Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This looks good. Is it on any of the Netflix?

Found it on the Canadian one.

Hmmmm. I was expecting better lads. I'll give it another few episodes though

It definitely gets better, though I liked the early episodes too.

The set-up was predictable, but the way they carried it out was epic.

I still really like the show but I don't feel I'm getting the same buzz off it as I did last season. That's not saying I want to see it gone, far from it. I guess though I was rooting for it last year hoping it'd get a renewal. It's pretty safe now. Gina is starting to become a little annoying though but she's still funny!

For me the show is like that blanket you have for when it's cold or when you know you shouldn't ha r that slice of cake but do anyways. The show is comfort TV, easy to watch fun that will keep you entertained for 22 minutes and leave you with a smile in your face. It's not the funniest show or the smartest or most original but it is fun and sometimes that's all you need.

I feel the exact same way. Or at least I think I do.

Maybe the show just hasn't reached the heights of the later part of last season. I must reach the birthday party episode as I thought that was the funniest episode of TV I'd seen in a long time.

Captain Holt is reaching Ron Swanson level's of awesome. His "Is everything ok?" speech was brilliant.

First series is on Canadian Netflix. Might be on 4oD because it was on e4/c4 in UK, not 100% sure about that though.

It's on somewhere, my brother is watching it and he wouldn't be one for having the technical aptitude for ahem getting tv shows the way alot of us here would ahem.

I'm really enjoying the series, it's the perfect easy to watch 22 minutes that I actually do miss when it skips a week. Laughs may not be as consistent or hearty as last year but when it works it really does so and when it doesn't its never less than fun.

Can we all just agree to give Andre Braugher all the Emmy's now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,462 ✭✭✭✭WoollyRedHat

Thought the most recent episode was the weakest so far.

They're over-emphasizing the quirks of certain characters, i.e Santiago and need to lay off that before they become parodies of themselves. Santiago and even dare I say it The Captain were a bit too over the top in "Jake and Sofia", as was Boyle to a lesser extent.

    Hopefully just a small blip.

Agreed, his level of seriousness is just comedic in comparison to actual comedians in the show is great. Really made me laugh!

The "No one will ever believe you" line about the hula hooping is my favorite line from any TV show in a very long time.

Also the "Yes my core - it's engaged." bit from this week.

"Imagine a letter had unprotected sex with a phone". This is quickly gaining on Parks and Rec as the best comedy on TV. Ed Helms was a lot of fun this week.

Yeah P&R came to mind as I watched this episode. It could yet be a worthy replacement when Leslie & Co. disappear into the trees next year. I haven't been too impressed this season so far but the curent episode nailed it. Very much hoping for more of the same now!

Didn't think this week's episode was great to be honest but I must say, I love it when they do flashbacks to Holt's past. The afro, tache and cheesy suit are brilliant.

Thought it was a very weak episode too. Sandiago smokes?? "Frugal" Gina, who bought jakes' nana's apartment, was a shopaholic???

Not for a while I'd say, Comcast-NBC-GE-Universal (or whatever the hell that empire is called these days) signed a big deal with Hulu earlier in the year.

When will season 2 be on E4?
Best guess would be Jan 2015 based on their usual scheduling and how they aired series 1

Season 2 is done on E4, so ... cliffhanger!
Who is Holt's replacement in Season 3?

I'm half way through season 1 and finding it so hard to get into this show. I want to kill Gina. Does it get better? Or should I just give it up seeing as I'm still not really enjoying it this far in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Ludo

Give up...if you don't like it by now you won't ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,032 ✭✭✭✭bnt

I suppose it depends on whether you appreciate dialogue like this. Police Chief Wuntch is showing Capt. Holt around her new office: (from memory)
So, how do you like my new office? 20th floor!
Very nice. I never expected to see you up this high without a broom under you.

The show has throwaway lines like that all over the place, and no laugh track to flag them for you, so ... heads up!

Yeah, my favourite comedies are Community, Silicon Valley, Veep, Parks and Rec and similar so I do appreciate good dialogue. But maybe it's just the fact that I'm pretty ambivalent towards most of the characters that is the problem. Ah well, it's a shame. I did want to like it as I'm a fan of Andy Samberg and Terry Crews.

Yep was brilliant. Won't give any spoilers but picks up right where season 2 left off and goes from there.

Holt/Gina probably the funniest pairing in their B-plot; the other B-plot with Terry/Diaz was a bit pointless.

Gina for me gets the main laughs, usually repeat views the captain gets them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,712 ✭✭✭squonk

Fairly solid, if somewhat unremarkable opener. Picked up where it left off so can't say fairer than that. I'd forgotten how seriously cute Amy is.

some amazing parts in season 3.

The matchbook code... "I'll get my pencil case", "Room 305", "Oh good, Santiago solved it".

    HOLT IS AMAZING.
