You definitely don't have to wear a suit to the assessment!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Sofa King

I recently did the assessment, interview and medical with Medtronic and still didn't get the job. Can't understand how or why.

But you can wear casual clothes for the assessment, but wear a suit for interview.

    Hi Sofa King,

Could you give us some details regarding the assessment and interview.
Did you get a psychometric test? What type? Maths, personality? What type of question? How long?
Interview: How long? How many people? What questions?

    Many thanks

One week from the assessment to the interview and about 4-5 days for the medical.

Hi all, with medtronic do you just drop in your own CV or is there an application form that you have to fill in?

For an operator position that is. And what's the duration of contracts like?

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭the galway secret

For operator jobs do you apply through the medtronic site or though cregg? cant see it anytime i check cregg

Hi Sofa-king, I was wondering if you have heard anything yet about the job in Medtronic? I recently completed the assessment, interview and medical and was under the assumption that I would have heard something at this stage and still two weeks later I haven't heard anything. It's incredibly frustrating as I believed that they were seeking to employ people as soon as possible.

    Hi Roversfc,
I haven't heard anything yet....I presume that they are just gonna wait until after race week to hire at this stage. It's a pretty frustrating set up. I know a few other people in a similar position with this stage of the process and that's giving me a bit of hope!! Good luck...if I hear anything I'll let you know :)

I would imagine they are just hiring a bunch of operators to work across multiple manufacturing lines. They wouldnt give you any more information as to what you would be building until you got hired

Hi, ya in the interview they ask ya what you know about the company and about what they do so do a bit of research on them, they ask you do you know what lean production is so just learn that off, other questions are like explain a time where you had to pay close attention to detail and that it's pretty straight forward you will be in and out in 10 mins, the medical then is grand they just take blood and urine samples, check your blood pressure, give you an eye and ear test, I think once you got passed the assessment you more than likely will get the job as long as ya pass the medical

Could anyone tell me whats involved in the medical for Madtronic/ Cregg. I have a medical next week and prior to knowing this I smoked some cannabis last week. Would I fail medical for Medtronic on account of this ?(I am going to tell them what I had done before the medical)

Would I fail a medical for Medtronic on account of this (basically for using cannabis I don't drink but occasionally do enjoy a smoke) ?(I am going to tell them what I had done before the medical). The role is for an operator role, this is just to get foot in the door as for the past 4 years I have been in college.

It's very basic. Don't tell them about the weed.

Have you been through the process? Do they take bloods and urine?

Not much you can do about it now anyway. Go take the test and hope for the best. And don't smoke again before (but you already knew that).

Yeah if I done harder drugs they would be gone out of my system lol (although not really a thing to joke about)

Depends on the type of test. If it's a hair follicle test (although I doubt it is) pretty much anything that you've done in the past few months will show up, even alcohol.

Let's not get too involved in the aspects of it.
This thread is about Medtronic and not drugs testing.

Hi @tintin, @Roversfc I completed the interview and medical two weeks ago yesterday. I can't seem to contact them and I am getting worried and wondering should I be moving on to look for something else.

Do you think that once the medical is passed (hopefully) that I will get the job at some stage?

    Thanks!!

I'm in the exact same situation, had the assessment Wednesday July 23rd, interview Tuesday August 12th, and medical the following day, and I haven't heard a word since, unsure as to what to take from that, should I assume I have not got the job and start looking elsewhere, or are they waiting to have enough new recruits to train a group together?

Interview is formal, but relaxed, but that could just have been down to who I was interviewed by as she was a very nice friendly lady.
Know a bit about the company, and what they do, recent expansions, and have an answer prepared for the usual questions "why do you want to work for Medtronic?" "What can you contribute as an employee?" Etc.
They will then ask you to give details of times you worked as part of a team, give examples of how you have had to pay close attention to detail, just try and use any good examples, even if they aren't exactly in the same line of work, (I referred to previous work experience although it was in retail, and projects and assignments for university.)
Learn a little about "lean production / lean manufacturing" as they will ask you do you know what this is.
They asked me had I experience in labs, clean rooms and microscope work but having that experience does not seem to be the inference between being hired or not.
All in all I think I was in there about 15 minutes.

The medical takes a similar amount of time and you do this out in Medtronic. They go through your full medical history with you, and then check your: height, weight, sight, hearing, blood pressure, lung function, and they take urine and blood samples to test for drugs in your system.

    I hope this helps!

Hey, I did the assessment the same date as you, and interview and medical shortly afterwards. Still haven't heard anything, it's quite frustrating really. I phoned Cregg last Friday and they said the same thing, that I had passed everything and that they would be in contact to arrange starting once Medtronic tell them that they need staff. They seem to be hiring continuously but I don't know how many could be waiting to start before us.

No I never heard a thing from them after the interview and medical, even though they told me there and then that I had passed provided nothing showed up in my bloods. Eventually after like 3 weeks I gave in and phoned them as I was getting a bit paranoid and they said I'd passed everything and they'd be in contact once Medtronic contacted them to get them more staff and that "it shouldn't be too long" but haven't heard anything else since!

i had interview tuesday they said to me medtronic looking for 120 people and that creggs havent let anyone go for over a year looking good
i was offered another job as packer day before interview and something tells me it was fate
medtronic is a very competitive place and little chance of progression without relevant degrees and so on and i think it wouldnt be a friendly place

they said to me to choose what days hours id like to work and said there looking for new people asap

    hmmmm

    goodluk

Did you take the job or are you waiting on Medtronic
