Hmm, used to like Nintendo, far too many kids games for my likin on the console, but hopefully the GC will change that. So far I like the Xbox, but time will tell. I absolutely hate all the Mario games, and looks like there will be (as usual) a lot of those available.
The new Res Evil game looks fab though.

    Check out this screenie

    How weird is that??

    Worst game ever?

I pre-ordered the GC in game in blanch. Was told €289.99  also preordered luigi mansion and rogue squadron.

Anyone know what the memory card is like? I heard it has a really small storage capacity

In regards to pre ordering the GC, do any of these outlets know about any combination packs that are due, i.e. 2 joypads and a game or 1 game and a memory card. As I am due to order one shortly I will obviously want to get a good price with as much kit as possible.

What the hell? Scared your mom might walk in on you playing with your Pikachu when you should be watching hardcore nazi porn with donkeys on the side?

Seriously...does it really matter what age group the game is aimed at? If the games enjoyable, enjoy it. I find myself spending more time on my GBA playing pokemon than I do playing FPSes on the PC.

I'm holding out for Soul Caliber 2 to come out before I fork out for a Gamecube. :bandit:

WTF? I'm entitled to an opinion?

I personally absolutely hate the Mario games. I liked them for about a week, a very very long time ago. I've been looking over the lists of games for the Gamecube, and although there will be quite a few decent titles, the majority still are games like Mario, that I personally don't enjoy playing at all. *MY OPINION*
This is why I'm not sure if I'll be getting a Gamecube (if the majority of the games are ****e, why should I bother?). Don't get all upset over it :P
... Different people like different games I suppose.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion..but you stated that there are too many kiddie games on the Nintendo consoles, did you not?

    Summation of my post...

    'So What?'

So no "Middle Aged Fat Bastard 2002" for the GC? Damn, was looking forward to that.

All games are for kiddies, young and old.

I'm a 20-year old game-obsessed kid. If you have a problem with that, bite my tender sensuous ass.

Same can be said about any console, not just gamecube.

Personally *IN MY OPINION* I think the GC has more potential than the xbox.

Ah yeah - Advance Wars, Breath of Fire, Golden Sun, Sonic Advance, Doom, Streetfighter.... man, they're all kids games.

(And grown-up games are... what? Something that simulates the Six O'Clock News and brings you your slippers and pipe? LAY OFF THE CRACK.)

dont get too excited about smash bros., its alright and theres loads more to do than the n64 version but its roughly the same and its too 'fast' i think, it gets really boring after awhile.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Volvagia

Well put Shinji! Viva La Game Cube!

I'd rather play the so called nintendo kids games than jedi knight or castle wolfenstein. Anyone who says they hate mario games obviously has never played one and is too wrapped up in playing first person shoots (a genre that hasn't changed since half-life and everything after hasn't even come close) to open up there minds and realise that nintendo do make the best games. So what if they are a bit childish. It doesn't matter if they're brilliant.

Sorry but that's total BS. I played a whole bunch of Mario games a long time ago, and didn't like them. Why do you assume just because people don't like Mario they haven't played it? Not my taste that's all. Too wrapped up in first person shoots? Ridiculous. Not everyone likes Mario, not the end of the world you know

I'm thinking about getting a gamecube...what titles will be available when it's released? What titles are worth getting(shinji?)

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

http://www.gamespot.com has a list I think. Some of em look pretty good. Avoid that Universal Studios thing, though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

em, i have super smash bros., rouge leader and luigi's mansion [Lm in jap]. Smash bros is good but it gets boring reeeaallly quickly, Rouge is good and looks absolutly amazing, battle at endor is good if u like that sort of thing, but again its really short lived and gets boring. Lm is good but i cant relly say anythin bout it since its in japanese.

Mmmm, Luigi's Mansion is kinda fun but it's an acquired taste really. Of the launch games, I really like Rogue Leader and Super Monkey Ball... I'm a big fan of Wave Race Blue Storm too, but I think I'm in the minority here.

Three weeks after the console launch we have Super Smash Brothers Melee, which is REALLY good fun and actually a superbly made beat'em'up once you get past the very odd mechanics. Then three weeks after that again we have Pikmin, which is one of the most innovative, clever and playable games I've got my hands on in a long while. Really looking forward to sitting down and losing a few evenings on the PAL version of that. :)

If you really played a mario game you wouldn't honestly say that they were all crap. I've noticed that a lot of people that play games on pc's are very biased against consoles. And super smash bros. does get boring in single player mode. 4 player battles will never get boring.

Hmm all the mention of these new games and yet no Zelda :(

Anyone got an estimate on a release date/any info at all?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 999 ✭✭✭DrunkLeprachaun

No Zelda, but Starfox Adventures looks like it could be even better.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 5,042 Mod ✭✭✭✭spooky donkey

i used to think starfox was great on the `ol snes, then i played it the other day and it was so slow. Must be showing its age. A new version could be great.
