Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've only put maybe 2 or 3 hours in yet but it's actually a lot of fun and genuinely funny too imo. Surprised as it's not really a game that appealed much to me at all.

exactly what I am thinking after about 2hrs gameplay.

What surprised me was I loaded up Destiny after playing Sunset Overdrive and I was bored in 5 minutes of doing the usual daily missions yet again.

The most refreshing thing I've found about this game after playing Destiny for the last month is the instant resume from where you left off! If I only have an hour to play at least I know I'll have the full hour and not spending a lot of it in pissy menus waiting to connect :pac:

About 10 hours in now, not too far in the story as have been dicking around doing a lot of side quests and stuff. Very much enjoying the game still!

Anyone up for some chaos squad this week?

Yeah, my bank balance is not happy about the early positive reviews for COD.

Love the game. Old School Tony Hawk + Dreamcast vibe + Dead Rising + Tons of Fun.

    yup,

I'm actually refraining from asking about different things or quoting some of the dialog as it'd be a shame for people to not experience it properly.

I would be up for this too regardless of how COD turns out!

Was playing Titanfall there, was wall running along on one of the maps and jumped down to street level, got myself killed because the bounce I was expecting from the car I landed on never came. Damn this game :o

The mission where you have to
    assemble band members
makes fully leveling up weapons a doddle, maxed out 9 weapons in about half an hour and makes getting the 5k/15k OD kills achievements simple too.

Is that a campaign mission? I've only gotten to the fargarthians yet.

    Hah,
    The Siege of Wondertown Land
    was pretty epic :D

I must say the campaign missions are very enjoyable in this, each one is different from the last and they constantly introduce stuff to prevent the gameplay feeling repetitive. Some of the side missions are standard collect random crap fetch quests but the main missions are great. Pretty impressed with the game overall.

Im actually surprised at how easy it is to die vs say dead rising 3 where there was little if any risk of getting killed outside of a boss fight.

Yeah you really get punished if you don't keep moving.

Only major gripe I have with this is the sound track , would have been so much better had they licensed some music from better known acts, all the stuff in this sounds the same for the most part and thats coming from a punk fan

Hell it needs this gem from THPS 2, how cool could would it be to grind around to this !!!!!!!! :)

It looks like they borrowed the best parts of certain games even down to the dmc story like of a soda making people brainless zombies, usually this would turn me of a game, but its clever colourful package looks like fun.

Campaign yeah, you're not too far off it now if you've just done the siege!

I see you got the achievement for maxing out 20 weapons - fair play!

TBH it kind of bugged :pac:

I used the mission I said above to max out 10 weapons, once the achievement popped I paused the game and was looking through the menus - game crashed for the first time and booted me to home. Started up the game again, back at the same point but my weapons progress had been lost! Did the same 10 again, and the 20 weapons cheevo popped!

    Easy on the mission
getting the band back together, just get to the part with the drummer
and go to town on the infinite spawning OD

Seriously impressed with this. I've had it on my list to buy since it was first shown. Definitely has that Dreamcast vibe to it. It's like a tony hawks & dead rising crossover.

Can't put it down! The humour isn't bad either, it's not laugh out loud funny but I got a few laughs out of it. I love how the game is aware of itself (being a game). It's also cool how dying doesn't really affect you - breath of fresh air that.

It's there in the achievement list, I think you get a tonne of overdrive and money for it or something. There's one for melee killing 250 poppers and another for getting gold in 10 challenges too.

they're community challenges - they operate outside of achievements I think.
If you have smartglass, look at the game, then swipe over to see if theres any ongoing challenges.

another one on at the minute is the OD apocalypse - 1.6 billion or more OD killed in 30 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

I see it on smartglass, the 500 combo one apparently doesn't start for another 11 days

wow this game isn't without bugs, few times over the last few days i've had to quit to get the game to progress, got stuck in the back of a van during a side quest there, first time was with the reality TV mission had to reload to get the train to appear , theres been about 4 other mission that stalled on me like that.

Yeah I got stuck in that same van, I've had some issues with the missions but i never had to quit. They would always sort themselves out once I got myself killed

Shouldn't have started this last night, wrecked in work this morning. Game is excellent, can't wait to unlock additional traversal elements.

If you're like me, and still read things in spoiler tags, I'll preface this by saying it happens after you get to the third base.
Just did the first mission with the LARPers. I was cracking up laughing all the way through it, from the game of thrones nod, "HARDCORE!" or the bard who plays a song whilst you're battling the OD. It was just epic. - Oh and thats not to forget the epic fight against the OD dragon, when my character reached up and grabbed the style meter lightning bold to stab the dragon was class!

The further I get into this, the better it gets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,207 ✭✭✭maximoose

Yeah I loved that mission :pac:

I think the humor is great in it, not sure why a lot of reviewers seem to hate it. A lot of breaking the "4th wall" and taking the piss out itself and games in general, and love all the little easter eggs/pop culture references.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,126 ✭✭✭✭calex71

The respawns are great , even dying is funny in this.

I actually think the trailers they released beforehand did the game a bit of a disservice. They made the humor seem really grating and in your face, when its actually really clever. theres nearly a story to be told after every mission - Id love to be chatting more about it, but I'd hate to spoil it for anyone.

    2nd base spoiler ahead
I left a massive "HA!" out of me when I finally rescued scout master brylcreem and i opened the back of the rubbish lorry to find this super survivalist in the condition he was in - my wife got an awful fright as she was reading something on the laptop and I was playing with my headset on - and then all the awkward comments people were passing when I returned him to the base.
