Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heard a doyen of the Irish track cycling community was asking who Cram was - obviously an impressive start to training this year;)
Hmmm, probably just surprised I could do anything after my dismal display in Bs last year.

I have it on good authority that steel red Fuji's are the best bikes you can buy ;) (Rosa is, rather exotically in no way at all, chromoly).
Nothing wrong with Cromo, one of my favourite bikes was cromo.

Alas no, but will have to see this new bike in the flesh soon. Are you coming out for the league this year?

It's like the training, once you get over how close you are to the other person and don't let the pain after the first session put you off, you'll start to enjoy it.

After cross, the pain on the track is minimal. In my experience people get closer to you in cross than they do on the track and there's no hills or running.

Running behind the bushes and rolling around in the muck, your all filthy animals in cross :pac:

    cram sounds jealous.

edit - actually, the only reason I race cross is so I have a legitimate reason to play in mud.

Me too, only downside is having to clean everything afterwards. Made that mistake going to work this morning and now have lovely muddy shoes and clothes in my locker. It was fun at the time.

My track bike gets cleaned about once a season.

Will the track training be called off if the weather is bad? What constitutes bad weather? What time should I be there for? How do they get the figs in the fig roll?

Yes, torrential rain will do it, or snow. Check the Sundrive velodrome twitter feed or Sundrive track club one.

Senior training usually starts at 10am, so ready to roll by then after signing on.

Can't help you with the fig roll question.

If it's icy or frosty yes, wet no, unless it's torrential. I was at almost all regular training sessions last year and only 2 were called off with rain. Could be different with a very inexperienced group though.

I'd advise get there for 10, sign on is open from then, I do. I hate rushing. It gives me time to take brake off bike/get ready etc. On track at half, sometimes before.

Magic soft biscuit fairies put the figs in the fig rolls, god, I thought everyone knew that  :p

Same. It goes against my natural cycling instincts! I think that's why I was so ****ed.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,855 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeeee

Yep, I'll be there as ever. It's gonna be a dry, sunny, windless day...in my imagination!

I've gone to the track cycling a number of times over the last few weekends in Sundrive and I reckon I will give the league a go. I have a track bike frame, it's a bit heavy but regardless of this I'm thinking of investing in a track wheelset to throw on the bike. I was thinking of going for something reasonably cheap.

I was thinking of Miche XPress:

    Has anyone got any advice/recommendations?
