I've played with the MGFX and no matter what I do, I really can't get a pleasing tone.

The tele is the complete opposite of my style.

The Maverick is nice but at that price, it makes more sense to get an Ibanez from Japan.

Sorry for being such a pain but I want to get the best stuff for my money.

yeah i understand... i used to own a maverick and it is sweet.. i only got rid of it because of the floyd rose.. not many places in ireland sell them.. i would love another one but .. i've only really 1 in perfect pitch.. try one out if you can find one.. the neck is lovely on them.. i've never played the prestige range of ibanez but i'd imagine it's the same kind of neck.. great for shreddin.. (i hate that ****in word)

    Me too.

TBH, I've enough guitars with FR's on them. Three at the moment but I'm thinking about selling one.

So tell me, the amp isn't that important...

so a peavey bandit II for €350

    a boss GT-6 for €466

    and a H-250 for €500

That's abotu €1150. Yay or nay? The more I read about the GT-6, the more I want one...

The GT-6 looks excellent, and the Peavy is pretty good, but I really think you should run THIS BABY! through 'em.

I'd love to but that's €1600+ and I am not at that level.

I didn't know there was a pre-required exam to determine what level of skill you're at before you're allowed to buy a guitar.
I was a complete fumbling moron when I bought my BC Rich Virgin.

A beginner playing through a Squire start and a fender 10W = fine

A beginner playing though an ESP Custom and a Mark IV = something wrong

    I've continued that.

You're not a begginer though. And you don't exactly have a Mark IV either. The idea is that if you buy that guitar now, even if you're only running it through a microcube for the time being, it will be with you the rest of your life.

i haven't tried a GT 6 but i used to have a GT 3...and they are excellent!! so the GT 6 must be amazing!

The musical community of boards should get together for a jam or somethin!

Yes, it would be one glorious, nay, monolithic disaster! :D

Yeah, we could play a hitherto unknown fusion of emo/metal/punk/jazz that would redefine music itself. Redefine it as 'b*llocks', that is.

    sounds deadly:D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ah, it just would just end up with people comparing the number of strings they had.

And Doctor J and Karl Hungus would win... I'd be Third though :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,089 ✭✭✭D!ve^Bomb!

i'll bring a spare set... that means i would win wouldn't it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Double-neck guitar time I think... Can't be beaten by these peons!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,089 ✭✭✭D!ve^Bomb!

    i'll bring two sets so:D

    *edit* make that three

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Double neck eh? One neck 8, the other 16???

    A double neck leviathan...

It's just crazy enough to work!

    24 strings on one guitar....

    Interesting if nothing else...

Hmm, getting pretty close to getting my new rig. Should have about €550 by the end of this week and still have a full decent computer to sell. I've fairly settled on the idea of a me-50. Dunno about what amp but I'm seriously thinking about this guitar:

    http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_artikel-159565.html

Prestige neck on it too afaik.

Edit: Possibly a marshall AVT 150 for about €550 plus shipping?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Eoin Madsen

Marshall AVT's are overpriced and overrated, imo. If you're going for cheap budget amps trying to fake the sound of valves - Line6 do a much better job of it.

What about a Peavey Classic 30 so?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Nice guitar. Not sure it has a Prestige neck though. Thought you weren't an Ibanez man Feylya? Heh. I own that guitar's little brother. He's fun. ;)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

The 04 models have prestiges. Na, I like Ibanez's if it isn't that horrible tiny Wizard neck. Bleh. I'd like a fixed bridge but that guitar is nice. My budget is coming in smaller than hoped :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I know what you mean. Mine has a Wizard neck and I'd love something chunkier. Les Paul size perhaps. Fast as hell though.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

ESP size is close enough to perfect for me. The poly feels lovely too :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Yeah. I was fond of the few LTD's I've played in town. At the moment though my taste is much more punk oriented than ESP or LTD allow for.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,359 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yeah, I'm more rock, metal, instrumental so ESP's are perfect for me :D

Yeah. It's too hard to find guitars with my kind of versatility. :(
