Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No as in someone agreeing to a transaction then sending a pm saying they havent the funds and then buying something from another thread.
Sorry shoulda been more clear with it, I agree though, that should be allowed too. What I mean is, say one of your terms of sale is over 18s only and Paddy Dolally is 15, but says he's 18 and you only realise this when you see him. It seems to me the feedback thread doesn't allow this.

Lefty, your hitting the nail on the head here, my issue is my AEG went sale agreen, then as soon as it went to pms my time was wasted, he asked for the goods first and then payment (learnt my lesson there before with a certain boards member - see feedback section if your curious) and then when i asked for a parent to discuss consent on the phone he backed out with a pathetic excuse, i want to post this in the buyer reviews, or ill start to PM ops who he is offering asking on stuff warning them in advance

Lads, this isn't the place for a discussion on feedback.

    Let me sort something out.

Ok there's now a thread where you can give your opinions on feedback.

No more discussion here please. :)

That's something that you need to agree between yourself and the buyer.

There are some trading guidelines used on adverts.ie that are also relevant here.

I'd strongly recommend using registered post for any transactions.

    Hey Mod's,

Not sure if this belongs here in adverts as I am not the one selling, but I thought someone in the Airsoft community might benefit from this - at the following link there are 10 CLANSMAN PRC 349 RADIO's for sale by auction, the current bid is £150 for all 10!
    <snip>

Let me know if this can go in adverts, or should I post in another thread?
    Cheers

Hi, it's not really suitable for this forum.

I'm also not sure if they're legal to use here (mil band etc..), have asked the other mods for input. If they are we'll find somewhere suitable to post.

Edit: According to comreg, the frequency range they use is restricted to government use (aka mil / emergency services etc.) so that'd be a no.

More info here (warning, large pdf - 6MB)

Hey Steve a quick one for you, I am selling an airsoft sniper rifle and have discovered the person who wants to buy it is 16. Are there any rules I should know about, should I only sell to over 18's?

There are no legalities that I'm aware of (I'm no expert though), nor are there any forum rules that say you can't.

Use best judgement I suppose, It's a private sale between individuals so it's down to an individual's sense of responsibility. We can't police stuff like that.

My personal opinion (not speaking as a mod) is if I was in that situation then I'd ask to speak to the parents and make sure they were aware of what their child was buying. :)

Might not be my place to say so, but i'm pretty sure it's something like 14 and over can use em with supervision, 18 over can use em, anything younger than 14 can't at all.

    Quick question,

There's a boardsie here, asking for recommendations for a first primary and secondary weapon..

Would it be against the rules to point the user towards my add?

    Seems to fit the bill..

    Cheers,

    P.

That'd be fine as long as it's relevant (bit busy and haven't fully read the thread or your ad).

    There are two question there.

    1. It's against the rules to advertise any item that is above 1 joule.
    2. It's against the law to own any item above 1 Joule without a firearms license.

So, yes, it would be against the charter.

No, that would constitute using your account to evade a ban and under site policy could land you with a siteban.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

On the subject of closing threads, we won't be doing this by request any more. The reason is that if the buyer has any post-deal issue that they need to discuss with the seller then they should do so in the thread where they bought. This also benefits other users when they are searching for previous deals by someone.

In future, either report your ad or pm a mod and we'll edit [SOLD] into the title.

Hey guys, wondering if posting a thread for a certain type of gun is ok (eg looking for a sniper rifle with this budget), but just to see whats available, in other words no definite guarantee that a purchase will come out of the offers?

Then it would be a gauging of intrest thread?
    Taken from the charter.
9.No interest tests / price checks - you are either selling the item or not. These threads have been shown to cause problems in the past and will be immediately locked and binned.
    Hope this helps.

Is it allowed to link to your advert on boards from another site such as facebook or twitter so long as all dealing occurs within your boards thread?

if we see a user offering a price for an item, can we post a reply out-bidding the offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,561 ✭✭✭andy_g

For example if the asking is a 100 then someone offered 80 you can still offer the asking price on the item as its not bidding.

Or if you offer asking of 100 and someone else said. I'll give you 120 for it then its bidding. Thats when we ask you to report the post :)

Just wondering one thing, what would I do if I buy something here and the object condition has been lied about even though pictures have been shown of an item, just not the actual item that person will be sending.

    e.g.

    Me:"looking for ACOG sight"

Seller:"Have one here mate, 50 euro, nothing wrong with it, in perfect condition"

    Me:"Deal"

When I receive it I see that the screen has been scratched and chipped and or cracked badly and the reticle is ultra dim and barely visible, overall its in poor condition and un-skirmishable

did you contact the seller? how did you pay for the item? if you payed through paypal you can open a dispute with them and try and recover your money that way. could you post a link to the thread in question?

Hello ,I'm looking to buy an auto pistol ,preferably an 18c or similar glock.
Any online retailers seem to be out of stock ,is it ok to start a Wanted thread directed at retailers who could pm me ?
I'd buy secondhand also from a member of the forum.

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

    Hi yoshytoshy.

No, this forum is for non-commercial sales only.

Best bet is to contact one one the retailers in the Airsoft Retailers forum.

Hi, I was wondering what is the consequences of someone posting up an Item, Aeg, airsoft sniper etc for sale. They get offered asking, offer is accepted, on to PM's. In PM's the Buyer tries to arrange a meeting to pick up the Item, The seller starts with the excuses why they can't meet. The buyer offers to drive to the sellers front door. The seller is all of a sudden away till next week. The Week passes no word from the seller. The buyer sends several messages with no reply even though the seller is online and still posting on other threads. Finally 8 days after offer was accepted the seller asks when can the buyer meet. Buyer says next day name time and place. No reply from seller. Several messages more from buyer and Seller now replies that he is sorry but he now is going to keep the Item and If the buyer really wants one the local shop sells the Item.

It appears to me that the Seller never had any intention of selling the Item and wasted a week of the buyers time, not to mention damaging the credability of this fourm as a place to buy, sell and trade airsoft items. What are the conquences for this fake seller?? Should he be made honour the deal he made? Banned from the fourm?? What are the rules reguarding a matter like this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

The consequences are decided by the mods - there are no set rules as to what we do as each case is different and all facts have to be considered.

Having said that, this forum is based on the honesty of the users and anyone that is found to have wilfully acted in a dishonest manner will no longer be allowed to use it.

If you have a specific case in mind then please feel free to report a post from the thread or pm any of the mods and we'll take a look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 621 ✭✭✭Sleepershark

Thanks for the reply. I have already PM'd Thermo with the details.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

There's no general answer to this - it depends what point in the process you were at and how much interest was being shown in the item.

    e.g.
    was a sale agreed?
were people making offers at or near asking price?

This would be treated on a case-by case basis.

    Hi lads,
just a quick question on holding goods, if you are offered what you are asking & PM sent & i give the guy my contact details for him to ring me but never get any word from him in over 6 days, when is it OK to put the item back on the market, i just want to get me facts right before i upset anybody, cheers lads
