    Howdy folks!

How ya'll doin - haven't been around of late as I was Stateside on the holiers and for work.

Anyway, question - do any of ye know anything or know anyone who might know anything about the neuromuscular therapy course at NTC? http://www.ntc.ie/nmtsm.php

It's the intro to NMT, they also have an advanced diploma.

Essentially I am tentatively considering a possible new direction in my career, or at least a move into another totally different area of work and interest in addition to my full time current career.

I am really interested in anatomy and physiology and in helping people, especially those in pain. This seems like a pretty exciting course and I really want to hear from those in the know or who just want to give their two cents worth on this course or this area in general...?

    Thanks all

I haven't done it, but a friend of mine has and while he loved the work itself, he found it incredibly difficult to get any steady income from it and he generally only does NMT with friends and family now. At one point he was the NMT for a fairly big rugby club, but it was a lot of work for little return.

Sports NMT is a fairly specialised field, I don't know if there are many openings in Ireland for it?

Yeah I'm not sure. By the looks of it it seems like you need to build up a really good reputation pretty quickly to get clients and make any sort of money. Depends a lot on your skill and aptitude and then word of mouth spreads I guess that you are good....why did you friend find it so hard - the work just wasn't there for him?

I suppose it is something I could consider studying and doing part time, see where it could take me...

    Hi,

Actually came accross a neuromuscular therapist last night when I was at accupuncture. Based in Carlisle gym in Kimmage / Terenure. His name is Kevin Holbrook. I have a card with his number on it (no web address), so pm me if you want his details - could be worth ringing him and have a chat? I've never come accross one before but looks interesting...
