Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've played Starnab a lot. His shut down game is immense!!

Ye its crazy. I think this matchup is as bad as balrog for blanka but at least you can cross up balrog. I used to be able to beat starnab all the the time but lately he knows the matchup so well I cant do anything. I dont even bother picking blanka anymore, ive a better chance with chun or rufus.

Looking at the blanka video there I think a good blanka could have won it cos wong doesnt look like he knows that matchup too well. He wasnt punishing balls.

Could be some good news for sharing fight clips for xbox users.
Microsoft may be developing a tool that enables all Xbox 360 games to capture and share video clips.

    Link

Would be very handy if this comes to pass.

heh funny stuff. I wonder if the time would run out 1st before you ko'd someone with that.

Is that cr.Jab, st.Jab Kara'd into Short SBK?

AFAIK the damage scaling prevents infinites from KOing someone. Eventually you just stop doing damage.

It seems to cr.Jab (at max range) cancelled into short SBK.
I think the SBK is then linked into the next cr.Jab. I'm not consistent enough to say for definate but I think I did so that's what I'm saying.

He's a bit of a taunting dick.....fortunately I beat him in our last fight. And threw a taunt in for good measure.....

No, he was kicking my ass so much that he probably didnt have time to taunt.

I think it's now about 8-2 in his favour LOL!
You main Blanka I believe? Taunting him is certain death!! Even the most determined 'personal actioner' isn't that stoopid....

The El Fuerte RSF loop is allowed, so I'd guess this would be too.

Might be limited to three repetitions or something like that.

Ive just tried that chun combo, couldnt even do it once :pac:

EDIT: Heres who it works on

    Works on:
    Dhalsim
    Vega
    Blanka
    Akuma! (Hard to space though)
    Guile (Difficult Spacing)
    Poor Dan
Balrog (Setup with cr. lp x3 xx SBK)

    Not on:
    Sagat
    Honda
    Abel
    Rufus
    Cammy
    Gouken
    Fei Long
    Ryu
    Ken
    Zangief
    Seth
    Bison
    Viper
    Fuerte
    Sakura
    Rose
    Gen
    Chun

I think I speak for all serious players when I say: infinites are always allowed, "X repetitions" is unenforceable.

You might as well ask me to not play Abel vs FB characters because "OMG, his Ultra goes through FBs, so broken!"

Love the player, hate the game :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,041 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

"X repetitions" is very much enforcable.

" Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game."

That is from the MvC2 rules for Evo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,731 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Pretty sure it just means "you can hit an opponent's dead body until it's in the corner".
    *edit*
Yep, that's pretty much what it is. You can infinitely combo a KO'd opponent, and then keep doing it until timer runs out. The rule is that in tourneys, you're only allowed to combo the body until it hits either wall -- then you have to stop.
Only applies to MvC2 due to the 3-per-team system.

Some more obscure fighting game silliness, this time from Eternal Fighter Zero.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,731 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

EFZ is Guilty Gear without the ridiculous characters.

However, every time I play it & switch to SF3, SF3 is running like it's on FFWD.

@ that ryu v akuma match there, about 2 min in, the c mk to ex fb FADC ultra was something I was messing with in training ages ago and the ultra would never hit them. I assumed it just wasnt possible, dunno wtf he did different to me there, must test it again.

Yeah it can be done alright. Strangely, he never did it at EVO? Seems to use it a lot more now.

Saw alex valle do it at EVO and I was amazed!

Indeed, pretty easy in a corner too.Is it possible away from the corner though?

Can only be done in the corner. Away from the corner you have to FADC to land it

I just went into training mode to have a look,it's definately possible away from the corner against Rufus,Balrog and Geif,I'll try the rest.

Works against Bison too :( so probably the rest.I'm sure Ryu players know more.

Wow! Didn't know that. But do you have to be right next to the character for it to land? What if you land a cr.mk poke from a distance?

Doing it from Cr mk poke doesn't seem to work but cr lk works ,timings a wee bit tight but usable.

So I was playing some SF4 last night against some guy's Ryu and at one point his FA traded with my sweep (don't ask why I was trying to sweep him out of a FA). He was knocked down but because I was crumpled from the FA he had time to get up and land a sweep and it counted as a 2-hit combo.

Immediately, I was reminded of this:

This "director's commentary" is a great read.
