Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apparently they did apply for a late licence for bakers, but coachman and Morans objected on grounds that they have facilities just as good to offer but can't get a late licence themselves. As rumours go...

Maybe with the Posthouse closed it will open up for more applicants.

On a slightly related note does anyone know why O'Keeffes closes so early? I know it's coming from the Guards but why are they so strict in Clonmel. I remember when it used to close at 2.30am with the bar closed at 2am. Now it's on the dot of 2am - last Saturday night the dj actually stopped mid song!

I been out in many rural towns and while the bar might close at 2am, the music usually continues for another hour.

I generally don't go out until 10pm or 10.30pm and most nights wouldn't make it into O'Keeffes until close to 1am. It's not worth going in any more for an hour.

If it is coming from the Guards,There must be more trouble in Clonmel, than the other towns you go out in....I am not surprised really...I came through there recently at club closing time...and I wouldn't like to walk down the town..well the night I was passing anyway. It may not be that way every weekend night.

It's definitely not worse than other places I go out in! They just seem to be very strict here. I suppose if it's working fair enough but it just means people are all thrown out on to the streets when they're still enjoying the night.

I'm pretty sure it's enforced by the Gaurds, their shift changes around 3 o clock and there's reduced manpower after 3, so they're trying to clear the town before they finish. So I've been told anyway..

Yes I understand what you mean alright about been put out when the night is going well..Maybe its the number of Guards they have available to patrol the street..it could be cutbacks:)

I think it's good news for South Tipperary! Most employees probably live around Clonmel and will just drive to Fethard instead now. So most money will probably stay in Clonmel but some local shops (particularly petrol stations and convenience stores) in Fethard will get a lift as well.

Anyone know when they will be recruiting and what roles they are looking for?

If previous adverts on FAS.ie are anything to go by, it'll be for JobBridge Interns!

Do not waste your time asking about the black economy in Chadwicks, Chadwicks are part of the Grafton Group and are publicly quoted Company on the Irish Stock Exchange.

Go to the Social Welfare Office and ask them if they have any plasterers on their books.

The National Asset Management Agency (Nama) is planning to put another eight hotels in Ireland up for sale as part of its ongoing wind-down of loans and assets.

The hotels are Fels Point near Tralee, Co Kerry; the Maldron in Wexford; the Clonmel Park in Co Tipperary.....................

This is good news, even though in my opinion this hotel has been run very well lately, you cannot expect private entrepreneurs to come in and compete with Government backed hotels.

When the Clonmel Park becomes less of an absolute rip-off I may look at attending a function or maybe even holding one there.

Fethard could do with the jobs as didn't that amount of workers loose their jobs in the same factory last year.

They are but considering I paid for it when I purchased my house and thus it is my property I would like to know where it went.

On another more positive note as another poster mentioned the old Mordaunt garage is being re-opened. This time by Barlos who are going to have Nissan and Hyundai in there.

I agree totally and have wondered about this. I imagine there is some clause where it probably is not your property, like the esb or your gas. meter.

Am I correct is thinking there is a built in charge to cover the cost of your water meter included in the water charges.

You could report it stolen I suppose, that should clarify the situation. ;)

I had a feeling they'd end up in there. Great to see them expanding, they're a pretty decent crowd to deal with.

FB is full of Irish Water updates, and people on the protest in estates. They have said they wont pay,so whats the point in standing in the cold.Let the non payment be the protest..the meters will be put in anyway

People have been whipped up to hysteria by the media and social media.
Regardless of the method, surely anyone with an ounce of sense sees the need to meter water and charge according to use.
They protested in Auburn Park yesterday, although it didn't seem to stop the works going on.

Can anyone recommend a good health spa in Clonmel for massage etc?

It doesn't have to have a sauna or steam room or anything like that but that would be a bonus.

I'm interested in the quality and atmosphere of the place, not somewhere cheap and nasty. Somewhere where the guests are treated well, perhaps with complimentary drink or snack.

    (in before 'Happy Ending' crudeness)

True..but it was nothing to do with the receivers.DID were supposed to take it over themselves but the guy running it jumped the gun and closed it wednesday night..afaik DID were going to keep the staff on but not so sure now. Those official looking guys with clipboards work for DID and are there to take details if people have queries about deposits etc.
Locks were not changed..same locks but DID had no keys and knew nothing about what was going to happen wednesday night

I'd imagine there is few place left apart from Sean hacketts and Argos.

I'd go to Sean Hackett for anything like fridges. He's been in business since I was a child and I've always found him really good to deal with.
