Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jonathan Metz had his left arm stuck in his furnace boiler for about 12 hours when he asked himself "what would MacGyver do?"

That guy just took the easy option.

MacGyver would have built himself an operating theatre out of tin cans & some wire, built himself a new arm & attached it.

No, he would have used his good arm to reach for his mobile and called Chuck Norris.:pac:

So he didn't cut off his arm then.

And why didn't he use the hacksaw to cut through the boiler ?
It's not like there was petrol dripping into a headlight nearby.

He cut most of the way through, which saved his life from the spreading infection. it fell off when the firemen released it from the boiler

    made me think of this

What's to discuss? The guy took his own arm off. He's a moron! what else is there to say??
It's gems like this and "poo sex, should it be legalised?" that makes me realise why I never bother with After Hours.
    Thank you and good night.

Why is it that only the loonies take inspiration from television? I long for the day that hot wimminz take inspiration from watching "The Sopornos" and "Erotic Tomb Raider"

Just like that bomber who tried to smuggle a bomb on a plane in his shoe, now we all have to take our shoes off in the airport. Why could it not have been a woman who tried to smuggle on on in her bra and panties?

Selfish - the lot of 'em.

Ladies, to understand the human male, realise that most of us would cut off our own arms in less than 24 hours to escape death.

However were our "third leg"s trapped by that same boulder or in a furnace rest assured you would find us emaciated & dead still in situ.

Speak for yourself my friend, should I find myself in that precarious positions, I would just summon up mental pictures of girls with thongs slightly to one side and use the immense leveraging power of my member to shift the boulder, thus freeing myself unharmed.

Of course, you mere mortals would still be stuck.

The 31-year-old West Hartford man, who was released from the hospital Monday, met with reporters Tuesday for the first time since getting his arm stuck in his furnace for two days and nearly cutting it off.

Firefighters ripped apart the furnace with heavy tools, including a spreader normally used to take the door off a car. Once they did, the arm just gave way.
He was saved by firefighters. No where in the article did it say he saved his own life. Had he waited 2 days they would've found him.

But by then, the infection and gangrene could have spread. He could well have died as a result of shock, blood loss etc. Did he know the firemen would be along in two days? His friends became worried when he didn't show up for the softball game.

You've gotta hand it to him, please lets not all rush to cut him off.

    Yes it does:
    Article wrote:
Eventually, he began noticing signs of infection and the smell of rotting flesh, and he starting thinking he had to cut the arm off. Doctors said the partial self-amputation prevented the spread of the infection to the rest of his body and saved his life.

It's exactly for times like this that I make sure always to carry my mobile phone in my pocket.

I can't tell you how many furnaces/storm drains/vending machines/vacuum cleaners I've had my arm/leg/hand/penis stuck in and would have had to self-amputate if it wasn't for that trusty Nokia 3210.

....Now to go retrieve that garden shovel from the wood-chipper.
