Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Justine is a great print journalist but she is poor enough at presenting this programme. Maybe she'll become more comfortable with the role over the coming days.

I dunno... Vincent's been presenting it for over six years, and he hasn't got the hang of it yet.

It's quite bizarre that Sean Brady still shows up at state events.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 700 ✭✭✭mikeyjames9

    cardinal Brady should resign

Justine does not look like she is talking into the camera with a lot of much confidence to be honest.

They are talking about Fr Brendan Smith now instead of Ivor Callely.

Tomorrow night's topic: "The French Revolution - successful or not? Or is it too early to judge?"

Justine's jacket looks like it was made from cotton tea towels.

The treatment of those victims that received that barbaric operation have been treated terribly by this government.

If an unemployed person goes to prison their social welfare is stopped. Doesn't apply to the political elite on their massive social welfare payments, though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

If a politician is convicted of a crime whilst in office, they should lose all pension entitlements. The fact that Ray Burke is still in receipt of a huge pension is a disgrace.

I like Mick Clifford, I'll have to tune in tomorrow night to check out his presenting skills. Imagine if John Drennan hosted the show, now that really would be hilarious :D

I'd suggest a drinking game where, every time Drennan speaks in a metaphor or simile, we'd have to down a shot - but we'd probably all be dead of alcohol poisoning by the end of the night.

Are they doing a different present every night these days?

VB sends my blood pressure into orbit most of the time so I rarely watch, but if there's a lucky-dip of presenters I might have to start tuning in again. Thought Derbhail was great the other day, Justine not so much - far better in print than talking.

As much as Vinnie drives me nuts, I wish him well - did I see somewhere that he's been ill for a while?

Mick Clifford has become the new Mary O'Rourke - you can't turn on a current affairs programme without seeing or hearing him on it.

BUT the really corrupt people do not resign.

At least Clifford has something meaningful to contribute and is always worth listening to.

    Top journalist.

Drennan isn't bad either but gets a bit to smart aleky for his own good at times.
Tries too hard to be clever.

When Defendants can sit in court and open snigger at the Judge who is summoning up and saying how "deprived" they are and giving them probation, that's when you despair of the court system.....

The Legal Aid system here is jobs for the boys.

There's no prison spaces to deal with criminals.
If one goes in another gets out.
Loads of crimes committed by people on bail.

Ah now GSW............An acquaintance of mine is a barrister and she says that about 75% of newly qualified barristers in the last five years are female.
Nothing wrong with that......it's just a fact.

These ads completely ruin the flow of the show. We're never again going to have a situation where Vinnie corners a politician and makes them squirm for ages, because the ads will now come to their rescue :(

Apart from the fact they'll run to the hills before they'll come on anyway Harry..:(

I always got a bit of pleasure from the squirming I must admit....:o

    Guilty pleasures....;)

No but it does make a laugh of the term "free education".
