That is crazy. So the bank in town is the only one to service the whole Northside of the city.

They're all getting ridiculous. I went into BOI Roxboro a few weeks ago to lodge money. I was going to do it in the machine, but there was a queue. Meanwhile both windows were open and two members of staff were sitting there chatting to one another, so I went to a window to do my lodgement and was told that 'lodgements are by machine only'! This despite the fact that there were about 6 people queing for 2 machines. I had to queue as they refused to do a lodgement at the window. Bloody ridiculous!

They still will have the machines it's rubbish tbh

    Ptsb are the exact same.

I went to the Raheen branch a few months back for a query and the window told me to ring open 24

The sooner bitcoins or cryptocurrencies in general put the banks out of business, the better!!

I see Gasta has shut down . Business looked to have gone very slack there. Probably just isn't the demand at the prices they were charging

Is that not slightly misleading? You can still deposit...just via a machine rather than a human. Giving out about queues at a machine is kind of a moot point as there were always much worse queues when having to wait for a human bank teller in the past.

Bank of Ireland in the Parkway are closing shortly. Everything moving to Castletroy. Seems ridiculous in my opinion.

Why? More and more banking transactions are being done online. I think it must be 5 years since I stepped inside a bank yet my bank account handles multiple transactions, withdrawals, direct debits, standing orders etc daily. It makes good business sense not to have an oversupply of branches when the vast majority of customers who previously had to physically go to a bank to do their business can now do it from an app on their phone. That is progress!

Gasta is closing their shop. Moving on to bigger and better things.

    From their FB page:
    **Leaner & Stronger**
It's with great sadness that we announce the closure on Saturday gone of the bricks & mortor retail side of our business at 6 & 7 Thomas St Limerick.
The pics below taken two and half years ago, when Gasta begin one summers morning as a small restaurant trying to change the way Limerick people eat.
If someone told us that with in such a small time frame we would have grown Gasta to be a market leader in national online meal plan & juice detox deliveries, took a listing in the exclusive McKenna's Best In Ireland Guide for three consecutive years, helped 100's of people improve their health and most importantly provided 10 jobs for an amazing crew.
We would have said they are mad
But thats exactly what happend and more.
we had a great 2.5 years
Full of euphoric highs & painful lows as the start of any business is. In an ideal world we would have loved to have kept that part of the business, as it has been the perfect home spaces while we grew. But with the direction our business is going the time was right to exit Thomas St.
You haven't seen the last of Gasta Healthy, in fact it's only the beginning. We will be based at our sister company FoodRooms Irelands new kitchen facility on the outskirts of Limerick growing our online and catering business with overnight deliveries to the UK and a huge new venture starting soon that is going to revolutionise convenient healthy eating nationally.
    So watch this space
Lastly We would like to say a massive thank you, to every single customer that has come through the door in Thomas st.
With out you none of what was created or what has still to come would be possible.
    Thank You!
    Gasta Team

Edit: Just spotted that Itsdacraic got there before me

I don't think closing your city centre restaurant is moving on to bigger and better things though. Shame as I quite liked the place. Obviously wasn't making the money or it would still be trading.

Gasta was bound to die out when the Conor Mc Gregor/clean eating buzz died down. They seemed to shill "diets" and "juice cleanses" yet had the word "debloath" on their posters outside!

I think that's a bit harsh on them. While I disagreed with their 'juice cleanses' nonsense, they were one of the very few places to eat in Limerick that had healthy, decent food. They were especially good for vegetarian food and healthy treats. I went to their cookery course a few years ago and their approach was very much around healthy, sustainable lifestyle and not diet fads at all.

Like seriously, where can you eat now that's somewhat healthy?

Their statement says otherwise and thats all I'm going on. They had a unique business on Thomas Street but it turns out that their online trade was way more profitable. Hopefully no one is out of a job anyway.

Pity about gasta perhaps the healthy food chain Chopped might be interested as there seems to be a gap in healthy food restaurant. They specialise in salads etc. Also maybe a taco chain might be interested.

No I don't but I say it could have shut up shop if it is closed that long. I knew the previous owners before it came inver. He said it was just tipping away. It looks busy doesn't mean it's doing well. It was usually just regulars that used it.passing trade as well. But sometimes it would be costing more to keep it open that they would make in a day. So they could have just shut shop u wouldn't know. That happened before as well.
