This may be of interest to some people, but I have just successfully used an MBNA Visa Electron gift card to book flights on ryanair.com.

@ c4cat. Ive flown Ryanair dozens of times. Ive been delayed sometimes, same as with other airlines, but never stranded and told F.U. I get the impression you have? This thread is four pages long, rather than trawl back to check your posts, what has been your worst experience with them?

You can trawl back my posts

    Correct.

I am an existing MBNA account holder, I rang them and requested a gift card in my name, they issued a card which had no name printed on it (which left me a bit worried as I wasn't sure it would pass online verification without a name/address paired to the card, but I used my own name/address from my existing account and it worked)

Worth checking with MBNA re. the name/address thing if you do order a card.

I'd say it is probably worth getting a gift card if you are booking for a number of people. @ 15 people that is a saving of 150 euro.

I've read all your posts. In summary:

I've gathered that you've been on two flights on which there were puke-stained seats, which made people feel ill, and you appeared to have been stranded at an airport after Ryanair cancelled a flight, with no money, and somebody crapped in your hand, although I may have that wrong, since you haven't clearly explained what happened and I've had to piece it together from various posts.

You've posted references to back up your points which actually contradicted them, and then ignored this when it was pointed out to you.

You also seem to have had some problems with Ryanair customer service, although you haven't given any details of these.

And you have vast experience flying with many non-budget arilines, since you're able to state with conviction that the problems you've had with Ryanair wouldn't have happened with any of these.

    Have I missed anything?

It doesn't have to be used all at the one time. You can reuse the card until you run out of credit on it, it is a credit card with pre-loaded credit and a more limited timeframe within which to use it.

    I have until March 09.

On checking my Eircom phone bill this month I see 2 calls to a premium rate number 1570224499 at a cost of just over €7 per call total cost €14.48 for two phone call to guess who. RYANAIR CUSTOMER SERVICE
My wife had made the calls not knowing the cost.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭penexpers

Not Ryanair's fault that she didn't know the cost.

Lol - your fight is with the missus not Ryanair. Surely everyone knows that numbers begining with 15xx are premium numbers?

The usual response from board members I see, get off the high horses.

The OP is dead right, it is a rip off. OK, his wife should have made herself aware of the costs beforehand but even if she did know the costs, she still might have needed to call them for whatever reason. And for this priviliege of being able to talk to a representative of the company you have just purchased from, you are charged often more than what the original price of the flight was. Ridiculous. It is for these reasons that I don't fly with them anymore.

I am sure he is aware of that. Doesn't mean it is not a rip off. The least I expect when doing business with a company is to be able to speak to a representative at no extra charge.

    Silly old me:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What's the odds of getting through to Ryanair through a normal 01 number instead?

Every last detail about how Ryanair operates it's flights from a passengers point of view is on it's website. There is no reason to need to call the 1570 number, the only number needed is the 0818 number to book extra bags or change a reservation if needed.

The why does the number exist?

in case people don't know how to use the website or in case people are using it incorrectly. What did she ring it for btw?

Voucher and the only way to use a voucher is to ring RYANYAIR CUSTOMER SERCVICE. Seems to be lots of ryanair lovers here, good for you go fly with them. I am just trying to make people aware of what it costs to ring someone in ryanair customer support. Happy flying

yes you are supposed to call the local reservation centre.

    http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=pnr&quest=redeemgiftvouchers
Vouchers can only be redeemed by calling your local call centre (click here for local call centre telephone numbers).
