Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Why feel sorry for him? He was part of a crime family in Sligo that's responsible for distributing cocaine throughout the North West. He died because he was stupid enough to put a condom full of Cocaine in his stomach. On top of that, we don't even know what this guy was like only that he's a criminal, he could have been a cold hearted murderer for all we know as well. So yeah, I think i'll reserve my sympathy for him tbh.

    Is he?

The lad used to sleep rough in sligo, I'd expect a crime family distributing coke to afford somewhere to live.

    From what I've read/heard it's a horrifically painful death.

Hope the lads get a good night's sleep;)

Venezuela and its capital, Caracas, are reported to both have among the highest per capita murder rates in the world. Most murders and other violent crimes go unsolved. Armed criminal gangs often operate with impunity throughout the urban areas. The poor neighborhoods that cover the hills around Caracas are extremely dangerous. U.S. travelers have reported robberies and other crimes committed against them by individuals wearing uniforms and purporting to be police officers or National Guard members. Police investigations into kidnappings have revealed that police officers are often involved. Caracas tops list of murder capitals of the world

    http://www.globalpost.com/dispatches/globalpost-blogs/que-pasa/over-500-deaths-last-year-at-venezuelas-notorious-prisons

CARACAS, Venezuela — With inmates wielding machine guns, rifles and grenades and guards often unwilling to enter the overcrowded buildings for fear of their own death, jails in Venezuela have become a lawless territory that magnify the violence outside their walls. More than 500 people were killed in Venezuela’s notoriously dangerous prisons last year, according to a local charity.

I've little sympathy for cocaine dealers and those who work for them. Even less so when they're stupid enough to think that ingesting a relatively huge amount of cocaine with nothing protecting it from their body but a thin layer of plastic is a good idea.

Yup cos they have yet to develop a morning after pill to deal with the issue of a split condom full of cocaine.....

    Nasty.

I've heard of a few people over the years dieing in similar circumstances. Seems they start having mad fits like they're a transformer changing figure and black foam comes out of their mouths. Lucky it didn't happen on the plane. Imagine if you were sitting next to the guy when it all kicks off.

Jesus get over yourselves "whether you use drugs or sell them you're the lowest of the low" Are you having a laugh? What about murderers and pedophiles? A person has died have a bit of respect for them and their family, just because someone does drugs doesn't mean they're the lowest of the low. I'm sure a lot of people on here have done drugs and most of you probably drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes which are also drugs so cop on and get a grip for Gods sake.

I am calling BS on that one, no one forced him to do this and drug mules exist in good and bad times. His choice, his life.

I have no sympathy for drug couriers, sellers AND buyers.

Ha what is your problem why do you feel the need to keep trying to insult me? I know what they've caused that's why I'm saying have some respect you've clearly never lost anyone to drugs and I hope you never do but then you would have a different outlook. You don't know anyone's circumstances or how they end up involved with drugs and they are more to be pitied than to be called the lowest of the low and all this s**t.

True. Supply & demand & all that.

I hate anybody feeling sorry for anybody stupid enough to get involved in the 'trade' though.

It's a cancer on Irish society.

And without stupid Prohibition laws there would be no need for this black market.

It's like the American 1920s all over again, but unlike the repeal of the Volstead Act, our governments do not have the sense to realise that THEY are the ones fundamentally causing this problem with their idiotic laws that do so much more harm than good.

Sad to hear and the ironic thing is he probably was not being paid anything to do it he was a well know user.Probably getting his tick sheet shortened.Oh and that "Sligo based crime family" does not exist anymore is was disbanded over a year ago most of the members retired to Spain. It was replaced 4 or 5 smaller gangs which ironically has driven prices down as they all compete with each other.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Mr. Loverman

I've read many books on criminals and one of the things which comes up again and again is that the average criminal has low intelligence.

I cannot believe they still use this method to import drugs. It may be "quicker" but it requires a constant supply of mules and there is a high risk that you will lose your shipment (never mind the mule).

Why don't they just get organised and figure out a secure, reusable route? Off the top of my head, you get the drugs from Columbia into Brazil. You pay off someone who works on a tanker (e.g. banana boat) to allow one crate of your product on every trip. The boat then arrives in Spain or where ever and then the product is distributed. To get it into Ireland you simply need to go via Irish Ferries as they have no security checks between France and Ireland.

Obviously the above would take a bit of effort but surely it is doable especially with the kind of money these guys have.

Or perhaps this sort of thing already exists and the condoms-in-the-stomach guys are the equivalent of the lads who sell bananas on Moore Street whereas the scenario above is Tesco...

I'd say that's most likely. If not we'd have much more cases of people dying like this man. There are probably much more organised imports of cocaine and other drugs but they are so well organised most people have no idea they even exist.

Whatever about whether he was forced into it or did it of his own free will, a man still died and I still feel sorry for him and his family. RIP.

Yes because thats how all the cocaine gets into the country. No one ever thinks of checking there.

Another one bits the dust.....i'll get my coat.

I travel via Irish Ferries a lot and there are no security checks (for foot passengers).

I know they were involved in drugs, and in my view any one dealing with that muck is the lowest of the low, and yes I do have experience of the horrible cruel nature of drugs.
And how do you have the right to call people a bunch of snobs, you know nothing about me, Im assuming anyone else.
