Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Loving the whole Detroit/London/Berlin mish mash that's going on right now. For instance, we'll start with this....
and along similar lines (what with the personnel being much the same - that's from the new ostgut comp mixed by Ben Klock by the way). So here's a Martyn track remixed by Klock. With Spaceape's fcukin spine-chilling vocals
On a more Detroit related note, you'd have to mention Kyle Hall of course.

Some really nice stuff there which is kind of exactly where my tastes are at the moment. Everyone I know seems to be into the whole Deep House re surgence which I can take or leave to be honest.
Much more excited by the likes of Martyn, Scuba and pretty much anything on Hyperdub (as late to the party as I am).

Kind of stopped buying this sort of stuff a year or so ago when it all got a little stale and the best guys doing it all went a bit too Techno for my recordbag, recently been on a more of a Garage tip when I play at these BPM's, usually slot a bit of Bassline and a bit of Funky in there too
Scuba tune off one of the Hotflush / Offshore split 12" releases... Gorgeous tune! Haven't been too keen on his stuff since he went all Berlin on everybody's ass... Prefer his stuff with a more garagey feel to it like this release on [nakedlunch] :
^ one of my favourite technoid tracks. pretty much everything on Immerse is well worth purchasing, even though noone ever seems to go on about them despite some great tunes in the back cat by the likes of Spherix, Kontext, TRG etc etc etc...
The first few years of Punchdrunk recordings are pretty well essential if you're into this sound, and in hindsight they're often a hell of a lot more "techno friendly" than most of the crossover stuff that was to follow... I kind of fell out of love with the label when I bought the Peverelist album and didn't really get on with it, but I'm not discounting the chance that it may yet click with me.
On HENCH (of all the labels! wtf!) - rule one about releases on Hench is only to buy the Komonazmuk ones, Appleblim and the likes were caning this one back then...
i know for a fact i've gone on about this tune at length in other threads. it's still FEROCIOUS and I have yet to tire of hearing it despite literally hearing it at nearly every single night I've been to in the last few months with music slower than 150bpm
Tube10 are worth a shoutout, label is excellent - beautifully packaged wee 10" plates with a general techno / garage aesthetic to them, although the recent ones haven't been quite as spot on as the earlier ones.
One of Martyn's earlier remixes, put both him and Hessel Audio on the map. Sublime tune.
Berkane Sol is another label worth checking, and Geiom is a name you should check for (I'm presuming everyone here already knows about Appleblim). Recent releases have been on a more off-kilter UK Funky / Post-Dubstep tip, but this collaboration is wicked tings.
The very first thing I did when I got into investigating Dubstep was to buy up as many of the Skull Disco releases I could get my hands on, still missing the first two but have the rest of them, this is off one of my favourite 12s in the label's whole output. Deliciously deep, and the other side is every bit as good. There's a few posthumous CD compilations of the whole label's output that I urge you all to buy.0 -

surprisingly enough i know a good bit of that stuff. keep having a strange thing happen me with the hessle stuff with hardwax. Always have a load of it in my crate and then it always seems to be out of stuck when i pull the credit card trigger.
Love that Applebim and Peverelist track.
Gas the way that a lot of these artists are gone too berlin for you steve but just berlin enough for folks like me. Shows that quality is quality no matter what genre i guess.
Yeah, I'm not sure if "too Berlin" is the right way to say what I'm trying to say really... I think there's just something really missing from a lot of that Techno / Dubstep crossover stuff that I can't quite put my finger on but that I'm finding in tonnes of old Garage represses and in quite a lot of the more bashment-oriented Funky tunes... Just a swagger, I guess...
Having said that I'm still buying a bit of that sort of stuff - recent Dubstep purchases include:
Villalobos played that at life actually, love Ramadanman's stuff lately.
The last few have a bit more of a wonky juke-y influence in them that I think goes a long way to counteracting that rhythmical sterility I find in a lot of the recent techno / dubstep crossover stuff...
But at the end of the day whenever things get too Berlin :
