Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, I think I need to get the flywheel done on my Ford Focus (late 2008 updated model), and want to ring a couple of mechanics to get some quotes so if anyone has any suggestions for mechanics anywhere around the city or Oranmore it would be greatly appreciated.

AKAT Pitstop and Fahy's Garage, both good.

Thanks for the suggestion biko, AKAT is now known as Donnellan Auto Service garage it's where I've gone a couple of times and will be contacting but I figured that it's no harm to get a few other options given that it's a big enough job.
Where is Fahy's? This is all I could find on it but the location doesn't really look right

It's across from Byrne's Tyres in the village itself.

Right, just a wee update, went to the Kilduff's at Nun's Island and cannot praise them lads enough! Sound lads, don't rip off and do their job well :) I found myself a trusted mechanic!!! I would highly recommend!

Well, sorry to disappoint you but if you were a woman, you would be treated this way. This is how it works. I had a great mechanic but seriously, things were getting VERY uncomfortable- despite the guy knowing I had a serious boyfriend.
So forgive me being annoyed, but that's how I see it now.
I guarantee you they would not have the same attitude to a middle aged man.

Nah, same for Men. I just did a bit of research before hand.

How many times i've gone in and been told my Brake Discs are going to get me killed.

I guess you still have not gotten them replaced? I thought it was just men vs women there, the perception that blonde women will agree to fix everything if they are scared enough!

Having an issue with my power steering in my 2007 Almera, feels pretty stiff at times and then jerky at other times. Any recommendations or is this one for any mechanic?

    Thanks

Hey I had a trouble with my powersteering in Audi A3 8P1 from 2. Based on my experience you must be low on power steering fluid if you're mechanical ps or your steering rack is on its way out if the system is electric. I am not sure where would ps fluid be in a jap car though so you'll need to research it. In Audis it is quite difficult to find and most of the time electric so VERY expensive to repair. I got a 2nd hand rack in the end and it cost me 450e for the rack and fitting (1500e at the sealership).
Best advice- visit the Kilduffs at Nun's Island, the guys know what they're doing and they do it well for decent money.
Hope you're only low on the fluid, mate!

Hi guys I need to get my brake pads changed, does anyone know anywhere open Sunday or very early Monday that won't rob me?

It's a Toyota Corolla 02 if that makes any difference

Car isn't starting for me (engine turning when I use the key but not catching). An old 03 Peugeot 307 so if it's something major it'll probably end up being scrap :( anybody know a mechanic (near Renmore) who'd come out and have a look at it? Cheers

    A guy here www.facebook.com/Mobile-mechanic-Galway-941225175999169
claims to be mobile but I haven't a notion if they are good or not.

Maybe www.renmoremotors.ie will call out, or collect.

Cheers. Can't get the link to open for the Facebook lad there, what's he called? Don't suppose you've any experience with Renmore motors yourself?

I only got emissions tested there once. Was fine, not worse nor better than anywhere else. Price wise it was middle of the road, but you won't know until they have diagnosed your problem.
