Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

great thanks. don't think i will port my number though, for some reason I see it going all of a sudden!
At least it will be cheap to make lots of calls with caller ID blocked!

I've had them port over my number from Vodafone. I've the 48 sim in my phone and '48' comes up on the screen, I've received texts to my old number perfectly. Whenever I go to topup online it says that i'm paying the membership for the 089 number that is linked to the sim. Has anyone else ported over their number and successfully paid their membership? I've sent them a email to see what the story is, but I haven't got a reply yet.

Not that I'm aware. But if you topup via payzone you can register membership. An finally make calls!

My phone always has the roaming symbol on screen since I transferred over ???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭m4rkiz

it is because 48 don't have their own network - sims are using o2 network

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,408 ✭✭✭ft9

I can't wait for my sim.

    What a fantastic deal

I've just logged in fine - what problem are you having?

You know you have to "pay your membership with balance" to start making calls?

I have €11 credit and cannot make calls. Reset my password and it won't let me login with my new password Keeps saying incorrect password.

For anyone that ported over their number. Just wondering what information was needed and if you had your details already registered with the network you were leaving, as in your date of birth :D. Did it cause any problems?

Have we found out if this is discrimination on account of age?

Yeah thats what I am trying to figure out myself. Seems to be ok if you just want to go with the 089 number but wondering if you could run into trouble if you try port assuming your correct details have been registered with O2 or VF etc.

I must say I find their whole tone of language a bit childish, I know they want to sound funny but the whole "sexy photo" idea is just cat, it isn't funny and the age thing is pure discrimination AFAIK, you can't sell something to a certain age category unless the law specifies so or there is an inbuilt risk i.e. insurance etc.

There are clearly major launch issues going on. Looks like a rush job launch to me.

Of course it is discrimination by Telefonica.

The Equality Board can be contacted at info@equality.ie

Did you get a reply from them?

Membership Fee & Passport Required, doesn't seem like pre pay to me.

Requesting a passport for age proof is clearly a breach of the Equality act. Period.

I have chased the Equity Board for a response to the complaint.

I hope others complain as well.

Does anyone have the contact details of someone senior in Telefonica? If so, I will complain to them as well.

    Yawn.

Perhaps their age stint is a method of gaining advertisement?

Who wants to participate in a class action :)

in order to go anywhere with this you will need to take a case, and get a precident set, you will need to fillout an EF1 form and send it to 48 months, then they send you back an EF2 form with the reasons,
the whole thing takes some time.. you can get the required forms at the following link, http://www.workplacerelations.ie/en/services/publicationsdownloads/

Have they actually refused you, or are you just complaining in advance?

Sorry to burst your bubble but "class actions" have no place in Irish law.

I have to agree, marketing people in general make me cringe but this particular campaign is off the scale.

When I first read about this, I didn't really care about the age restriction thing. But thinking about it, this is our radio spectrum they are using, it belongs to the people, and they should not be allowed to take over a chunk of it for their own profit and not allow the majority of the country to access it. I think some letters to comreg are in order.

  • Registered Users Posts: 113 ✭✭Walter White

Bad taste... I think that photo is perfect for any company... What would you perfer a picture of an old granny... Its aimed at 18 to 22 year olds...
As for a Law suit.... Who wants to join me in a Suit against the local park ?? Its says playground is for under 12s only... The PC brigade are out in force today...

That's the problem with the young folk today...they expect everything to be done for them!

You should look into getting it done yourself. A couple of post back, someone explanied what forms need to be filled in. Fill them in, send them off, and see what happens.

If that is the case it sounds like you won't be needing 3000 minutes and 5000 texts.

That's exactly when you'd need them, 'cause you wouldn't be going anywhere!

anyone know what happens if you don't renew membership after the first month i.e. I know it expires but how long do you have to reactivate it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 181 ✭✭e-sull

Wow, some of the people on here (certain people in particular) really need to calm down and get over themselves.. Fine, you might be outside the age bracket and be píssed off over that because you're paying more.. Fine. But trying to get a new, enterprising business to shut down just after it setting up in the middle of this recession on the grounds of equality is just pathetic.. It just goes to show the ridiculous amount of free time that some people have at the moment.. How about some of you chronic neigh-sayers get down from your high horse or up off your árse and take a leaf out of 48's book.. Get busy starting the businesses that will get us out of this mess instead of trying to kill off any hope of regeneration of our economy.

    That is all.

Dammit. I got caught out with the credit thing during porting.

I lost a months subs. Well I sent them a strongly worded apology about next email they will receive from me. Then I sent the second email. Should hear back tomorrow I hope! :)
