How much do you spend on a night out?

On a proper night out whats the damage?

    10 pints e50
    packet of smokes e9.10
    nightclub door charge e10
couple drinks for random bird e10
    chipper e8
    taxi e15

    total e102.10

about 50 times a year excluding the few quieter nights out thats over e5,000.

not many people can afford that before they have to sacrafice for the mortgage or just get fed up of hungover Sunday yet there is no really viable alternative for people in the mid 20s to socialise at night.

    No condoms, eh?

You'd think you'd give up buying birds drinks if you couldn't even take home 1/50 nights you try to be honest :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

    Average night, €40, €60 if clubbing, big night/family meet-up, €100.
Don't go out much anymore, which suits me fine. Too many young people in pubs nowadays, talking about everything I used to do as of it's a new "thing".
    Hope they all get pregnant.

Just a pity you have to spend so much of your night in the jacks helping people wash their hands to get the money for your round, really misses the point of going out with your mates :(

    Annual break? How ****ing ignorant.

It's the quarterly jaunt, my dear, and is necessary to give their poor, worn out bodies some rest and recovery from all that cv posting, application filling and interview sitting they so enthusiastically do :)

    Meal out + drinks.
    Night at the theatre.
    Pub + night club.
Walk the dog and a carry out.
    Watch the stars.

    Depends. . .

have you tried internet dating? Busty blonde babes from russia really go for that i hear.

Maybe 5e on drink, either a few cans before hand or a pint or two of guiness once out, don't like being drunk at all at all so it's hard to spend much money on drink.
Don't usually go anywhere where you have to pay in (Galway's great for that).
Might spend 5e on a burger or whatever afterwards but not every night.
Live within easy walking distance of town so now taxi home after.

So maybe 10e on a pricey night out for the typical pre-drinks, pub, club deal which I would normally define as going 'out.' Theatre, gigs, cinema meals out etc are obviously more costy.

If I go to Coppers I tend to overspend because that fricken ATM in there only shoots out 50's, genius play by them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,012 ✭✭✭Kerplunk124

6 cans of Bavaria for pre drink = €6
Box of Amberleaf = €4.65 ish?
    2 Bottles in the pub = €3.80
Getting into club = €5 before 12 but its almost always after so €10
    3 pints in there = €9

    €33.45
Sounds about right as i always only bring out about 30-35 quid these days anyway..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭Formation

Genius play to have a casino around the corner from coppers.

About €50, don't think I have ever spent much more than that. Always take €100 with me though, plus the bank card. Rarely go out, so don't mind pushing the boat out when I do.

    Typical Saturday Night:

    Half a crate of Bud - €7.50
    Door charge - €10
    Drinks - €40-50
    Food - €5
    Taxi's -€10

= Around €80, sometimes more, sometimes less.

    Typical Mid week, Tues/Weds/Thurs night:

    Half a crate of Bud - €7.50
    Door charge - €5
    Drinks - €25
    Taxi's - €10

= Around €45 usually, maybe round it off to €50

So I usually spend about €130 a week just on going out, too much really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,364 ✭✭✭✭Kylo Ren

    Bottle of Jack/Vodka - €15

    Few cans - €5

Pint or two at the pub/club - €4-8

    Food - €6

    Total: €30-€34

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭Formation

So by and large ye either go out for an hour or drink in the house until about midnight before having 2 drinks in the club?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,282 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I used to be very good, spend €12.58 on 12 bottles of Reinbacher before going out, and don't pay into clubs, 1/2 drinks in the club, usually eat when i get home.

But lately, i've gone back into that trend of spending €12.58 on 12 bottles of Reinbacher before going out, and somehow spending €80 in the club on double Stiffy Cola's with a bottle of Smirnoff Ice (bout €15 a pop)...

So i'm not going out anymore :(

its expensive alright, 100 or thereabouts couple o drinks.. ride home if i'm not bothered with math sober, then no chance.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭Scanlas The 2nd

    About 14 euro.

I spend 10 euro on taxi fares and drink tap water. I like to bring in a couple apples and bananas into the club with me to eat as water can be boring. Occasionally I'll bring in a bag of popcorn.

6 beers for pre drinks $12
8 pints (give or take) $76
    Bit of food after $12
    Taxi's in out split $10

$110. About right. I probably spent 60/70 euro back in Ireland.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 678 ✭✭✭ihsb

I tend to pre-drink. Then take €50 out of the machine at the beginning of the night and not spend anything more then that. Tends to work alright and I am sober enough by the end of the night to not have the room spinning! :D

  • Posts: 0 Van Rich Cheddar

    That's one shitty night out.

Because don't all Irish people know that you can't possibly have a good night out unless you've drunk so much the room is spinning and spent half a week's wages.

There's just no need whatsoever to be spending over 100 euro on a night out, IMO. Maybe once in a blue moon for some big occasion, but every week? I'd just be thinking of all the other things I could do with that money. I rarely spend more than 30 quid and still have a great time.

    A big night out - 40 euro.

    A regular night out - 10 euro.

Most ppl here sound like under25 or single or both.

I don't do pre drinks as its not my intention to get smashed every night out.

Night out about eur20. Pints here are about eur1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 800 ✭✭✭a fat guy

I don't drink alcohol anymore and the Taxi dude is a family friend, so that's free...

    Less than ten quid.

Before that, it'd be 20 or 30 quid along with a few pre-drinks.

    Much happier now though.

Tend to have nights in more than out these days. Lay on a lot of grub and get some crates of beer in. Get everyone over. BBQ and cocktails in the garden too if the weather is good. Leave a box by the door anyone who wants to throw money in towards anything can do so.

More often than not I break even. Even been known to come out with a small profit - but usually throw that back into the next house party.

On the nights I do go out I tend to just order a bottle of wine and a glass. Over priced of course but still massively cheaper than 6 or 7 pints.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 894 ✭✭✭filmbuffboy

Few beers at home beforehand 8 euro
Get into the club before 11 on sat/12 mid week - free!
2/3 pints at the club 12 euro
    supermacs afterwards 6 euro
    walk home - free

total: 26 euro! and thats when im being extravagant! (im a student)
