think I'm just up to Episode 4 at this point. Fairly dull so far. It's on my filler list right now. They're a pretty dumb bunch overall and it's far too much of a teen drama. I see they've structured the views of craft leaving the ship in a BSG style. That's nice but it's about as far from BSG as you could get. It kind of bugs me that Clarke has gone from being the voice of Science to the voice of Morality all the while being a bit thick. It's a bit of a harmless show.

It gets better. The tone darkens quite a lot. The difference from the start of the season to the end of it was pretty telling. Stick with it.

just watched the first episode, hope it doesnt turn out to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the Hunger Games.

Didn't realise it was back that soon. I thought the break would be much longer.

Think I'm looking forward to this more than I am to shows I've been watching for years... Hope they can keep up the momentum they had going during the second half of season 1...

I like the fact they haven't been told to do 22/23 episodes for season 2. I think the intensity of the first season was down to having exactly the right amount of story for 13 episodes. I do wonder though, given it's not back until October, are we going to have to have that stupid break over Christmas that most US shows have? It kind of kills the pace a bit on most shows and means they'll have had to write with that in mind, so building up to a "mid-season" cliffhanger and then continuing on in January. Although, most episodes in S1 had kind of cliffhanger endings anyway so maybe it'll be fine.

    Mixed feelings about that episode.

I know last year they had the stuff on the ground and the stuff on the Ark as two separate stories but there was still some connection between the two. Now there's the people still outside, the people in Mt. Weather, Lincoln and Octavia and apparently some nonsense with Jaha still in space. I hope they're not all disconnected for too long.

It's weird seeing them clean and inside too. Prefer the dirty bloody outside people myself :)

I like that they're all kinda separated for the time being, but I don't think it will last long. Obviously Clarke is eager to break out, so I can't see her being in there for more than another two episodes at most and obviously she'll take the lads with her. I can see Bellamy and Finn tracking down Octavia and Lincoln before long too, so the stories will probably intertwine before long.

To be fair, they had a lot of loose ends to bring together from last season's finale and I think they've managed it quite well in the first episode.

Does anyone know if it's definitely just 16 episodes this season or will there be an option for The CW to up the episode count? I do like the idea of just 16 episodes as to avoid lots of filler episodes.

I don't know but I also hope it's just the 16 that they were asked for in May. I assume they'll have planned the season out like they did the 1st and they'll have done it over 16 episodes. I'd assume we'll get maybe 8 episodes before Christmas and then the rest will probably start maybe mid/late February taking them up to a May Finale again.

Good season opener, setting up the season.

Think the president is up to something since his people obviously weren't looking very hard for other outsiders.

Didn't like how they handled Kane, just coming in and stating how things work now. But that's exactly what Bellamy was afraid of.

    Oh and has Clark....um....grown?

we've already got another group introduced, the mutants

Pretty sure that was a Reaper which we've already encountered.

I enjoyed the season opener, there are so many story possibilities now with so many groups on the ground, the Hundred, the Grounders, the Mountain Men, the Reapers and now the people from the Ark.

Hopefully it keeps up the pace as it's an entertaining little show.

I remember her on Neighbours and thinking she could have someone's eye out. She had her jacket on for most of last season so that's probably why it was less noticeable...

Anyway... do you think the Mt. Weather people want the kids for a breading program? I didn't notice any young kids in the group scenes and they're bound to be mostly related to each other now too so maybe they need fresh genetics to carry on the population. Or, another possibility is they want to use them as lab rats to make them selves resistant to the radiation. The pale girl was getting some sort of blood transfusion after Clarke attacked her, could they be pumping space blood into them?

They're definitely up to something though, otherwise they could have just let Clarke go. They obviously have some system for getting in and out without everyone dying, why not just suit a guy up to open the door and let Clarke out?

Going by the reactions to the food, the current bakers are ok. :pac:
But yeah I'd say it's a possibility. And who better to breed with than a very attractive CW cast.
I think the president said they want to examine their blood to see about their ability to survive but that's probably just cover. Think goggle guy would have no problem with pale girl wanting to breed.

And yeah I believed that was a mutant and not a reaper since I believe reapers just looked like grounders with a different diet. And think it's the first time we've seen anyone that matches the skull found in the first ep.

Hmm, looks like more research is needed by me on Clark.

Think it was about episode four or five of season 1 before I realised that Clarke was Janae Timmins from Neighbours even though I had been saying to myself that she looked very familiar for the first few episodes.

There's actually a lot of former soap stars in the cast. Bellamy was in Home and Away and Neighbours, Anya was also in Neighbours, and Lincoln was in Dream Team and Hollyoaks.

    100-monster.jpg?w=300&h=210

    Marie Avgeropoulos (Octavia) on the 'mutant' says;
He was merely a taste of what’s to come. “Something you’re going to see this season is a lot of different changes of creatures and environment,” she explains.

And regarding the cliffhanger at the end with the mysterious baby cry Jaha heard aboard the Ark, it will be explained in Episode 2. It’ll also propel the former Chancellor into the next phase of his journey, which gets even more mind-blogging.

Ugh, I thought they'd killed Jaha off last season and was quite happy about it.

Aw, you know I'm only playing with you. :p

As for Jaha, yeah I dunno what the plan is there. The fact his name is still in the opening credits means he'll probably be here a while yet

As long as there are no gay cast members in the show, I think Jaha is here to stay......

Maybe thats why he has been banished to space.

    Well now....

I knew it wasn't a breeding program they were running up in Mt. Weather!

I kind of thought they had just nicked a load of blood from everyone when they were in "quarantine" though, I was not expecting that last scene

I hope Clarke gets out next week and doesn't bother going back for those morons who were hassling her about being a threat to them. How short your memory is, Jasper!

Good God, I do not care about Jaha. Jaha in space, Jaha in the desert, none of it! I wonder if they signed Washington up to play Jaha and then he wasn't into moving to Canada to shoot but they were stuck with him so have had to do all this nonsense with him? It just seems slightly out of sync with everything else that's going on.

I know it's only 2 episodes in but it looks like they're zipping along at the same pace as last year. Finn, Bellamy and co are back out on their own already, the Mt. Weather secret has been revealed, the promo for next week looks like Clarke is outside again already. Good stuff :D

Great episode. Love the pacing of the season so far. Really hope this show keeps going for another couple of years. One of the most promising new shows in years...

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 23,931 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

I wonder if those people that the Reapers had in their tunnels last season are whats left of the people they're draining at Mt. Weather?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,983 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

that's some super blood they have! the burns on that guy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,875 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I'm guessing the Reapers are the results of failed experiments by those in Mt. Weather are seeing some of the stuff they are up to in there.

Looked to me like they were diluting the grounders blood so that the people in mt weather could become immune to the radiation or at least be cured by it if exposed.

That episode was great, I found the show so so for the first series , but liking it more with the wider range of characters and settings. Jaha appears to have landed in New York so in the realms of possibility that he can make his way to the others. Will be interesting to see what plans Mt Weather have for everyone , Logically they should just work with the new arrivals as they are culturally the same But I assume its not that simple

Yeah looked like New york as well to me and the the rest are in Washington so i dunno maybe Jaha might find more survivors there.

    Liking the new Intro

What a surprise that this perfect safe haven isn't what it appears.

Didn't watch next week's preview, but I like the thought of Clarke saving the grounders.

And the president lying to her and not telling her about her people being there means they do have plans for the 48.

Who was the guy that came in that they said was in the hospital all that time? Don't remember him from season 1, but I assume it was the son of the guy with Clarke's mum.

And good job Jaha was hallucinating since that landing in the airlock after the space walk wouldn't have been good for the baby.

Haven't seen opening credits on a network show in a long time. :) Looks like there's a number of new places we'll be getting to see. First 4 locations are where each of the Sky People are at. Looks like a town in there as well

The guy that came in was Miller. He didn't have a beard last year (which I'm suspicious of) and was one of Bellamy's second in command types. He was guarding Lincoln the time Octavia helped him escape and was round and about a fair bit towards the end of the season.

Apparently some of the shots in the opening titles will change from week to week.

Really enjoying the start to the season. I presume Jaha's days are numbered but I do think that the main cast now are nearly bullet-proof. I don't think it will be like the first season where they killed a few of the named characters. Loved Raven's statement " In zero gravity I didn't need my legs, down here I do"- so scifi!

I doubt it Jaha will more than likely find another group of survivors in New York.

Yeah, if they were going to get rid of him they would have just left him to die in space last season. It actually made sense for him to die last season and it was a noble sacrifice and all that jazz. Bringing him back ruined a lot of what they did with him last year.

Aha! So I was right about the Reapers taking all the left over bodies from Mt Weather. Still not sure what the arrangement is there though? I guess they give Mt. Weather the live ones and they get the nearly dead ones for eating? Why not just eat the ones they catch themselves though?

Not a lot really happened this episode though. I mean we're still pretty much where we were last week other than Clarke and Anya getting away. Oh, and Finn has gone to the dark side and become vaguely interesting as a character :)

EDIT: I just realised the Mt. Weather guys are controlling the Reapers somehow. There was the weird whistle thing that stopped them eating Clarke and then were they being injected with something at the end too? It's probably not by choice they're collecting Grounders and only feeding on the scraps. I wonder if they're the result of some sort of testing the Mt. Weather guys did on original Grounders and now they're all messed up but easily controlled?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Easily one of the shows I look forward to the most at the moment. Love how it's all unfolding...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

It has become so much more interesting since they got rid of the Arc side to it. Everyone on Earth and the different factions is a great idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

With Clarke finding the grounders being drained and the recap at the beginning of the episode where the president said they seem to metabolise the radiation quicker than the grounders, it implies they're looking to harvest Clarke's group as well.

Wonder if everyone knows where the blood comes from like does Jasper's woman know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,182 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

yeah enjoyable episode. Liked the homage to the fugitive with them jumping off the dam. I also liked that Anya didn't forgive Clarke even after she saved her life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    Anya saved Clarke then.

But yeah I was thinking the Fugitive as well and that wasn't long after the very Empire Strikes Back type "I'm not afraid" "You will be"
