Since the 49ers win, things have gone downhill. Granted Eli managed to outgun RG3 and we fell over the line against the cowboys but last night was very poor. No offense of note at all. Any time big advances that were made downfield was because of penalties and one of our 2 TD's was from a "dodgy" fumble. In the last 3 games the defense has basically been unable to stop any rushes from the opponent. Whether Eli had an off day or the recievers couldnt escape coverage, it was very frustrating to watch. At the moment the only plus was the 'Boys lost and the eagles have a difficult game against the Saints in the Dome

Yeah the inability of the offense to get over the game line particulary in the last quarter was disconcerting to say the least. If the Eagles win tonight that leaves them in a good position going into the Dallas game next weekend. Their run in until they meet the Giants in the last game of the regular season is not as tough as the Giants. Hopefully the Saints will win tonight as that would leave the Eagles in a right pickle!. With five defeats out of eight they would realistically need to win five of their last 7 games before they play the Giants to challenge for the Conference title with Dallas under these circumstances out of the playoff picture. So tonights game is crucial for the eagles.

10 and 6 may be enough for the Giants to secure their conference win although 11 and 5 would be nice. Must win next week against a tigerish Bengal side!

Wow are offense sucks at present.

Our D is doing pretty well (although MLB is a priority in the draft next year, i'm looking at Minter from LSU as the guy we should be targeting)

Speaking of the draft, what was the point of drafting Wilson in the 1st round if all he is going to do is return kicks. When you see what TRich, Martin, Pierce & Morris are contributing to their teams it pretty disappointing.

Our redzone offense is killing us. Alot (if not all) the blame rests with Kevin Gilbride. His play calling is terribly predictable. Nicks clearly not being fit doesn't help but god if I see Eli throwing up another 40 yard bomb to a double covered Cruz again it will be too soon.

Look i know i'm overreacting (slightly) but we have been awful in our last 3 games. We are lucky that we are 6-3 and that the rest of the NFC East sucks more than we do but we need to do alot to think we can make an impact when/if we get back to the play-offs.

I think I would agree with all of the above there. The Bengals are struggling a little so hopefully the Giants bounce back next week. It's also away and the Giants are more of a road team. After that they have the bye, so hopefully with a win and a week off, it'll set them up nicely for a pretty tough final 6 games. I'm sure the Packers and Redskins will be looking for revenge while the Falcons are on a roll this year and any game with the Eagles is never easy.

So how do people think we will get on Sunday? Bye week next week so I think this is a massive game, especially considering our schedule after the break.

Here is the lastest injury report

    Out:
    Michael Coe
    Kenny Phillips
    Jacquain Williams

    Questionable
    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Chris Snee
    Keith Rivers

    Probable
    David Baas
    Chase Blackburn
    Andre Brown
    Chris Canty
    Bear Pascoe
    Hakeem Nicks

Can't believe it but it's good that Blackburn is back. Hopefully he will help shore up the middle as Mark Herzlich really struggled badly last week. It's such a pity injury has robbed us of how good Keith Rivers could be.

Bradshaw will play no problems. Hope Nicks just gets through unscathed and rests up for the Bye week. We need him back to help out Eli & Cruz.

It wont be easy and Amukamara and Rolle will have to do a good job covering AJ Green & Jermaine Gresham. JPP & Co. getting pressure on Dalton will help.

And finally...... Eli Eli Eli, we all believe but it would do no harm to have a 360 yard 3 td game please

To put it politely this is very very poor. If November didn't exist the giants wud be unstoppable. More calm thoughts will follow later!!

I dunno, we have had 2 good games this year (Panthers & 49ers) We really could have been looking at being 3-7 in any other season.

If the Eagles n Cowgirls get their act together we are done.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 806 ✭✭✭woodchopper

Looking at the fixture list we could be looking at 9 and 7 at best on current form. Luckily the Cowgirls and bald eagles are as bad as each other.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,989 ✭✭✭wawaman

Well that was a mess. Offense, non existant and as for the defense. AJ Green might aswell have had a deckchair on the field he was allowed that much space at times
It was a great opportunity to beat a Bengals team who had lost the last four. And with the Birds/Girls playing each other a chance to basically take one out of the equation for the playoffs. Although as it is at least with the Girls winning, we have no tie breaker hanging over us as we would have done with the eagles.
This bye week will hopefully be a blessing and they will be rejuvinated against the Packers, although last nights performance and result has been coming since the 49ers win. The remaining schedule is very tough and teams like the Saints who you thought might be out of the playoff picture by the time we played them have started playing well and are back in the playoff picture again.
Lightning couldnt strike 3 times could it and we hit a hot streak at the right time!? ;)

Big game this week. Badly need to break out of the slump. Defeat isn't the end of the world but Eli & co. need a good performance

I think we need to win because if we lose we go 6-5 then we play the Skins with even more pressure on us and then we could easily go 6-6 with the saints and Falcons next.

I can easily see us going 8-8 now which would be really disappointing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,989 ✭✭✭wawaman

Another thing to remember is that if we lose our next 2 (GB & Skins), that puts both ourselves and the Skins at 6-6, the cowgirls wont be far behind either. Granted i dont know what the remaining Skins schedule is like but judging by ours it could be a fight to the death for the playoffs - which it should never have been

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,057 ✭✭✭JJ

This GB game is big. If the Giants lose, I can only see a further downward slump for the rest of the season. However, the Giants are coming off a break, Eli says he's feeling better and Aaron Rodgers is the most sacked QB in the NFL right now. We know the Giants D are licking their chops at that thought right now.

Giants were most impressive, pity about Brown getting injured though. Rodgers has got more sacks than Father Christmas and its only November

Turning to next week if the Giants play like this again then RG3 will have a pretty large hurdle to jump over!

That was awesome last night. Packers not at full strength but still that was a pretty good performance.

Both lines played really well and hope that Locklear will be RT for rest of the year as Diehl is done at this stage.

Only saw the game last night, very impressive. A complete turnaround on the Bengals game. Eli's "tired" arm looks to have rested pretty well over the bye week. Apart from one over the top that the Packers got their TD from the secondary looked good aswell. The D line swallowed up Rodgers aswell. Onwards now towards a meeting with RG3. He caused lots of problems in the first game, hopefully he can be contained alot better on Monday night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,050 ✭✭✭boccy23

I sat down and watched this game last night and while the lines played well, the winning of the game was the running game. We controlled the clock and put their defense under pressure and then some very poor play be Green Bay helped us.

I still thought Eli was off. There was a lot of wobbly throws and he only completed 16 of 30 which isn't great. Its not like the Packers back end was all that good. On one pass deep to Nicks, he was lucky it wasn't picked off.

Green Bay only has Rogers and when he was under pressure, the rest of the team fell apart. They need him to play well every single play to compete.

There are still issues with the back end. Webster got toasted by Nelson for their touchdown and if he had time, Rogers could have been more productive. That's where the D-line play was awesome and they did destroy the Packers O-Line. Hopefully this re-energised play by the line continues. Play Kiawanuka at D-tackle was a new one for me. But it did seem to work and he caused a decent level of disruption.

Also, the return of Kenny Philips was key and I hope he's not too seriously injured. This allowed us to play Rolle is a LB/S roll and he took the slot man. We had only 2 LBs on the field for most of the game and this helped in coverage.

Lets go Giants. Big chance to put an end to one of our divisional rivals out of the play off race.

Bit of a worry about JPP as he sat out practise friday with a sore back. He'll play and hopefully make an impact. If Osi is in the same form as he was against the Pack it'll help.

    Out
TE Travis Beckum - Knee (DNP)

    Doubtful
S Kenny Phillips - Knee (LP)
    LB Jaquian Williams Knee (LP)

    Questionable
T David Diehl - Shoulder (LP)
WR Domenik Hixon - Ankle (LP)
DE Jason Pierre-Paul - Back (DNP)

    Probable
C David Baas - Shoulder (FP)
RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Foot (LP)
CB Jayron Hosley - Shoulder (FP)
S Antrel Rolle - Illness (DNP)
DE Justin Tuck - Foot (DNP)

Tonight we will really see if the bye week rejuvenated us or whether the Packers game was a once off/they had a lot of injuries.

Coughlapse as it has become known is well under way. We should be destroying this division ATM.

Another big game. Going through these late season dips in form is so frustrating. To go from 6-2 to 7-5 with our schedule is poor. Need to bounce back tonight as Skins n Cowgirls closing in.

Big win !! Positives were a break out game from David Wilson, some more picks from Stevie Brown and a more Eli like game from our QB. The negatives were too many big plays given and for a while in the 3rd quarter it was a lot more close than it needed to be

Not feeling great about our next game. I think we need to win 2/3 games or 3/3 if the Skins win their 3.

Next three games is bird hunting time.

    [/QUOTE/]

Falcons n Baltimore away are games where they will have to be on top of their game. I'd feel more confident about these 2 games than home to Eagles as we could be stupid and lose to them.

I think 2 wins should do the job.

    Skins schedule is
    @Browns
    @Eagles
    vs Cowgirls

    Cowgirls schedule is
    vs Steelers
    vs Saints
    @Skins

So only 1 of the 2 can reach 10 wins if they win out. Cowboys have tie-breaker over us if we both finish on 10 wins, not sure how the Skins n ourselves play out with similar record.

Hard to know how 10 wins would play out if it came down to wild card but you'd be hopeful that you'd get in.

It's maddening :( honest to god this team are every bit as bad as the Cowgirls :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,139 ✭✭✭Red Crow

Yeah it's a good unit that forever underperforms regularly.

The offence has been very poor for a large part of this season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,989 ✭✭✭wawaman

My god that was terrible. The skins are winning now without rg3. The payoff spot is theirs to lose now. It seems to be win one, lose one. Judging by that we are due to beat the ravens next week. We need to win our last 2 and hope the steelers and saints can do us a favour. Even if we somehow reach the playoffs this team seems to be so inconsistent it's hard to see a run deep in them

Only Giants can score over 50 points in one week and score none the following week.

Tuck and Gilbride should not be here next year. Oh and good riddance to Osi - Waste of $$$$

Tuck and Gilbride should not be here next year. Oh and good riddance to Osi - Waste of $$$$

I'd leave Tuck where he is.

Osi and Gilbride should be gotten rid of. Add Dave Diehl n Chris Snee.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,989 ✭✭✭wawaman

Agree about Gilbride, his play calling this year has been terrible at times.
Win and in - its that "simple" !! Does anyone believe we will win the next 2? Even if we beat the Ravens it would be just like the Giants to lose against the Eagles. Eli is talking that they are in playoff mode already. They better cause they might get there for real

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,364 ✭✭✭✭Kylo Ren

I think Gilbride can be partly to blame, but the players. They have been awful. Eli has been awful for large parts of the season. And the D. Can I even call it a D? Shocking.

Here is a breakdown of our postseason hopes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,139 ✭✭✭Red Crow

Also I think a huge problem is that Hakeem Nicks isn't near being healthy. I honestly think Tuck, Diehl, TT, Rivers, Austin, Tyler Sash and Snee could all be gone next year. Barden, Beckum and Osi are gone. Also Bradshaw could be in a spot of bother too but it's unlikely. We could easily draft all OLine and DLine next year and getting rid of Killdrive and Fewell should help too. Unfortunately I can see us letting go the FA's - Rivers, Beckum, Osi and Barden and retaining everybody else. If we lose the next two games there should be a heap of guys thrown off the team.

I'd agree with alot of that but I'd def want to hold onto Beckum n Sash. Injuries n suspensions have ruined their year.

If it didnt cost too much I'd try to move on from Rolle n Webster. Such liabilities in coverage.

Linebackers must be a priority in off season. Blackburn, Herzlich, Williams n Rivers shud b dumped with Kiwi moving back to d-end

I don't think we'll re-sign Beckum straight away. I think he might test FA and then return to us on little money. Oh how did I forget about Webster! What a liability. I'd probably keep Rolle and get him to take a pay cut. Sash will probably be kept as a ST/Res player.
I love Bradshaw, but it's time to dump him tbh. We have two young RB here.

So Tuck thinks the locker room is mentally drained. Really? I would of never guessed. While Coughlin reckons "it may take an offseason" to address the pass rush issues. While this is a motivational tactic, obviously, it also shows that he is going on record recognising the pass rush as a problem as many NYC media personnel have been asking him this for a few weeks. Also they have been ripping Tuck and Osi all year long. JPP has been stopped this year too and that's largely down to Tuck and Osi's poor production and Perry Fewell being completely out of his depth.

Really disapponting guys. This team has lost that killer instinct and we can't find that level of consistency. Ultimately TC, Perry Fewell and Kevin Gilbride have to shoulder the blame of this Coughlapse.

Honestly I'd bench Nicks next week to get him recovering now and bench lots of guys on the defence. Tuck, Webster, Osi etc. can all say good bye to NY IMO.

Wilson has to be our no. 1 going forward. Lets get Randle moving and let's see a few more rookies and 2nd String guys that want to play for the G-men get more snaps.

I just don't think Coughlin will make those decisions tbh.

The cough lapse will be blamed on tiredness from the offseason. We'll come back with the same ****ty o-line n Blackburn will still be our MLB. Failwell n Gilbride will still be co-ordinations.

Yeah I don't see anything changing. I think a lot of guys need to be cut or take pay cuts etc.

Honestly it's amazing how bad or defence has been. Fewell is a huge problem. Gilbride is far too predictable and calls an awful lot of bad plays. We badly need change.

I think Coughlin might step down tbh.

    OL first pick please.

I wouldn't mind getting Chance Warmack. He would be massive upgrade over Snee. I'd like to see Snee n Diehl cut. Resign Locklear and promote Brandon Mosley from practise squad. Beatty is ok at Lt, Baas will do for now at centre n Locklear is stop gap at Rt but we need to get a lot younger along the line to protect Eli.

I think DT, LB and the entire secondary needs to be improved. We have not got a lot from the past couple of drafts n it's starting to hurt us
