Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where did you get that TV stand Johnny and how much was it? I've the same amp as you and when I setup I realised there is now no space for my XBox and the DVD player. So they're on the floor!

Also, mind if I ask how you are connecting all that up to the mains? Did you get a special extension leed for those appliances? I'm using two extension leads plugged into two sockets for eight appliances. And it's a mess of wires and cables.

The stand is a Serano 1050, I think it was bought in Curry's (that was a second hand buy too) and the stuff is all hooked up much like yours, it was a mangle of extension cables. It's all been relocated recently so I've made it much neater than the old. I'll have pics up as soon as I have it all properly installed (bodged:)).

Does that Harmony remote work with the PS3, the Xbox and Sky?

How do you find it? I've five remotes and the moment and they're always going missing

The Harmony works with everything except the PS3 and WII, it's made my life a lot easier to have it there. I have the bluettoth remote for the PS3, which is a bit of hassle but it's better than having 4/5 different remotes to press to change inputs etc...

I've recently upgraded my remote to a Harmony 785, so my 525 is going spare. I'll be putting it up on adverts in about a week or so... I'll be having a bit of a clear out of some of the old stuff to make way, and pay, for some new gear.

Cool, keep me posted about when you put the ad up.

I recently got a solid oak TV unit in Dunnes of all places to replace my crappy Argos one. It was reduced from €750 to €375 in the January sale. Anyway I wanted to hide all my AV gear so I fitted some doors - white lacquered glass from Myra Glass on Clanbrassil St (€48 for the pair). I'll be taking the back off tomorrow to let a bit of air in for ventilation. Also foolishly bought this thinking that the remote signals wouldn't pass through the glass - they did:mad:. So if anyone wants to buy it I'll be putting it up on adverts.ie soon (unless I get any offers here - PM me!)

Lads, I thought mine was GREAT until I saw some of the projectors and screens here :( lol

    Spec list...
Sony Bravia FULL 1080p HD 40" LCD
Sony "All in One" Surround Sound
    Sony Playstation 3 (60gb for PS2 games)
Sky + (Gonna wait for Sky HD to 'lose' the extra subscription)
And best of all......... not a cable in sight!

THE TV (Looks really small on the wall 'cos it's a big room!)

Loving the wire free set up, what have you got there at the front to keep the wires in (it doesn't look like you've put them through the wall).

I'm tempted to do the same permanent set up in mine, but I'd be a bit worried when I to go and move/remove any of the stuff that it'd leave behind a lot of mess.

 GUTTED :( that you noticed the cables are there lol

Just stuck them into the corners with A LOAD of painters mate, smoothed it down, let it set and painted over... It looks invisible in reality, but in photos you can see it, perhaps the shade of paint was from a different batch, or something that the eye can't see but a camera can.... I have the luxury of an attic in my apartment, and directly behind the Sky Box etc is a cupboard so i ran all the cables into that, up the wall, across the attic and back down inside the wall to the TV.

Cable wise in the wall i have installed:
    2 x HDMI (only 1 in use to PS3)
2 x Scart (only 1 in use to Sky Box)
1 x Coax (to Aerial for DTT to TV)
    2 x Coax (to Dish for Sky+)
1 x Speaker (for centre speaker when fireplace arrives)

    That's it then.
I'm tempted to do the same permanent set up in mine, but I'd be a bit worried when I to go and move/remove any of the stuff that it'd leave behind a lot of mess.

The painters mate will just peel off if you do decide to leave in the future, or leave the cables there for the next person, so they can just put there own speakers in!

I'm gonna steal your idea with the painters mate. from what I read it's just like masking tape. I wonder if it'll work with thick cable. I've got to hide my fronts which are bi-wired with 42 strand...

I've decided now that I'm hiding all my speaker wires. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble to lift the floorboards...this could get messy.

Hey Johnny, how did you get on with your wiring. Did you use the Painter Mate? I've got 42 strand also. The LCD will be going up on the wall. I'm going to put up a fake wall with a space in the centre for the LCD. Top and bottom will be open, sides will be closed (I think!). A mate did it this way and it looks great. Wall is painted one colour and the fake wall another. The fake wall will be about 18 smaller all round than the existing wall. Thinking about putting the speakers up also, they're on stands at the moment.

I've not seen anything like what you're doing but it sounds very impressive would like to see how that looks. I actually didn't go with the painters mate option, instead I've put all the wires under the floorboards. I wouldn't say it's an easy job but it is quite satisfying to see it completed:D. Here's a couple of pics to show the work in progress and the set up as I have it at the minute.

Threading the cable through this was easily the hardest job.

It's gotta get worse before it gets better.
    IMGP0908.jpg?t=1206966629

What's in the corner at the moment. Upgraditis dictates that there'll be a plasma in there shortly, and it'll probably be wall mounted.
    IMGP0917.jpg?t=1206966775

The new projector in action, rubbish pic, but that's the best I could manage. The screen's been moved lower since that to improve the viewing angle.

    Hi folks,
Just thought I'd stick a pic or two of my setup. I know its not really up to the standards of some the others on display, but it does me for the time being!
    DSC01322.jpg
    DSC01323.jpg

At the moment it consists of:
Sony 55" SXRD, Denon AVR-2802, Cambridge Audio Azur 640C and 540D, Toshiba HD-XA1, Pionneer DVL-909 and CLD-700, an old Philips VR-768, Xbox 360, PS3, and finally a Kef 2005 package.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

It's all worth it when you can sit back and enjoy a movie on a BIG screen is it a Panasonic AE1000 or 2000 projector. I have a 1000 what a great machine feeding it with a Panasonic Bluray player now and it's just gotten better

It's a 2000 which blew my entertainment budget for ohh, six months ;)
Still, I won't be going out ever again now anyway.

    Wow, very nice!
what size screen do ya have there?
Got my projector from ebay (american power seller) cause it was so expensive everywhere else. T'was 1700 in the end. Some shops in Ireland are looking for 2600 and upwards! Might get a ps3 for it as it seems to be the most upgradable bluray player...

Its 106" tab tensioned electric so it goes in to the ceiling, I know what you mean about the prices here they are crazy and the choice is not great. if you scroll up the thread I have some more pics posted of the screen both up and down and the proj covered and uncovered. There is a large picture of a lighthouse that covers the proj when not in use. Everything is automated so press the button on the remote, the screen comes down, the pictures comes down, proj, bluray and amp turn on. So all that’s left to do is sit back and enjoy.

    Thanks smokingman,
I have to admit I prefer the thicker border that you built, it really enhances the screen. You have a really nice projector too, I hope to upgrade to that one day.
The rope light was just shop bought €24 for 8ft.
The projector I have is a Panasonic PTAX 100e bought last summer on adverts.ie for €780, its hooked up to PS3, Wii, internet & Yamaha RX V361 surround Sound.
I have the projector, rope light and cooling fan on a socket remote which is handy.
Its not a great picture but the only one I have.

    Sweet, sweet, sweet.

There's something nice about modern tech in a rough setting like that (I say that with respect - not derogatorily towards the bare decor).
