Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hah! Thats the clue. Get that and you'll get the area.

I will hold my hands up and say I was being a little devious when I mentioned that people in the west of the county should find it easy. Its not in the west of the county ;)

Thats it........I think. I was trying to find the little parking area that I took the photo from on google maps and bing maps but couldnt get it. They must have constructed that parking spot fairly recently.

anybody local to lough Salt ever hear of a meteorite hitting there ?

was mentioned to me the other day although there's nothing official on the record.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,163 ✭✭✭✭danniemcq

    When would this have been?

    recently or years ago?

  • Registered Users Posts: 413 ✭✭MeteoritesEire

have a feeling it was many years ago though can't nail it down-info seems scant about it
the thing with urban myth type stories like this is it's quite easy for one mans observation to become like a Chinese whisper and get blown out of proportion.Someone may have seen a meteor fall over the lake but it was likely many many miles away and it's very difficult(or impossible) to judge even for seasoned observers.Triangulation from different observers is really the only way to know for sure where an object may have passed or landed.

its Lough Mulreavy on the road from Aghyaran to Laghey Barr through Killeter Forest looking towards Fermanagh. Lough Derg is just beyond this over the hill..

I was going to ask would an IOU note be ok!
