reopen the line.(ironically, Martin Cullen signed it off) Furthermore, MCC are the same bunch who were running a Motorway (infamous M3) at grade across the rail alignment in Cannistown(near Navan), until An Bord Pleanala stopped them. These councillors have consistantly and contradictory to themselves, attempted to "bulldoze" the Navan alignment. Luckily, other, unknown interests highlighted that. All P11 did was highlight another example, the pipeline, which will have to be moved and will be an added expense to a reopening that looks more and more unlikely everyday, regardless.

The pipeline issue is 100s of metres, easily remedied (at some cost) but still a clear pointer to the "future plans" for the route.

I don't currently believe the will or desire is there at government level to make it happen. Ashbourne will kill it altogether.

Who would profit from a delay to the Navan line other than the DoT?
Anyone associated with the toll road.
