Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Popped in after work yesterday evening to try it out and was well impressed. Went for the shredded beef burrito and it was damn tasty! Really good quality "clean" food.
    The staff are dead sound, go through the different options with you and let you taste the sauces and that first to see if you'll like it.

    Casual set up, in and out within 15-20mins, great service and lovely upbeat staff. Will def be back to try out the rest of the menu.

    We got 2 burritos and 2 drinks for €15 and were stuffed after it! Great value.

    Don't forget the guacamole and sometimes refried beans have garlic salt or flavouring. The black beans would be a better bet, but I'd ask first.

    Yeah, that's the challenge. Garlic salt seems to get into all sorts of places.

    Even things like he's playing in a pub, and the man puts out a tray of chips and cocktail sausages ... often flavoured with you-know-what.

    From what the manager was saying to me on the opening day, they prepare everything fresh each morning. So they'd know exactly what goes into each!

    Anyone wanna pick one up for me? I'll take a chicken burrito, savory Mexican rice, black beans, mild salsa and a drizzling of the roja. I'm in the harbour hotel but I'm sure they wont mind :P

    Mrs o B, i really feel for your mr, garlic is such an integral ingredient in life it must be incredibly difficult to avoid.

    Was there today and had a Fajita with shredded beef. About 8 euro with a drink.
    Not the best I ever had but definitely very nice and I'll go again.

    Going tomorrow for father's day :D.

    I think the guacamole and fresh salsa are big factors. I could eat warm tortilla chips and fresh salsa for days.

    I could see grabbing a negro modelo and some chips and guac more often than grabbing a burrito.

    Actually, anyone try one of their margaritas yet?

    And yeah, I can see myself and a few friends sitting in there with a big bowl chips with queso, guac and salsa and a few bottles of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale of a friday evening :D

    Yeah you can put whatever you want in it, not sure if there's onion in any of the salsa's but just ask the staff and they'll help you out

    Ate there yesterday, no onions in mine anyway, if they were in the salsa I certainly didn't notice. Burrito was SO good, we ordered a decent amount of food and two beers and it came to €25, not bad at all. The burrito was so heavy!!

    I got brought home some unexpectedly :D
    Deffo some onions in mine. I had the veggie 3 soft flour tacos. Probably in the guacamole, but I'd imagine there's some minced in onion in some of the salsa, could be wrong though.

    Met a mate of mine yesterday evening who never stops eating and he had quarter of his meal in a doggie bag 'cos he couldn't finish it.
    I could have eaten a second burrito, they were very delicious and not quite as big as La Salsa's. Lovely staff too, though I don't know if their "production chain" at the counter is the most efficient. Will definitely eat there again.

    That does sound pretty efficient, I'll grant you, and will admit my assessment was wrong then.
    My order went one person taking out the tortilla, the next putting all the food on it, and then two people at the till. It's entirely possible that my order was just at a changeover time or something though. I'll have to go in a few more times to double-check :P

    Twud be worth it, in fairness mine was at 630 yesterday evening and they were very busy so i guess they may have had more on, i must go back later and see :cool:.

    Where exactly is this place folks? Can you get a takeaway or is it tables and chairs only? Apologies if this has already been mentioned just in the door from work and I speed read the thread. I assume it's an easy going casual sort of a place to eat?


    From having walked past the place on the other side of the road it is either in the same premises as BKs was or in the premises next to it. Glad that premises has become something good since BKs used to be pretty great.

    I need to try the place out now, think I only noticed it cos I'd gone from sitting at the Spanish Arch waiting for an event to start in the Townhouse to going and checkingout work on what I assume is the new film centre. I'd seen cranes above the museum and figured that must be the location, about time they got that finished if it's still underway.

    Finally went today with the family for lunch. I ended up getting the pork burrito. There was a bit of a strange flavour in the meat like nutmeg which wasn't quite right. But that said, this was the best mexican food I've had in Ireland (including my own). The mexican rice, pinto beans, cheese and sour cream were perfect options. There was a nuclear green chili sauce which went great with it too. My wife had the chicken fajita which, as far as we could tell, was exactly the same as the burrito except she also got peppers and onion in hers. The kids split chicken tacos and the meat in them was really nice.

    We ordered chips and guacamole plus chips and salsa as I wanted to try everything. The tomato salsa was really bland but the roja salsa was good and the guacamole was excellent.

    A few things to note:

    1. cash only
    2. margarita machine hasn't arrived yet (which makes me picture a slushy machine of green goodness)
    3. they didn't have negro modelo or dos equis but did have some surprises like anchor steam and blue moon. I do hope they get their mexican beer supply sorted.

    All in all well impressed. Looking forward to trying the shredded beef next time.

    Think it's a little unfair to criticise a business for having opening hours that don't suit you. If you had taken a second to look at their website you would have seen the opening hours. I went in on Friday and before doing so checked the opening hours so as to ensure that I got there in plenty of time.

    I had the veggie burrito and it was heavenly. Not the best I've ever had but by far the best I've had in Galway. Heading back in tomorrow for another one and more than likely be meeting a few people for lunch there during the week/

    Note that as usual this is in my opinion, you might think its yum.
    On the other hand the chili con carne was very good, not to mention the cubed chorizo which was amazing.

    Of the sauces on the tables I have only good reviews, none is particularly hot if you're used to spicy food. The green jalapeno sauce is lovely and I must have used half a bottle in one of the tacos :D
    Beware of this Habanero sauce though, it's very tasty but effing hot (as it says on the bottle lol)

I'm not articulate enough to describe it, but California taquerias use a darker, richer marinade for the pork which is other worldly. They also toss it on a hot grill for a couple minutes so the frying makes it taste crispy yet succulent. I'm hoping whatever flavour didn't belong in the pork (nutmeg?) won't be in the beef.

    Lol, been twice and got the 3 tacos with different fillings :D

    Another note, if you get the mild salsa in a burrito it's quite watery and will drip from the foil pack.
    Not a biggie, just remember to grab some tissues and put underneath so you don't get any on your clothes.

    Its cinnamon that's in the pork. I like it, gives it a sweetness but i only had a taste of my husbands to try it.he hates cinnamon but still ate it covered in the hot sauce.
    I got burrito bowl with chicken and the mild tomato salsa.was delish and huge! One negative wad they put chopped corriander on top and i hate hate corriander. Not their fault tho. My husband got it for me while i waited patiently in car outside (for ages!!) but he thought maybe the corriander was mixed in with the tomato salsa rather than sprinkled on top...anyone know if this is the case?

    I'd have to say I was a bit disappointed too when I found them closed this evening. Yep the times are on the facebook, but in my head I though 'surely it can't be closed at 6 if it (semi) fast food. I'm not used to looking up fast food times on facebook tbh! :P
    Fair enough the times are stated, but I think it's more than Mrs O'Bumble that would have made the assumption of a later opening. 4 people wandered up and were 'ah feic' same as me, staring in the window, at what we all thought was 'dinner time'.
    Oh well.

    I had the beef in mine and thought it was lovely, great flavour but not too strong, everything was lovely together. Although my guacamole did sit in a pocket down low in my burrito, would've been perfect it was spread around the whole thing.

    Fully agree, i was dying for one after work and said id check FB first cos had a feeling they might not open late on Sundays for some reason, man was it my loss.

    I think it's fair to presume that a casual eatery would be open at 6 on a Sunday.

    Most places that must close at some stage during the week do so on a Monday when it's quieter.

    The Naga/Scotch bonnet sauce they have on the counter next to the till is fantastic if you like it a bit spicy.

    Had the beef burrito and was impressed and will most definitely be back to try more

    Their footfall crowd in Dublin would be very different to here. Their walk-by lunch trade is the biggest. Not sure about Belfast, I haven't been to that one. Fair enough if it's a company thing, we'll get used to it :D Although I'm sure they will get a lot of comments from disappointed walkups.
