Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good luck in the morning Phi3! Try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know but try to think of it as the first step in making things better.

For me, this works. All hands on deck at dawn - i.e., we're all in this together. No-one gets out alive, or everyone does. Your port in my heavy storm.
All hands on deck at dawn
    Sailing to sadder shores
Your port in my heavy storms
    Harbours the blackest thoughts

    I'm at sea again
And now your hurricanes have brought down this ocean rain
    To bathe me again
    My ship's a sail
Can you hear it's tender frame
    Screaming from beneath the waves
    Screaming from beneath the waves...

    Hi, Just home.
They want me to make an appointment with MyMind. Don't know if any of you have been there.
    They also prescribed Lustral.
They want me to come back within the month to do bloods etc.
There's no way I'm gonna do all that.
Twas pretty horrible really. I thought I'd feel better for going, but I don't.

Its hard to explain to people unless they have actually experienced the nightmare that depression is.
Phi3 well done and give it time.

Give it a try here :) I'm notoriously bad face to face but here I can articulate better. Makes it easier if you just speak without qualification or justification and just say what you know you think to yourself no matter how trivial-seeming. No filters like.

Easier said than done I know all too well.

Try write down your feelings/ thoughts just write down anything that is going through your mind, however silly or bad you may think it.

I think sometimes just getting it out helps.

    Hi Guys,
My doctor told me to see a psychologist at MyMind. However when I'm looking for one, most of them seem to be psychothrapists. Is this the same thing??

There's a difference of some sort, but i've never really managed to figure it out. However once there's someone there to speak to you that will help, maybe that's the most important thing. Psychologists are much harder find, usually every organisation will have the one psychologist, more therapist.

I think it difference is more in the training. There probably are more differences but both do talking therapies so I think either will work fine. It's scary at first but it's really good to have someone to talk to when you get used to it.

I did not say over-coming depression or anxiety is easy, if you read the post, you
will observe that I stated, it is a process and takes time.

Occupation of the mind and body together are the solutions.

Idleness, sitting down and mulling over things creates the anxiety and depression in the first place.

If depressed people want to improve their mental condition without
the recourse to drugs, then they must take action and try and get control of their own lives by getting involved in work or activities which take their mind off their
    irrational and unfounded fears.

Idleness? Seriously? Depression and anxiety can be debilitating, you sound very condescending. All everybody needs is hard work right? Why did no-one else think of this, we are all cured!

In response to that nonsense up above I'm in the middle of a dark black crushing depression right now and I can't even hardly move.
Sometimes I'd agree that just getting up and occupying yourself does help in the short term but sometimes that isn't even possible.
Some serious lack of understanding from that poster.

Not even sure what the point of him posting that was actually.

Slightly bizarre but twice in the last few days the topic of suicide has come up with two totally different friends but both asked me not to do anything like that.. Now left wondering where it came out of.. Like am I giving off some sort of signal or saying something that I'm not noticing..

Funny you should mention that, I've been saying I might as well go and join the queue to jump off the cliffs, in a jokey way, the last couple of weeks. I don't feel anything like suicidal. I wonder where these things come from ? Lifes a bit difficult at the moment with a few challenges, everything seems to work out well in the end though. Its a bit of a pisser that it doesn't happen when I want it to though ;-) The donkeys chewed through a gate post, and I;ve replaced that today, I feel good about that, It took me three weeks to get around to doing it though.

Wish you all the best !!

Hey phi3, I go to Mymind! It's very hard to decide isn't it? You're basically reading all their qualifications and approaches and pretending you undertsand what they mean. :D
I think you should look at what they specialise in and see if it suits. Like I wanted CBT to help with what's wrong with me so I chose someone who is qualified to do this and has other things that look like they'd work for me.
If you don't understand the different things just google as there's loads of information about CBT, Psychodynamic and all the stuff you see listed. I actually asked about this because I wasn't sure about the difference between pschologists and all the others things and I was pointed in the direction of this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055169338
That should help a bit hopefully.

Getting these mental 'crashes' a lot, left work yesterday, within fifteen minutes i was nearly in tears, shortly after that i was suicidal, frightening enough.. :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,709 ✭✭✭cloudatlas

I'm falling into that trap of comparing my life as it is now to other peoples. I honestly didn't used to do this at all. When I was busy I didn't give a flying **** what anyone was doing but there has been a lull in my life and I have to start again from scratch. It's not helpful at all I just want to get things back on track so I concentrate on not caring about the past.

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I feel like im an alien living amongst every other human being on this planet.

I used to believe in soul mates that there is a person to love and understand you out there some where I don't anymore.

And yes I know you have to accept yourself first before you find love but does anyone accept themselves truly and love the person they are? If so id like to be one of those people.

sorry just no one else to talk to
Dog and all gone to bed :/

Lonely night all round it seems. Pinkstars - you should probably talk to a doc, hopefully they could have a balanced view and weigh up the situation.

Handbagmad, I'm not sure how much you have to accept or love yourself to love someone else.. I mean I believe it a bit but looking at how people here for instance support each other and that's without having the foggiest of who they are talking to, I reckon human nature is more loving than people think.

I hear what you're saying grem and agree especially wit folk here and yourself brilliant for support and advice. Im just very questionable today

Bit philosophical I think. Humanity may be more loving, just baffles why good people are left on their own,

Get out of my head!! I'm always wondering stuff like that.. You like why greed gets some people everything they want and being honest gets you castigated say, since they are common enough found in the news..

yes and why do some people get pleasure out of seeing others suffer. For example build them up and put on a pedistal to watch them crash

Why is it always the ones who seek to help others and seek love and honesty the ones to get the most **** thrown back in their faces
    A lot of questions

Right with you on that - I can be oversensitive to things I hear about on news involving someone innocent being hurt anyway.. I take way too much on board around the unfair things in the world. No wonder my brain never shuts up..

Hang on in there man. Things might look bad right this second but given a bit of time things could very well improve.

If you can manage it, maybe talk to the citizen info crowd. The change in circumstances could allow for some form of social welfare.
