Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Ne wind in Arklow is gusting above 40mph at the moment straight off the sea according to my Davis and at only 5.9c,it is very very bracing!
Cloudy and dry at the moment with the clouds moving like formula one racing cars.

Rain not too far away now. It looks to be an extensive band with some heavy bursts in there.

Once the rain band hits the east coast will the wind speeds subside or are they to remain as they are now?

Probably get a bit stronger if anything. As BB described it - a bracing day here with a strong NE wind. 6.2c atm.

    What radar is that mick?

6.2c with a DP 1c here atm. I'd say higher parts of Wicklow Mountains (e.g. Lug) could get quite a blanketing of snow from this system.

I'd agree with you there. Currently 2.4c at 450m in the blackstairs. The Wicklow Mountains are usually colder again. I'd say anything 700m up could see some white stuff for a time.

Looks as if the band of rain is breaking up abit as it approaches the east coast on the radar.

if they play the national league finals at croke park will the ball not come back when they kick it toward the gale.

could be a few own points!

It's getting very windy here in Cork already.
Unusual system the way it has developed and come up from France.
I've a funny feeling this one could be a damaging storm for Southern areas

    Agreed.
There was still snow on the top of lug this morning from the last system.
still dry in Arklow but black now to the east.
Very very windy down here. Frequent gusts above 40 MPH and howling.
That's going to be very vile when those pinks and reds on the radar come ashore.
    Driving sheets of rain.

Wind gusting to 79 km/h at the weather station in Dun Laoghaire harbour. Sea getting quite wild here in Dalkey, waiting for the rain.

Funny how the weather in the past month or so has been quite interesting :)

That is a serious amount of rain heading for the SE.
Lovely day here, sun is shining, nice and dry, but quite windy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,327 ✭✭✭sunbabe08

    ahhhh here comes the rain.

Very windy in Arklow, garden furniture on its side. Raining but not too heavy yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Min

The ground is damp enough after recent rain without that intense stuff heading this way.

Something wrong with the weather, usually the West and North get the worse, it seems to have flipped.

I like the new tags on the threads. Hi folks! Apologies the last "event" did not quite live up to expectations but it was very tricky to call all the same. Although i'm sure people in Punchestown probably felt it more than others. I would have put this as a "Level 2" potential flood event particularly in the East. We shall see what happens. Interesting 24 hrs ahead from a wind and rain perspective. A wall of falling water is about to hit the East coast. I suspect conditions are conducive to the odd embedded thunderstorm too. Showers following later tonight.

Surprised at the strength of the wind here. Mean speed of 20 kts at the moment and gusting to 35kts from a NNE direction. Very sunny and getting a nice view of the dense cirrus band from that frontal system in the eastern sky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,520 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

North Wexford should be getting it good around about now.
