Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Getting involved can be harder than it sounds. I was miserable in first year, didn't know anyone, could never motivate myself to join any clubs/societies because I wouldn't have felt comfortable with all those strange new people.     I think that's a problem that's common to all universities/colleges. And I get involved a little, I help with the live music soc plenty, mainly cause that's the only soc I'd have any interest in. I was thinking about setting up my own soc, but then I realised how few people in Mary I would want to join anything I may be even vaguely interested in :rolleyes:

    how many people in Mary I know that the internet has more use than to go on facebook. I'd say about 10% is fair.

    I would say the number is closer to 25%

    And out of the 75% who use it for facebook, farmville is the reason 30% joined facebook!

    I'm another Mary-Ier. That brings us up to about 5 people or so?


    ...and a newbie to boards.ie - Don't judge me! Currently studying for a Group Dynamics exam and was just reading about how newbies tend to get treated differently in forums as they are "isolates." Well I'll do my best to work on earning some "credits" and avoiding "cyberostracism" (What a word!!)

    Ciarraíoch will feel my pain too!

Also, of the many internet forums I regular, I'd say boards.ie has the most accepting community* bar the one in my sig, of course!

    We at the FDF forum are a wonderful bunch, I'll have none of your bad mouthing! Also, it's more of a thread for Mary I people to hang out, that to specifically talk about the place. The UL forum isn't all about UL.

    You have to be a sub (like me) or a Mod (like An File) to use custom avatars. The rest of you can use the set list of avatars. At the top of the screen there go boards.ie>User settings>Edit Avatar

    By the way, subbing also gets you 4 shiny stars, an access to the sub forum, the ability to have your username changed and access to the sex and sexuality forum (awesome). See, lots of reasons to do it ciarraiochone

    Aw, what?! Surely we could just fool about with it. If it comes to it we could always read a manual or something.

    But, yeah, it's great to be back on air. The new show is infinitely more popular than last years. We got a text yesterday, I got none last year. We have fans!!!

    I'm not mad into the name an Bosca Draíochta, by the way, Ciarraioch1. It's good but not great. An Bosca Torannach or Glór Nua or something, perhaps? Then again, the méid Gaeilge a bhí á rá agat was minimal, tut tut tut. :)

    Well I suggested it on this thread at the start of September (don't know why I, or anyone else didn't think of it sooner to be honest), and going by the thread DJCR knows a few of the UL mods personally and he/she (no offence DJCR) suggested it to them later on. Thankfully PETEE took it on board (no pun intended), and woila, Mary I now has it's own sticky. I'm not in the college anymore myself (doing a postgrad in UL), but it's nice to see how things are going around the place.

    I'm still not set on a name...I had people texting in suggestions..So I'll prob end up changing the name again!

    And I had more irish at the start, just difficult to have a chat on your own...
