Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You should try and organise an interview with the winner for the podcast.

List is done and double checked. Due to the number of votes, tied places etc, we are going with a top 30 wrestlers. The top 30 is very definative, after that it gets into alot of tied places.

The list of 30, in alphabetical order, are:

    Andy Phoenix
    Ballymun Bruiser
    Bingo Balance
    Bonesaw
    Carl “Shooter” O’Rourke
    Danny Butler
    Danny Deans
    Duncan Disorderly
    Insano
    Irish Dragon
    JC Williams
    JDP
    Jordan Devlin
    Justin Shape
    Kev Rocks
    La Warren
    Lycan
    Mad Man Mason
    Mandrake
    Omen
    Paddy Marrow
    Paul Tracey
    Philly the Kid
    Red Vinny
    Sean Maxer
    Sean South
    Tucker
    Vic Viper
    Wayne Daly
    Working Class John

I dont think thats whats being done. :P

Its just the list of the wrestlers who are in the top 30.

    Pretty formidable list right there!
What place did father soul come? (yes he was in my list :P)
The big reveals will be happening over the next few weeks i am to believe?

Um.....Carl O'Rourke hasn't wrestled in years? Red Vinny is retired too...surely they're not eligible?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 146 ✭✭Rawm2008

Im calling Shennigans allready, for one theres guys on the list who have been retired for atleast at year or more, hasnt wrestled in ireland in over a year ala mason, and two nothen agaisnt the guy but "lycan" has only debuted at the DCW in september from the results posted and had 2 matches which were tags, really doubt he should be anywhere near there top 30, specially when someone like tron didnt even make the list.

Wasnt it said at the start of the thread that it was going to be an overall poll?

As the irish scene has been effectively dead up until the last year, this was to determine the last few years, not just current right now wrestlers.

And remember, theres 30 wrestlers on that list, so whos to say that lycan or manon arent no.30?
I for one think manson deserves some kind of honorary mention.

Carl was mentioned for good reasons, same with Red Vinny.

That list isn't in any order, its just the top 30 names. The real order will be coming out this week and next.

And on Lycan getting enough votes to make the top 30. Sure there are wrestlers that people will disagree on (The Conor Hurley voters will be crying bull**** :p) , but it doesn't mean they got number 1. If they got enough votes to break the list they got enough votes. There were wrestlers I would have liked to see in the final list but not enough people voted for them. (I like Lycan I should say, he plays a great big man.)

I was under the idea that we'd know the best wrestler that wasn't Sheamus or Devitt. Surely you could count all the votes and make a ranking list? That's if it isn't too much hassle.

I was wrong. Disregard this post. I'm slow today.

This is the joys of a democracy now. A fair vote by everyone on boards and people whinge before the main results are even out.

I don't think anyone was under any illusions that it wasn't going to be contraversal, just wasn't expecting THIS contraversal. :pac:

I feel like a broken record here since it's being said several times in the thread...that isn't the final list. It is the wrestlers who made the top 30. The final rankings and points will be coming out this week and next in the thread and the podcast. The points are already done and I have the final list. I just need to do write ups for the top part of the list and contact the winner so he can come onto the podcast.

Once again, just incase someone else doesn't see any of the posts.

Yes, there is a ranking. No, that list isn't the list in order. The rankings are coming out this week and next.

No hassle man, I still love ya ;) I just got PMs (****ing PMs!) from people giving out that the list wasn't in order and thinking that they would never find out. Hopefully that post will stop the PMs!

Jesus Christ remind me never to tak the time to try and do something that might be a bit of craic for the board to enjoy!!!

Poor aul Sean. Fair play to you for all the effort you're going to. There'll always be some people you can't please. Looking forward to seing the Top 30 take shape in the next few weeks.

Since I've been mentioned by someone I might as well add my 2 cent.

Obviously there's gonna be disagreements if everyone felt exactly the same we'd only have ended up with a top ten.
Also who's to say the people who've seen Lycan wrestle have ever seen me wrestle, thus as far as they're concerned he deserves to be in the list, not me.
Btw, Mason has wrestled in Ireland this year, he did the 2 American Wrestling Superstar shows in Dublin and Castlebar.
It's a bit of Craic at the end of the day it's and I doubt wrestlers are gonna gain or lose too many bookings if they're included in the list or not.

Fair play to Bostoncrab as I'm sure there's a lot of effort gone into this and so far very little appreciation.

Final note 9 of the 10 wrestlers I voted for made the list whoop whoop ( and the 10th wasn't myself).

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭Justin Ternet

If I'd have known the likes of Carl O Rourke were allowed my top ten would probably be alot different.
There are a few people in the list that kind of show me what way this might go. Flan you should try find your top 40 and compare it might make for soe interesting reading and smelly hats.

There is no way people can tell what way this will go until the final list is up. I can't argue with the top 10 and the one other person who knows the top 10 can't find fault with it either. I have no alliance with any group, I'm just a fan of Irish wrestling. People voted and the number can't lie.

Infact Manson wrestled on two shows this past May, one in Dublin, one in Castlebar.
Maybe the scene hasn't been as 'dead' as people seem to think, they just dont go the shows :)

The Boston Crab is going to post up the results in a few batches soon iirc, each batch of names and their placing announced after/on the weekly podcast or something and then posted here.

I will definitley sticky the list somewhere - add it to the hotlinks sticky most likely, as it will be nice if we could keep an annual listing like this on boards PW

Looking at the list now more than half the wrestlers in the top 20 trained at the fight factory.Delighted with that result.

Could someone post a link to the podcast please?

    Edit: Nevermind!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

    Number 30

    Carl "Shooter" O'Rourke

Carl has been abit of a controversal entry to the Irish Top 30, due to him leaving the scene. But Carl has been such a fine wrestler that it would be a shame to not recognise that. Not only has he done well in Ireland, but he has traveled abroad to wrestler for other companies and has put on great showings with fellow Irish men Fergal Devitt and Paddy Marrow.

As one voter commented, Carl is the “most talented individual to never make a proper go of it. Shame, because he could have been something special.” With that in mind, it's fitting to open up the first ever list of Irelands finest wrestlers with Carls name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

    Number 29

    JDP

A regular for Pro Wrestling Ulster, JDP finds himself breaking into the top 30. The master of the J-D-T, JDP is a former Pro Wrestling Ulster Title Champion and has been a joy to watch in the ring.

JDP has been with the company since day and became a great spokeman for the company. JDPs rise through the company has been a joy to watch as a fan, and if everyone had the same level of passion that JDP has for Irish wrestling, it would only spell good things for the countries wrestling scene, both north and south of the border.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

    Number 28

    Danny "The Pain" Deans

Danny has become the man with the most exposure in Dublin Championship Wrestling from the companies very first show this year. Danny has been desribed as an Irish version of Bam Bam Bigelow, and his big-man style is one of the finest in the country.

But Danny was known before his time with DCW and was involved in The Fight Factory Pro Wrestling. Not only that but Danny was once a major heel. But now Danny looks his most comfortable with the fans getting behind him. He is currently the subject of a story line with Ger Murphy and Dave Power trying to ruin him, and it has shown a side of Danny not seen before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

    Number 27

    Irish Dragon
Working as a masked wrestler always has its pros and cons. There is so much expected from you in terms of what style you wrestle and how you present yourself that it can be very easy to fail in the role. This, however, doesn't apply to Irish Dragon.

Irish Dragon has been a staple of the Irish Wrestling scene for years now and has been trained by one of the countries finest in The Ballymun Bruiser. It's fitting then at DCWs debut show these two went up against each other and in some critics fans stole the show. Dragon brings a great high-flying style and is very easy to get behind, making him an invaluable babyface for any roster.

While some voters feel that Dragon should be higher on the list, he has been performing at arguably his best since he began. If he keeps this up he could find himself being even higher on this list next year.

Where's the feedback fellas? People were twitching beforehand, now the results have started, I'd have expected some conversation....

Good to see some variety already, including representation from here up North.
I would have said I was against those wrestlers being not in the picture anymore being included, but I guess coming in at the bottom end doesn't make much difference, and is a nice nod to Carl O'Rourke's efforts.
