Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Smiles for Santa Strike Force

Right, some of you might have noticed my eye bending, seizure inducing signatures over the past week or so. I didn't realise people were having such a bad reaction. :o

Anyway, I thought I'd do something good rather than evil with my sig for a while. So all in the name of charity (and to a lesser extent giving myself that smug satisfaction that accompanies doing good deeds :D), I'm going to run a charity challenge thingy in my sig.

    Smiles for Santa Strike Force:

It's simple enough. I stick a picture of a famous smile in my sig.

If you think you know whose face it belongs to, send me a PM.

If you're right, I'll donate €1 to the Santa Strike Force fund.

Then I'll stick up another celebrity grin and so on.

I'm a bit of a boards junkie so a new one will usually go up very soon after someone PMs me the right answer.

If a smile stays up for a week without being guessed, I'll put €1 towards the fund anyway and then stick up another one.

Honourable mentions also to Hagar, Taibhse, Quackles, mcauley, Maddison, Saibh, Kintaro Hattori, daisy123 and Dudess but I'm afraid it's still only €1. Sorry.

A good few people guessed Scarlett Johansson btw. I had a feeling that would happen. :)

    The quiz is too hard.

Maybe if you posted photos showing their faces it would be easier to guess whose smile it was.

Congratulations to Earthhorse who correctly guessed this one:
    picture.php?albumid=276&pictureid=1407
According to Earthhorse the clues had him completely stumped: "Sounds ominous. He's Irish. Taken from a picture of him in black and white."

So he'd given up on the challenge and decided to go to bed. But then as he completed his daily ritual of kissing his posters goodnight, whose famous lips should he happen across but the Duffer, Damien Duff!*

    *dramatisation. may not have happened.

Some of you may be interested in the backstory to this.

Whilst browsing the forums last night javaboy PMed me, in a heap - in a heap - confessing that the latest smile in his contest was the toughest yet and even had Scotland Yard's finest stumped. "That's torn it," he said. "There'll be no more smiles this Christmas. Dev'll probably give me a site ban for this."

That wouldn't have surprised me, but in the spirit of the season I sent a kind note back to jb, assuring him that though I didn't check his profile every 5 seconds I would do my best. This morning, I logged on, clicked his profile, PMed him the ole double D, helped an old lady cross the road, took a bullet for Obama and whammo, Earthhorse saves Christmas.

Now who do I make this cheque out to?
