Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

dubtom: It was at the back of mount pleasant somewhere, I'm not sure exactly. My friend knows the area, I was walking with him. I'll ask him again when I see him, and try to post back.

    Guys,

Do any of you own classics. If you do then read on. This Sunday 7th May I am organising a gettogether. The idea is to get together at the Spawell Car park on the Tallaght Bypass at 11.45 in the morning. We will then go for a spin out to Blessington at noon and stop off for a beverage in Ballymore Eustace, returning to the Spawell for approx 14:00. There are already a number of people interested in coming along and I plan to make this a regular excursion every second Sunday from different starting points. The next run will be on 28th May starting from the Playwright on Newtownpark Avenue Blackrock at noon.

The idea is to get people out driving their classics. Nothing fancy, just an opportunity to meet like minded people and get out and drive the cars.

I'll post more details of later runs if you guys are interested. As I said above, this is for everyone who appreciates or drives classic cars. Just come along for the craic and take some time out to enjoy your classic and chat to others of a similar breed!!

    Hope to see you there,

    Paul.

email me at phelanpa@eircom.net if you need further details.

bit vague but I spotted a wine coloured 74 something in Chapelisod this morning (thursday) all the way down the hill until it turned right at the bridge, was about 10 cars behind it.

    Wine coloured
74 d XXX black plate at rear
    looked europian
    looked ford (maybe) cortina
    wide wheels
chrome bumper (not straight, curved up to meet the lights at the ends)

Sorry for being so vague, any guesses, someone here?

Its a Ford Popular - very 'popular' with the customising fraternity - lots of ones with big V8s and flame paintwork...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Popular

Sometimes referred to the 'sit up and beg' in car ads.

Had an immaculate light blue BMW 2002 on ZV plates behind me on the Navan road heading into Blanch yesterday.

There's also a navy BMW 2002 around Navan regularly.

You have an [ IMG] at the front of each URL - you also need a [ /IMG] at the end

    So: [ IMG]http://whatever/lookit.jpg[ /IMG]

(take out the spaces there if you are cutting and pasting that ;)

Hi Frank, the car is normally around Phibsbor/Drumcondra area. Thanks MM, she's going in for a complete refurb in two weeks time, so the streets of Dublin will see a lot of her over the summer!
Meanwhile, here's two more old girls in daily use around the Glasnevin area:

yes, a girl, didn't look older than 25.No reg plates on the car and she seemed to be loving the attention. Stunning car.

Do you mind me asking who is doing the work on the Benz ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭custom900

I think that's for me, MM?
I found a russian guy who specialises in mercedes, and his father is a bit of a genius with 108/111's and the like. Saw a couple of jobs he did and was impressed, so I'm trusting him with my baby. He's currently doing a job on the air suspension on my friend's coupe, shown here:

Did you get the details? I think he's referring to Malex motors, they're quite good but before you decide read my last posting on http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054895110&highlight=malex

You asked me before to give you details of my mechanic, I didn't forget! However he's just some retired Merc enthusiast who's also a mechanic. I asked him could I refer him on and he asked me not to unfortunately - sorry about that.

I had a great time with the neighbours popular back in the 60's. I was facinated by the semaphore indicators and used to try and get them working when the car was parked - sure it was only a matter of getting a screwdriver and forcing them out.:o

He was so frustrated he bought a brand new popular - that one had the 'modern' indicators.
